I added a phone power pack into the wiring config and put that above the roof liner so I have power all the time. This cable plugs into the power pack so when ignition is on the power pack gets charged and then a small usb cable to the camera

Any issues with the heat? I would be worried about the battery pack exploding.

Shame there was a problem with the earlier cable that also had the permanent feed for the dashcam's parking mode. In the end I had mine professionally wired back to the fuse box.

The 3rd wire we thought was a battery live but it is a door open signal ! Do not use the 3rd wire (red)
