The S is good for ashes but where it and other similar weapons do the best is ng+ levels with 60+ str and 60+ faith on flame art. Watchdogs specifically getting better than even the other str S's at C str and B faith. The lack of flaming strike for the buff does lower it a bit on the list in that context but it's still good.

@@ibimsdeutsch77 it adds five points to all of your attributes for 1 minute. It also boosts poise for 5 seconds, and I don’t think the buff deactivates if you switch weapons. The damage isn’t outstanding, but 5 points for everything, even if only briefly, is still really good early to mid-game. Whereas Zweihander is a good sword with good damage, a good move-set, and infusible with ashes of war. Zweihander definitely wins, but Grafted Greatsword is definitely underrated.
