Yeah. Basically they cut Sonic's personality entirely after brawl. He used to have those angry and impatient idle animations which fit his character perfectly and referenced his angry idle animations in Sonic CD, but it got changed to just happily waiting, which makes him look more like an innocent character, rather than an angry, impatient and egotistical one

I saw Bowser Jr. use his (I think) down taunt in Beefy Smash Doods’ Smash Review to fake out his opponent by tricking them into expecting a Side-B. It’s the rare taunt with some potential competitive use.

@@Linscha-Penguin-Mafia Yeah. I played Alot of the 3D Games, and 3D World is probably where he is very goofy. Beginning cutscenes he pops out of a clear pipe, the bottom of him is squished. Also he magically pulls Jars out of no where. And Meowser, sure he was serious, but come on how can you take this adorable guy seriously. This guy also had a pretty cool car. I just hope he had Car Insurance on that. Speaking of the Car battles, when you beat him the whole bridge falls and he just floats for a few seconds cartoony style and falls. During his car boss battles if you don't move or try to get close to him, he's like, "Hey Come on let's fight" yeah 3D World has a bit of a cartoony approach which is pretty cool.

Mario Odyssey, at the ending, he tried to get Peach with him over Mario, then Mario and Bowser start arguing and Peach rejects both of them. They both are sad with Mario comforting Bowser, which is pretty hilarious.

It's nice to hear somebody who enjoys the current "Sonic Speed!" taunt. While it's no "You're too slow!", I personally just really dig Sonic's delivery in that line. As much as I enjoy the thumbs-up Mario taunt, I do slightly miss his Mega Mushroom one from before. Obviously, it wouldn't work in the context of Ultimate and how it shortened taunts, but I like seeing Mario turn huge even if it makes him a giant target. For Bayonetta and Wolf, I like the up and side animations respectively. Wolf's "Are you scared?" fits his intimidating vibe well, but the line from Brawl, "What's the matter, scared?", was cooler. Likewise, Bayonetta's up taunt looked more elegant in Smash 4 with the long animation and the voice line was much better synced. Even so, the idea of taunting is fun. I like breaking them out while brawling against the AI or family. Very nice video.

I don’t like R.O.B.’s taunts here that much for one reason: he still turns 90 degrees. In Brawl it was good because he faced directly forwards when idle and turned to face the camera for his taunts. But in 4 his idle faces the screen a bit more, but he still turns the same and just looks off to the side. I’m upset that they didn’t fix this in Ultimate.

Something you didn’t mention about the inkling taunts is two of them are references to the actual in game communication methods in splatoon :) being “this way” and “booyah” both having a unique animation based on weapon but the ones in smash line up with the splattershot the inkling uses! About your #162 (Mythra's down taunt), it's actually a massive meme in the Xenoblade community because, at launch, some early game enemies were WAAAY too loud and kept repeating the same 3 lines over and over again, including this one, and there are several points when you have to fight a few of them at the same time, and it was so atrocious it was hilarious. Sadly (or not) the developers very quickly toned them down in order to make it more bearable, and then referenced it in the DLC (and here in Smash).

Honestly, Byleth doesn’t deserve the hate. It’s just that the last time we got a Fire Emblem DLC character, it was Corrin, who sucked as a character, was only in the game to advertise Fire Emblem Fates, and said game was really bad. Meanwhile, Three Houses was great, with great story and characters, and sold very well. Byleth just got saddled with being the last character of the first DLC pack, and was a huge letdown in terms of what the pack was. If Byleth were introduced at a different time, their inclusion wouldn’t have been so divisive.

The Inkling up and down ones are based on callout animations from the base games! Up taunt is the "This way!" Or "C'mon!" animation that's pretty much what it says on the packet, calling your teammates over. The down taunt is something thats sometimes used as a genuine taunt in-game, "Booyah!". Fun fact, the voicelines for each one in smash correlate to the voicelines used in the base games when you actually do it. Its pretty common practice in Splatoon fandom to booyah when you get someone, so at least one of them makes sense. ("This way" could also make sense in some situations, unless inkling's alone.)

​@@captainpep3Corrin in Smash is the same character as Corrin in FE, compared to Roy where they basically made up a a character because Roy from FE was just too boring apparently. Corrin instead remains as lame as usual. Why couldn't we have Hector instead...
