I wished I could share with you, but, I am still learning myself 6 months later!! 100% for trying. You finished on a better note. My grand daughter when she was four years old would say grandma you must "try, try & try again". So keep up the good work. I look forward to watching your next invention! Thank you! Your granddaughter is right! Plus, not knowing how to do something and trying to figure it out is part of the fun! I am so jealous of your weather right now! We had 95F in Alabama today, but yesterday it was 101F! It felt like 115F.

People are the same in the jewelry business. They won't share their tips re: specific metalsmith techniques. Lovely piece, by the way.

You're looking for Myriam's videos on youtube. She gives all the tips on getting the smoke effect, using Dura-Lar Matte. She also has multiple videos about alcohol inks as well as other media.

Christine Lynn I have since figured it out on my own, but I searched high and low on KZbin and did not come up with anything until after this video. After this video I have found like 3. Go figure. 😂 Would have been super helpful a couple months ago! Myriam's videos have already been suggested to me and I plan to watch them and try some of her methods. They look awesome!

Myriams Nature shows everything in detail. Even how to use the mixatives, she dilutes them.
@DeliriArt6 жыл бұрын
Sandy taylor Thank you. Her video on the wispy effect came out a month after this, and it seems a few more by other artists came out after that, too.. I wish it had been around when I was searching because I liked the method of diluting inks and it would have made a few things easier for me. But by the time it came out I had already figured it out through trial and error. That said, what she shows in her video is not what I was trying to achieve. I am going to make a video with examples and showing the process as I figured it out. What I was trying to get is closer to what I got in the video after this. It is hard to explain, and I guess wispy can mean different things, so I should just show it.

Wow Anna, this is incredible! 😊 I've always wanted to try alcohol inks and the effect you got is so stunning and intricate. I use mainly coloured pencils but would really like to use looser mediums so thank you for this 😊 I have liked & subscribed!

Thank you, Amy! :) I love alcohol inks, but they are fugitive and so that makes me less likely to work with them. But they are sooo fun! I have recently discovered watercolors and I'm in love! I also love color pencils and have used them more than any other medium, I think, but I'm always sore after working with them. :/ I subscribed to your channel as well! :)

I'm glad you found it useful. Alcohol inks are challenging. I've learned to follow their lead. Lol. My process for worki g with them has changed. I'm much more relaxed. I place down a color and kind of see what it wants to do and go from there. Thanks for watching! 😊💙

Absolutely STUNNING piece! May I ask what inks/ colours you used?

Thank you! I used Ranger inks on Dura-lar paper. I believe the exact colors were Stream, Butterscotch, and Wild Berry (I think that is what the magenta was called). They sell those as a set and it works great as a primary triad. You can make just about any color with those 3.

A heat gun or blow dryer or canned air can give a good blend.

Melody Axe Yep. I use my hair dryer now. My issue was that I was overworking it and adding too much ink. Overworking my art is still something I struggle with, but I'm getting better. :)

Of all the trendy art out there alcohol inks are the one I want to master most, with very lil results so far, I'll get it LOL! I know what you mean about sharing I see many pieces around the internet I would love to see a video on, however, trying to find ones own goal, maybe experimenting is the most fun and along the way find a way by yourself......that's very satisfying! I love your vids...….thank you!

Yes! I figured this out a while back by just trying a gazillion different things. I have another AI video I'm editing and will upload very soon where that is one of the methods I use on claybord. I am still afraid to do it on my duralar and I don't have the thick yupo. But lucky for me I have the clayboard panels and plenty of white painted aluminum panels. :)
