It's gotta be hard because how do you compare legacy dungeon graces to open world graces? Most people don't even find all of them, even those who explore a lot, so I guess those would be last but then all the graces at the beginnings of caves, catacombs, heroes graves and the DLC gaols are all pretty much the same and offer nothing unique. Every single one can slot into vibes and/or function, with all the best graces having both, so it'd be a good list at the top with a whole lot of who cares.

10:09 Another thing I'd like to mention about the Main-gauche is that it is power stanced with thrusting swords, which specifically have the second power stance attack be the main hand weapon thrusting 3 times in a row. Basically, it's a dagger that is historically used in fencing, and that is reflected in the gameplay. Don't know if that will make it much better, but it's a cool fact none the less

I mean, it makes MORE sense into why it's literally named "Left hand" in the french language and it makes sense into why it sucks unless paired with a better weapon in game, it's meant the thrusting swords (also since it has buckler parry animation which is some of the better I-frames for parrying, it pairs with the thrusting swords which commonly come with a better crit rating like the dagger weapons)

Thing to note: modding can get you banned from online play if you don't take the necessary precautions, this is only a problem if you like online play though.

I love Moonrithyl's knight sword because way back in the day I was mad at how pointless the troll knight sword was and I suggested that it should have greatblade phalanx as an ash of war, since we see troll knights using their swords as a catalyst to cast it and colossal swords cannot use the glintblade phalanx ash of war. So as you can imagine I was sitting there slack jawed when I played the DLC and realized that they literally took the troll knight sword, gave it greatblade phalanx as an ash of war, but made it an entirely new weapon, making the troll knight sword that much more useless in comparison, I will never not find that extremely funny

Here’s the thing. When comparing Sword of Light and Sword of Darkness, Sword of light’s skill has a massive disadvantage compared to sword of darkness: the buff it gives you is a body buff. Meaning it has to contend with flame grant me strength, howl of shabriri, ironjar aromatic, and bloodboil aromatic. For pure holy builds you can say sword of light is better since howl of shabriri is the only one of those other buffs that affects holy damage, as well as lowers your damage negation, but on normal builds, flame grant me strength will just be better since along with giving the same amount of physical damage increase, it also boosts your stamina regeneration speed

For a pure hily build I like to think that both swords should be used in tandem. As in buffs your holy damage and the other debuffs the opponents holy negation = A shit load of holy damage

Ghostflame literally only has Death’s Poker going for it. THAT’S IT! Even the ghostflame ignition ash of war (that is a direct replica of Death’s Poker’s skill) is god awful. It doesn’t help that the sorceries are split between Int and Faith (for no god damn reason). At least if your level 792, you can utilize the Prince of Death Staff which buffs the sorceries.

In most builds that I’ve seen use Helphen’s Steeple, it’s used as a way to powerstance with MLGS because it’s also a good greatsword that inflicts frostbite. My point was that MLGS should not be one of, if not, the best weapon in the entire game for as long as it has. I want stuff like Helphen’s Steeple to be the highlight of more builds while dog shit weapons like the Fork Tongue Hatchet get buffed to compete with better weapons. I will reiterate, Helphen’s Steeple is a great weapon, but is outclassed and I only wish for better weapons to get nerfed and bad weapons to get buffed to change up the balance of the game.

Compared to the Immolation Tender, Heyzel Pick, and Demon Scar the Carrion Sorcery Sword really does leave a lot to be desired. The first one actually has respectable damage and a unique weapon skill that could've been great. Meanwhile the other two both have at least one spell they can cast that will true combo after a weapon swing. Not to mention the Heyzel Pick is actually acquirable quite early into DS3. Like imagine Carrion Slicer with the range of a halberd that would've been nuts the play with assuming it worked like the DS3 version of the spell did with the Immolation Tender.

What drives me crazy is that this gimmick is exactly what they should have done with the Carian Knight Sword. It literally says in the freaking description that it’s embedded with glintstone specifically so that it can be used as a catalyst. And it’s not even infusable! So here I am stuck using Carian Sovereignty on the goddamn Twinned Knight Swords (which is actually pretty fun lol).

You can get a holy weapon buff while also having the sacred affinity, through the Sacred Blade weapon ash. Since it buffs your weapon after using it, the extra boost to buffs from the Blacksteel weaponry means that a sacred Sacred Blade infusion might be better than going standard with Order's Blade.

Side note on the Stone-Sheathed Sword: it is the only straight sword that deals strike damage and when used against enemies that are weak to strike, it will out damage any other straight sword. Still niche, but it does have a use as a weapon. Also does slightly higher stance damage. If From just gave it a bit more AR, it would’ve been a great weapon

Great Katana at #44 when Rakshasa is #15 is diabolical. You can infuse the Great Katana with ashes of war such as Blood Tax and Repeating thrust, you can apply Bloodflame blade to it, it works amazingly with multi-hit talismans, it procs bleed extremely quickly, and a bonus, if you do choose to use Blood Tax it works great with bloodsucking tear because of the healing. Easily top 5 weapon

The Putrescence Cleaver (and putrescence itself) is most likely made of Albinauric Goo, they wanted to be mysterious though so they hint at this by this weapons scaling and the congealed putrescence item description “The putrescence is what remains of the impure lives kept within the stone coffins.” This line in particular as its almost the same description on the albinauric bloodcloat

I think that the GK is a top 5 weapon (not just in the DLC, but the whole game). I might be a bit generous, but it has soooo many things going for it. And you can get help from a whole festival to beat base-game Radahn, and you basically just need Wild Strikes/ Spinning Strikes paired with Bloodflane Blade to cheese Mohg. That means that it really isn’t that hard to get this thing pretty early on.

When you eventually get to making the every weapon video I think shields should be rated based on how good they are at blocking instead of being a weapon, and thus shields that can be used for combat get a slight boost in that department

I have to personally disagree on Sword of Light being better than Sword of Darkness. The holy buff applied is functionally the same, except for the fact that Darkness debuffs the enemy, whereas Light is categorized as a body buff. This means that Light overrides buffs like Flame, Grant me Strength or any defense buffs. Darkness, on the other hand, can stack with body buffs.

I like Milady's 2 handed moveset but it has an additional benefit I don't see anyone talking about: the guard counter is 2 hits, which means you can stack the curved sword and multi-hit talismans with lord of blood's exultation. On an arcane build with the dragon communion seal as your side arm you can turn anything into mulch.

Rusty, you can't grease occult infused weapons in vanilla. Also, the bleed infusion performs worse than occult on any weapon with innate bleed. Occult increasing arcane scaling makes the total bleed higher 9/10 times.

Just a random thing to mention about the Backhand Blades in general, but their two-handed guard counter might be one of the most devastating in the game, primarily because they hit a stupid number of times. We're talking about the potential of over 2k damage with one guard counter if you build it right. Just wanted to mention it, because I found out later and I was pretty shocked.

I was doing an overencumbered playthrough a while ago, and to add on to the backhand blade's 1 handed R2 covering an incredible distance, if you mash R2 -> R1 -> R2 -> R1, you actually travel at a respectable speed compared to walking, which is incredible when you consider it's FP-free, comes with decent attacks, has very little lag, and works while carrying sisyphus' boulders in your spare hand slots to activate Verdigris Discus.

"No point in looking at any infusion other than blood" for the Bloodfiend's Fork is a bit disingenuous, considering it's the highest AR spear with Flame Art / Sacred infusions + 80 FTH. Same for the Bloodfiend's Arm btw. These 2 weapons have a bug where the Faith scaling will increase the physical damage (in addition to Fire and Holy). Considering the game is likely to receive only 1 more patch, there's a big chance this bug will never be fixed

Counterpoint to the Main Gauche: It's a dagger that enables the Rapier powerstance moveset w/ another rapier, which lets you get 3 mainhand pokes on the 2nd L1. Combined with having a parry handy it's a great tool to pair w/ Antspur, Carian spell rapier or the like. So it's less about the weapon itself, granted, but that unique property makes it really good in proper context.

Can't you slap Parry on regular Thrusting Swords, though? It's not like the Wakizashi where dual Katanas can't equip Parry natively. You get the better parry animation, but it was already doable if you wanted, with better paired damage and range from using a second Thrusting Sword.

I’ve never tried, I know it existed in DS2, but i’d hazard that a better parry animation Is a pretty solid point in its favor. Sure if you don’t need it then you don’t need it, but it does still have a good parry regardless. And provides the other benefits of powerstancing.

Dryleaf are without the doubt my favorite weapons from has ever created, i always wanted to just punch and kick enemies to death but fist weapons never really cut it for me (mainly due to lack of kicks). Now they only need to add bike or lamp stand as a weapon and i can finally finish my Kazuma Kiryu build.

I KNEW the Pata would be up there. As soon as I picked it up I was surprised with just how good it is. The 1h heavy attacks charge incredibly fast so it's good for heavy spam and poise breaking, it hits really fast with duel wield so it's good for status, it's as light as most straight swords so you can wield a good shield for guard counters, it's stat requirements are really low (11/15) so anyone can use it, infusable/buffable, AND has a decent reach to it. It just does everything.

#44 Great Katana with Occult affinity and Savage Lions Claw was... a sight to behold. That thing straight up carried my ass through large stretches of the DLC, and was my fall back plan after the final boss folded my stone dragon form dragon mage build in half and started using it for slam dunk practice. I spent days trying to beat him like that, I gave up, went back to my Great Katana, threw on the heaviest armor I could wear and barely scrape under fat rolling and unga-bungad my face into that wall until it broke... the wall, not my face... and it did *NOT* take long for that wall to break.

The finger staff can shoot all types of spells and if you are a filthy animal you can animation cancel cast things that definitely shouldn't shoot as fast as a soul arrow.
