Thanks for taking the time to make this video. When I rebuilt my AC system, I replaced the resistor, which also stopped the fan humming sound. Unfortunately for me, this was not the only source of parasitic drain on my battery. My struggle continues!

It’s the radio too- it has a slight hum from the speakers 🔊 when everything is off just like the fan/light noise inside the dash. I’ve resorted to just pulling the fuses when I let it sit for more than a day. Fuse 28 for the fan/light and fuse 49 for the radio/computer. Now no more drain when it sits, is what it is or I could constantly remove the negative terminal when not using it on top of a tender but so far simply removing the those 2 fuses has done the trick. It’s got a full charge waiting every time the way it should now but obviously have to plug those 2 fuses back in which takes a quick second from the passenger seat. When I use it during a given day I don’t remove the fuses but after I’m done for several days to come I remove them real quick w tweezers easy as that. You could spend all day and night trying to make it work correctly but eventually you realize it’s more convenient to just make a logical solution

I know that hum, but I think the reason your radio is still on with fan is because of the resistor I mentioned. Try changing it, it's cheap and not hard👍

The fan noise is coming from a tiny muffin fan installed in the back of heater/AC controls panel. The fan draws air from the vehicle in through the tiny vent over a thermistor that provides the system with a hopefully accurate temperature reading so the automatic climate controls can behave correctly. It too should stop running after the 16 minute shut down period and there is no way that fan draws enough current to flatten the car battery in a couple of days. The battery drain is coming from all the devices that don't get shut off, probably including the radio amplifier.

Thanks for the tip man. Changed the resistor on my l322 -03 4,4lit about 5 years ago. But it may be time too do another change... Cheers!

As of late my battery has been draining very quickly (like 1 day) I don't drive the vehicle much it does sit, but I tend to start it every other day and drive it around my yard or around the block. When I get into the vehicle I hear a little (I guess FAN NOISE) behind the HVAC unit. So.... I jump the truck, get it going, AC works fine, blows nice and cold, red light in the dash goes off, I can drive. Now I turn the vehicle off, RANGE ROVER screen turns off nice and quick, but the red light stays on by (Park) symbol. I will go check regarding the time line of the red light going off.

Another fantastically educational video from Groove on. One question though, I've seen another similar video that mentions a relay in the rear fusebox that apparently gets hot and still drains the battery, it's located at the other opposite end from where the EAS relay sits. It is I believe the relay that operates/controls the fan blower motor. Are you aware of this at all and if so do you know the part number as I checked and that relay is missing from mine.

Very interesting information. Never noticed or thought about it. Thanks for sharing. I am having this unique battery drain problem lately. My alternator failed close to a year ago. I had that fixed and also had to replace the battery. From last few weeks I notice while the car is locked both indicator lights start flashing suddenly as they do with hazard switch. I also notice while they flash the red light under the rear view mirror blinks more frequently than usual. They also go off on their own or if I unlock and lock the doors again. I'm not sure if this is the reason but my battery died a few days back. I tried to jump start the car. Initially the other car engine was shut so it wasn't cranking properly. Then I tried with the other car engine running. It worked but probably because of the earlier mis-crank now I'm getting 'HDC inactive' and 'air suspension inactive' code and also a few lights including abs on in the dash. I tried to reset with turning the steering wheel but it doesn't work. I'd appreciate any suggestion to solve this flashing and battery draining issue.

Very interesting video. My mother has the 2008 Sport HSE and i have never noticed that. What i am curious about is what if you do not lock the car. Sometimes when its in the closed garage it might not get locked. Will the light stay on until the next day?

Should the little fan shut off as soon as you turn off the car ? Mine turns off after the 16 minute sleep test and I think drains my battery.
@GrooveOn Жыл бұрын
the little fan as you correctly said should go off after 16 mins. Is your battery old? If you buy a new one, please make sure you get a good quality battery the Range Rover L322 is a power hungry car ! I recommend Yuasa batteries, I installed three different batteries and this was the only one that kept the power especially in the winter !

I waited for for 15 minutes (nothing) waited like 20 minutes (nothing) right around 25 minutes then it goes out, so I ordered the final stage resistor piece. My battery is good, I can charge it with a little (AUDEW charge unit) and it will start right up. Now if someone can help me with the oil leak that leaves me with white smoke, I can't tell where it's leaking from, but I know it's getting on the pipe (because I can see it bubbling) and after a few minutes, big billowing white smoke. I don't overheat, my antifreeze isn't leaking into my oil or vice versa.

Does the red LED just stay on near gear shift? It means your car is not going to sleep and could drain batter y
