Testing is a crucial part of any manufacturer's process, and Ultraviolette takes this responsibility very seriously with their F77. A few of their test units recently clocked 1,00,000 kms each and despite that, the battery impressively retained over 95% of its original rated capacity. But that’s not all - the Ultraviolette F77 and the F77 Mach 2 boasts an industry-leading 800,000 km battery warranty, surpassing even Tesla. Varun Painter visited its home city of Bengaluru to witness this achievement firsthand. Here’s what transpired.

I own one. Regarding range I did a tour from Bangalore to Mysore around 140 KM one way. Started at 100% dropped down to 27%. What they don't say is you have to keep the speed between 40kmph to 50kmph to get high range. Have to keep under 40 kwh. Which is hard based on elevation. City ride is good all thanks to traffic and regen. But long highway ride you will loose range drastically. If you check out their specificitions in their official website you only get 266KM at 100%. The claim of 307KM is only if you ride the bike in a straight road at the speed of 30kmph is when you get that range. I think the company should have been more transparent regards to this. Instead of just advertising 307KM IDC. I do love my bike. but touring somewhere long is just scary and uncertain and carrying that heavy charger is more like riding the bike to a chiropractitioner. And since the charging port is type 6 which isn't a standard charging point across charging stations in India you have to carry the heavy charger and searching for 3 Pin connectors.

So you got 140km of highway range for 73% of battery. So to extrapolate that to 100% highway range of 190 to 200km - which is exactly what UV claims for their ballistic mode , on the website , on the spec sheet, on the vehicle display. So not sure how this is the surprise? I also use the bike and it is fairly obvious. IDC range is mostly used to compare vehicles even in cars like MG, Tata etc - that is more like city range.
@shiihong007
@shiihong007 Ай бұрын
@@tecnomaniac The reason I got that range was due to keeping the mode in glide and speed between 40 kmph to 55 kmph. Due to this the journey was longer. The bike has power and I felt like pushing the mode to combat and go high speed. But the range anxiety kicks in and you can't really do much. Another challenge was finding a charging point and waiting for 7 hours to get it back to 100% for return trip.

UV should've just given it CCS2 or type2 charging port. that single thing is holding Ev enthusiasts like myself from buying it. no need for 8L km warranty. 1L is enough. just give it CCS2 or atleast type 2.

1. Top speed on a dyno is irrelevant my old trusty CBR250R used to do 172 on dyno and never crossed 152 -155 and I was 57KG that time 😅 2. What are the parameters to claim battery pack warranty. Because Highest quality battery packs in Lithium ion space have averaged around 1000 cycles and 3000 cycles are unheard of and if you consider perfect conditions with 304KM range you still have to deal with 2600 plus cycles this feat is only been achieved by 0.2% of highest quality lithium ion cells in controlled conditions which is a far cry from a daily used motorcycle. What % of original capacity can constitute a Warranty claim. 80% is acceptable anything below that is unusable because of multiple factors in multi cell battery packs. 3. Why not take TVS’s help to streamline the production and Try to work on the production process and component sharing to make it a viable(and sensible) product to purchase. As a 8yrs of straight loss making does not promote the confidence in a manufacturer to be around long time .

1. Depends on the dyno.. there are customers in the comments who have achieved the same top speed.... calibrated dyno's add load to compensate for aerodynamic drag as it is evident here 2. well if that's the case how are there Tesla vehicles which are over 10 years old, have covered a million+ km and still at 95% of battery capacity.. .public data available on this 3. the reason why startups succeed is because they work independently..... 8 years..ever heard of Lindy effect? the longer something has been around, the longer it's likely to persist into the future.

@@tecnomaniac it's not easy to design,engineer and develop a motorcycle...with that level of performance and promises. That requires a good amount of testing and refining. So 8 years is a valid timeline for such a motorcycle. That's why now they have their confidence in their product and promise such warranty figures. Also they started their deliveries only in 2023...if am not wrong..! And now they have launched their MACH2. So for a homegrown brand delivering such a product with trust and quality...is crazy..!

Unlimited Range Hack. Get Pulsar NS400Z @2.2L on road istead off f77 @4.2L on road. Both has almost similar performance. Now u have saved 2L Spend the first 1L on petrol for 25,000km with 25kmpl mileage approximately! for next 2-3 years (8500 - 12,500kms/year). Service cost of petrol bike = both Charging and service cost of electric bike. Sell the 2.2L bike for 1.2L, now the Second 1L you saved will compensate the 1L you lost on selling Now Repeat this for total of 8years!!! The guy with f77 will now will have lost Battery warrenty of 8L Kms/8years. And you will be having a brand new Pulsar NS400Z!!
@Amuzic_Earth
@Amuzic_Earth Ай бұрын
It reminds me of that famous riddle of where is my 1 rupee gone?IYKYK. Let's do your math correctly about how much you actually spent, you first spent 2.2L, then you spent 1 lak on fuel(not adding the servicing as it gets negated by the charging cost+servicing cost of f77 as per your calculation, which is about right). So, your total expense so far 3.2 Lak, now you sell the NS at 1.2 Lak, so your effective expense is now 3.2 lak-1.2 lak= 2 lak, you now are buying another new NS which is 2.2 lak(considering there will be no inflation, which is not right), so your effective expense is 2 lak+2.2 lak=4.2 lak, now repeating the same calculation from before, 4.2 lak+1 lak(on fuel)=5.2 lak, you sell the bike at 1.2 lak, so effective expense 5.2-1.2=4 lak and buy another one so 4 lak+2.2 lak=6.2 lak...Let's just say you managed to do the iteration only upto this within the 8 years of time, which means by the end of 8 years, you will have spent 6.2 laks and a 3-4 year old NS or you spent 4.2 lak 8 years ago, invested the extra 2 laks and earned some more money and a 8 year old F77. Now does it look that bad? EV batteries actually have life of more than 12-15 yeaars if used properly, even if the battery goes bad, you can still replace the battery with that extra 2 lakhs you saved at this point of time.

@@Amuzic_Earth Unlimited Range Hack 2.0 U77 Recon UV care max 8 year extended warranty cost 40k , so bike costs 4.7L on road. Now Buy Ns400Z for 2.2L U have saved 2.5L from not buying f77 ( If you want to argue Petrol prices increases every year, then use 50K for petrol and invest 2L on gold for compensation) If not then spend 2.5L on Petrol with 25.5kmpl Mileage = 64,000Km You can drive 8000km/year for a total of 8years Now After 8 years the Guy with F77 has lost battery warranty. He will have to replace the battery for 2L in the next 7years , the new battery has warranty of 3 years only ( extra 40,000 for 8years warranty) Now Spend that 2L to 2.4L u saved from not buying battery on petrol U can drive 54,000 - 64,000km in 7years Approx 8000km per year Service cost of Ns400 equals Running and service cost of F77 Now it's been 15years both bikes have lost Validity of RC by govt law. I don't understand that this bike supports fast charging and have separate or dedicated port for charging/ proprietary charging port instead of DC fast charging, You can solve this problem by adding a DC fast charging port or adapter, thn people from any where can buy this bike with spending huge money on just charger. Charging anxiety can be avoided buy this, or I'll have to check with someone where that they can help with plug-in to their 15A socket and that's bit difficult to monetize(bill receipt). That's major reason not to my buy a super electric bike, as the charging socket / port is not regulated in India. If this problem is fixed there's a huge opportunity.

I don't understand the fact why these people ignore electricity expense while comparing it with fuel when it comes to ICE vs EV..!
@Amuzic_Earth
@Amuzic_Earth Ай бұрын
They usually don't ...only in this video I saw they completely ignored the electricity cost. The rule of thumb is for 2 wheelers the electricity cost is between 1/10th to 1/20th of your fuel cost, depending on riding style. So, at the worst, you will save 90% of your fuel cost, and at the best you will save 95% of your fuel cost. For 4 wheelers, this ratio is about 1/4th to 1/5th, so you will save anywehere between 75% to 80% of your fuel cost. And this figure only gets better over time, as fuel cost rises much faster than electricity cost, although that will be marginal over its lifetime.
