I don't get the panic here. This was nothing like when they got outplayed by Carolina for a couple games. Rangers gave up one soft goal that Igor would certainly want back, one flukey own goal, and an empty netter. Sure, they didn't get a ton of shots, but they had plenty of chances...2 breakaways, 2 posts, several missed open nets. I'm still not sure how Wennberg didn't bury his glorious chance in the 3rd, but he couldn't score in a brothel. Any one of those chances goes in, and it's a different game. They're fine.

The overreactions are everywhere. Game 1 and first time playing against a physical scheme. My take is they made the decision to not match Florida’s aggressive physical contact which could be argued as charging or roughing. It didn’t work because the refs allowed it. But they did create a bunch more high danger chances and just didn’t put the biscuit in the basket. Well Laffy did anyway for the other team…

Bruins fan, we said the same thing! Breakaways by guys you want to have them (Pastrnak, DeBrusk, Coyle) and didn't bury them, not enough shots on Bob, hit posts and missed wide. Florida's luck has to run out soon. At least you guys got the refs to disallow an obvious goalie interference.

@@Bruin88 Lol yeah we got that call. It was pretty alarming to learn 5 goalie interference calls happened during this postseason, and Florida was the one accused of all of them - only penalized once… now twice.

The Rangers just got outplayed. The Panthers beat us physically they just played much better. The reason the Rangers struggled moving the puck is because the Panthers are so good on defense.

OK I’m not that familiar with Matt Rempe (Live out of state and cheap bas tard put my streaming on pause after Super Bowl) but he skates well especially for a big man, very much knows how to deliver a check, could possibly screen Godzilla and most importantly will put his heart and soul on the ice Friday night. Some fans feel that the Rangers played well? Come on, they went over 16 minutes without a shot on goal during a stretch of the game, and only had 12 shots through 2 periods. That's almost a full period without any shots. This is the ECF, not a regular season game. Totally inexcusable performance for the most part. That being said, they were only within 1 single goal, before the dumb 2nd goal late in the game. They need to score some goals to win the game, otherwise they are finished, and it will be a short series. But in Game 1, the Panthers absolutely smothered the Rangers.

As a Panthers fan, I would suggest putting Rempe in, even if it is for a few shifts. The Rangers showed absolutely nothing from their bottom six, no energy at all. Rempe might get a 5-7 minutes of ice time, but he may bring some energy to the Rangers bench. What you saw from the Panthers last night was just a glimpse of what they can do. That wasnt close to their A game, as I know the Rangers didnt bring their A game either. The time off threw both teams off a bit, as was evident with the Panthers versus the Bruins in Game 1. The Panthers are best even strength team, and the forecheck is second to none. They put so much pressure on the Rangers Dmen, that they are bound to make mistakes. You saw it last night, and you will see it again all series long.

One saving grace is that there are a lot of similarities with the 1994 Stanley Cup Champions, in, that team, too, was a bit of Cardiac Rangers, but, in the long run, won it all. Igor has really got to step up & be that Henrik The King Lundqvist of Goalies, or else, I don't see him in The Rangers' Long Term Plans. Let me know what you think

Great Video, as usual, Evan. I only saw the Highlights, but, I think that BOB played a very good game, but, as you say, it looks like he wasn't tested. I think that Crazy Goal was so absurd. I understand that LaF was trying to help, but, it was obviously going nowhere near the net. I think that they didn't really show up last night. BOB definitely played well, even the fact one went by him & there were no Rangers there to hit the Open Net. Let me know what you think.

This is a very tough opponent for the Rangers, or any other team in the league. They have a relentless forecheck, they play a tough game, and the Rangers just look very small. They couldn't beat the Panthers in regulation during the regular season, not counting the shootout, and the Rangers having to win 4 times in the next 6 games, seems like a longshot at this point. They need to capitalize on the few chances they do get, and they must get more pucks on net, because Bobrovsky will not let in any soft goals, like Andersen did for Carolina. It's a must win on Friday night in Game 2 now, otherwise it may very well be a short series, if not a complete sweep.

As a South Florida resident and fan, I think Game 1 pretty much went as expected. Game could have gone either 1 depending on a few breaks. Bottom line is Florida is completely dominant in the corners and behind the net. They will continue to dominate play. However, because of the pressure, they will give up some great opportunities. Keys are simple... Florida needs to limit power plays and breakaways and odd man rushes. Rangers need to score on special teams and convert a high percentage of their chances. If Florida stays close on special teams to the Rangers, they only way the Rangers can win is with their goalie continuing to stand on his head. Problem for Rangers is that Officer Bob, when 'on' is every bit as good as Shesterkin.

I agree with most but dominant is a bit much. Rangers spent quite a bit of time cycling in the Panthers end, and fought pucks in their own zone. The Rangers simply didn’t match Florida’s hard hitting style - maybe a conscious decision but it didn’t offer any man-advantages as the refs allowed it. Sometimes they don’t… But it did create some odd-man rush opportunities and sustained pressure. They didn’t cash in and Bob made some key saves. That’s how it goes in the playoffs. Curious to see whether Laviolette calls for a more physical style Game 2. I think he doesn’t and it comes down to converting the chances.

@@michaelbacchiocchi8111 To clarify... Florida is dominant along the boards... that is their play style. They don't get a lot of breakaways and odd-man rushes with the dump it in and chase style they play. Basically, throughout this series, I'd expect the Rangers to have fewer chances but higher quality chances (just like Game 1) when they get them. If see Rangers winning if they beat Florida on special teams. At the end of the series, if special teams are even or close to even, I'd expect that Florida will be on top.

This is a problem rangers coaching staff need to solve. This is a strategic issue, not an execution issue. The rangers were being choked to death, and the strategy mismatch is what was causing the players to fail. So it’s not entirely on the players. If Rangers want to win, it’s what adjustments the coaching staff will make.
