I've sent three links and I think the third one down is the correct gallery seal

G'Day Mike Yes please - put the BPSIT (brake piston seal insertion tool) schematics onto your web shop. As your well aware doing those seal by hand is a PITA. Thank you. Take care, have fun.

Mike, regarding the seal and bush in spacer, I’d say it’s just a matter of LR not keeping up with all the little changes that were done by their suppliers. When I rebuilt mine (98’ 110 front vented) they were not listed anywhere, even my local LR dealer had no idea and nothing on computer or micro. They actually only had one gallery seal listed even though there are 3 different types ( including the ones with steel tube support) . I know the main bit of this video is older and you’ve probably worked it out by now, but the short square profile O rings provided are not for that vented caliper spacer in any way. They are for the non vented calipers .

They look like my ldv400 1995...and l have to do mine too...but my van ....l think does not have that spacer. So we will observe this vide👍👍

Maybe on the spacing plate you could cut in a larger diameter recess around the existing hole and add an o ring that's readily available to fix the problem?

@@BritannicaRestorations oh, I thought you didn't have any replacements for the ones with the chewed rubber with steel inserts that fit in the vented spacer block?

callipers are a throw away item now - not worth the trouble - but fun to watch old school - parts are probably more expensive than new callipers

If a relatively new caliper has been sat about for 2 years doing nothing, should it be rebuilt or just washed?
@BritannicaRestorations Жыл бұрын
I would strip and inspect it - maybe just needs lubrication

I'd try testing alternatives that are to hand just to see as an experiment if it's even safely feasible to attempt an alternative fix,then get ludy to cycle the brake pedal for a week in the name of automative safety;)

I am sure these will be fine - but strange they are not in the kit or listed separately

I don't think those spacers are genuine , they are from non gen like you get from bearmach etc like the ones I have trouble with in the past I have some ap / lockhead in bits and the spacers only have a small hole and 2 square o rings one on the caliper and the other on the spacer, I can send a picture if this helps
@husq21004 жыл бұрын
@Simon Rowlands I rebuilt the factory fitted vented calipers on my 98’ 110 and they are exactly like Mikes in video. One long O ring with a steel support bush inside it. I also have another pair to be rebuilt and they are the same.
@BritannicaRestorations4 жыл бұрын
Correct - there may be a difference in caliper manufacture though - there were original 1990's Lockheed
