Excellent informative video. Thank you for sharing. I have a 2011 5.0 supercharged rr and just now managed to take out the supercharger unit. I could only reach the connections on the back of the supercharger by first removing the two side pieces from the middle main unit of the supercharger The pita bolt was readily accessible. To be continued. In for an ounce, in for a pound

Great video. Thank you it was a huge help. I was taking off my intake manifold to repair a coolant leak at the plastic hose in the back and to rebuild the supercharger. As a tip I may have stumbled across. As I had to take the plenum off (as shown about 25:10) I realized taking both plenums off while still in the vehicle I was able to better get at the hoses, wiring and bolts at the back side. Especially the bolt that gave you so much trouble. It is easy to reach once the drivers side plenum and supercharger are out of the way.

Great video! Very informative…thank you for posting…just needed a review of what the scope was…have had to do all of this on my Jeep, along with oil cooler replacement, rocker arms, pcv, sensors, transmission work, etc (I could go on, but I digress) also on my husband Subaru… so a friend wanted me to diagnose after looking over and running a scan, he has ask me to fix his car after him being quoted 5k, and a dealer saying just to replace engine for more…we agreed on payment, and so on…like I said I appreciate the video, very well done!

Really informative, thanks. Tip for bleeding coolant: fill bit by bit, sticking a vacuum cleaner that can do water on the reservoir after each top up. 2 or 3 cycles and all the air is out. Never have an issue bleeding anymore, 5 mins max.

Any suggestions on how to remove a seized supercharger bolt? Not sure if it’s safe to use heat (maybe an induction heater?) since the heads are aluminum? Great video though. I’ll be using this as one of my reference videos when I do my timing chain. Might as well replace the valve cover gaskets as well.

@EngineInformant Жыл бұрын
Yes you have to remove the injectors so you will need a tool to do so, There are 2 different types, i thought i had shown them. Be prepared to break them but they are fairly cheap ($100 or so each). Make sure to lube them going back in. Oh and use OEM gaskets from JLR not others that say they are oem

Sir, did you use sealant for any of your gaskets, especially the valve covers? Thank you
@EngineInformant Жыл бұрын
I wish I did. I already have failing gaskets 30k miles later. Mostly this is a problem with manufacturers lying saying parts are oem but are not. Some say to replace valve covers while doing this but at the end of the day the gasket quality controls the outcome.
@nonion2003 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply. Sadly the original covers are known to warp, so replacing just the gaskets is a temporary measure. A drop of sealer is also required at some of the corners.

You looks like you have a lot of knowledge, in fact I have question if you can help me, I changed spark plugs and all the gaskets, timing job , changed the supercharger with used one and also I changed the pcv both about 2k before doing all the other jobs, however after changing everything I drove the car and it was fine but after about 500 miles the car was buffing a little bit of smoke when start it after sitting for couple hours or in the morning, i was thinking it’s the pcv so I opened it and it was full with oil clogged and oil was in the breathing hose, I changed the pcv and cleaned them and the smoke was much leas but still a little bit also I still see some oil inside the pcv hose where it’s going to the Throttle-body, my question is how it’s possible that the pcv get super dirty and clogged after leas that 2k of replacement and why there is still oil passing to the pcv hose ? Do you think there’s maybe problem with the engine cover gasket installation? Or maybe the supercharger, I don’t know I’m confused I just want to hear your opinion
@EngineInformant4 жыл бұрын
Tyipcaly with anything serious you will get obd codes. On another note it is typical to have oil in intake etc from supercharged and turbocharged vehicles. Both my rrs and my old sc f150 did have a puff of smoke on initial start up. This can be fixed with a catch can assuming theres not a huge amount of itm
@moneymoney92873 жыл бұрын
@@EngineInformant what is a catch can bc my 2010 blows white smoke when 1st starting then it goes away then after it sits a minute it starts again when cranking I think a head gasket cracked what's the best thing to use
