I had two 2019 Range Rover Sports in Jan 2023. I got letter re upgrade to security. I got it booked in following week. Work was done on both cars in a day. So I didn’t have to wait 3 months.

your dealer but have a lot of time on their hands considering they dont do PDIs on new cars anymore as theyre not selling. Others not as fortunate as you and in all that time the car is at high risk of theft.

Learnt nothing new with this video. Lots of reference to hearsay. The facts are: 1. JLR values are now going back up 2. You can insure these cars if you use the comparison sites to get the best premiums 3. Lots of other brands are just as easy to steal 4. All car insurance premiums are going up. Quote - ‘Any RR WILL BE stolen’ - this is bit of an exaggeration, many RR haven’t been stolen Quote - ‘Anyone can steal a RR’ - really??? Again not true, there is a little bit more involved that just buying a £20 gadget from Amazon Trackers and immobilisers are not installed in the same place, if you are using a reputable fitter Ghost cannot be disabled in 6 seconds Your best advice is ‘Do not buy a car’ - as an insurance broker that would mean you are out of business So many contradictions - Poor content, delivered in an uninformed way, should do better This ‘chat’ reminded me of ‘my mate down the pub said this……’ type of drunken conversation

Thank you for your comment. JLR prices have been hammered and still are, have you seen how many new cars are for sale and the discounts available? We do a monthly market analysis and the figures are eye watering. You can of course insure cars via the internet for low prices which equal low quality policies without agreed value etc so not fun when negotiating the value of your stolen car with an insurer that will only pay market value not agreed value. Yes many other brands that have keyless entry are stolen - Bentley Bentayga, RR Cullinan, Lexus RX to name a few however none as easy to sell on the black market as Range Rovers are. All car insurance premiums are going up due to inflation and thefts. Many not recovered due to low priority from the policy probably because theyre insured so who cars. Manufacturers need to do more (as JLR are saying they are) to prevent theft and beef up security at the ports etc. I wonder what difference it has made, if any. Yes any RR could be stolen, might be an exaggeration but its the risk of ownership which you cant deny. Would you have 100% faith every night going to bed knowing your car will still be there the next day and someone hasnt tried to break in and steal your keys. We've had this conversation many times with people wanting quotes but scared to buy the car in the end. The point where anyone can steal a car means you dont have to be a clever thief, its easy, thats the point. JLR immobilisers can be disabled in 6 seconds. Ghosts can be cut and disabled in however long that short time takes because they can still get entry to the car and there are only a few points where they are installed, ive seen them be installed. Fine it, cut it and disables it. Other products they dont. Dont buy a JLR if you want to sleep well at night - yes. Appreciate your input. We will use these points on our next video.

Sorry guys. Your video is plainly wrong in many places and very unprofessionally delivered. The data from insurance companies and JLR supports the fact that newer JLR cars are stolen less frequently. We also know that the software security updates (most recent update addresses both keys now) does enhance the security protection available in older models including pre 2018 models. There are also other measures that can be employed (steering locks, faraday boxes, disabling keyless entry, ghosts etc) to add additional layers of security which some insurers are happy to accept in return for lower premiums. No brand can protect against a car being craned onto a low loader. The number of JLR cars stolen, with ghosts fitted, is in single figures (according to research obtained from Autowatch UK). You cannot deactivate a ghost in 6 seconds. Get your facts researched more accurately.

JLR make their own numbers up, only insurers know the real data - please share the links to the theft figures from insurance companies you are referring to. But with a ghost everyone knows if you find the ghost system and cut the wire it disables the ghost, even most insurance companies dont know that but we do because of the security training we have. There are even better products that ghost. Steering wheel locks attract zero discount as you can prove it was fitted or not at the time of a theft, yes preventions are great tools and should be used to avoid a theft if you can but thieves are still able to steal any car. I didnt say you can dissactivate a ghost in 6 seconds im referring to the manufacturer immobiliser and there are videos and evidence proving this. All our facts are researched and factual, please do share yours so we can do a specific video in response to this comment alone. Thank you.

Not saying it’s not serious. I can still get reasonable insurance Qoutes but maybe that’s due to living the other side of the country. I think any car brand the uses keyless tech is vulnerable to theft and any manufacturer installed security kit irrespective if insurance approved is more likely to be defeated, due to standard fit outs in most cars/bikes and so on.. All I do is a signal blocking box and have a really good independent tracker. But there is a clear issue with port security or and corruption and also with Policing. So maybe you insurance companies should pile pressure on the government and authorities to crack down on it… especially since insurance companies have increased premiums across the bored maybe you need to work harder if you ask more from customers????.

all valid points re policing etc however lets start with the issue first which is the manufacturer selling cars with inadequate security. If the cars had superior immobilisers and trackers on them the insurance rates would be lower. Insurance companies react after events and adjust their rates accordingly not the other way round. Build a poorly secure product and you get poorly rated policies same vice versa. JLR arent doing their part to reduce theft enough even with the upgrades they have done which are still inadequate for the issue at hand.

insurance companies set the rates you are correct, we are an insurance broker here to sell those policies to customers who value our service and need them the most. Motor insurance has gone up considerably for many reasons, inflation and theft being two reasons.

I’ve just insured my Range Rover Sport (on multicar policy with Admiral) the price actually dropped £200 from last years premium. Maybe this is as much an issue as it is being made to be.

do you mean isnt? We get calls daily with people having issues. Does seem newer models are getting easier to insure but its still very expensive however if you buy cheap insurance you get a. cheap product, checkout the lovely facebook pages about admiral's disgruntled customers.

1. keyless entry can be disabled by the owner. 2. imagine a society where there is no effective policing. That's what we have in London/UK. The thieves are not joyriders, this is organised crime. London has thousands of CCTV cameras yet plod can't recover the stolen vehicles or catch the gangs involved? Must try harder. Maybe take a break from online hate crime monitoring? 3. I believe most are exported so where are the checks at ports? Another total govt failure.

Damage has already been done now, you can get a 2018> SVR for 50k now. This was a 70-80k car probably only a year ago. This problem will only deepen once peoples insurance policies come up for renewal. JLR have simply been too slow with the updates. Currently offer nothing for 2018< cars and some 2018> owners still waiting for first contact, let alone the update itself. So glad I recently traded in my 2016 Sport before they became a sub 10k car 😮

you did the right thing, you're correct the damage is done. Is insurance getting easier to get on Range Rovers from cheap insurance companies because values are now half what they were a year ago? Also have you seen the huge discounts on offer for new Range Rovers? We do a monthly market analysis and the volume of cars for sale with huge discounts is eye watering
