Ranking Every CANCELLED Animated Movie...

We've covered a LOT of CANCELLED productions on the channel now. And with us passing 30 projects so far, I thought perhaps it was time to recontextualise them with a ranking of which ones I would most want to see. Going from Worst to Best, we will see all the scenarios that leave a project unfinished. Be it CEO hijinks, corporate shuffling, complex ideas, or not enough interest. This is a trait that has affected every studio, from Disney and Pixar, to DreamWorks, Sony and even Blue Sky Studios. Everyone loves a finished animated movie! But there's something magical thinking about the lost media projects that never got made. So here is our comprehensive Ranking Of Every Cancelled Animated Movie.

with how much of a production nightmare frozen 2 was and it's obviously rushed and unclear storytelling, it just makes gigantic's cancellation that much more just tragic, i thought it was a unique and intriguing take on an already well-known story, it deserved better than what we got for frozen 2

He won't cover it as he only seems to want to cover 3D mostly and most Asian outputs use traditional handdrawn animation. Also did like his comment earlier saying "I prefer you 3D and I know you guys do too" comment...*sigh* don't speak for me. Honestly, comments like that stops me from being a sub and full time watcher his channel and I end up just being a casual watcher. Also, the editing and pace of his video is way too manic for my liking. Hurts my head a little.

Thing is for most videos of this style it’s a lot more either what their talking about (board art, scenes etc), background distraction (videos games, satisfying stuff, etc), and usually is either synced with their topic with a long video to show what’s being discussed. With a cut every 15 to 20 seconds it definitely gives a whiplash effect. But to each person their on and it’s his style🤷‍♂️

Agreed. Hurt my head and felt like I was getting heart palpations. He kept saying "we covered" and but then says "I covered". What is it...does he work alone or does he have a team with editors. Which is it. It's not like the most inventive or creative form of editing. He's mostly just speaking in a mic from a script and making pretend 'ad-libs'. Honestly, he's way too manic at times, too fast, editing too fast and choppy...it actually stops me from being a full time sub and I end up just retreating to being a casual watcher. Also he keeps saying he's covered cancelled projects...he hasn't, he only covered the last decade or two and has a bias on just 3D animation. There are many traditional 2D animation even in Disney's early days that have been cancelled. I like the dude but watching a full hour video with his choppy speed, pretend ad libs, his shallow exploration on other non-3D, non western media and making out he is the "king of this" when he's younger than me and I'm 30 makings it all very distracting imo. I don't think I will do another long video of him again. Still, credit due, he presented his arguments well and was a interesting if incomplete list.

Hey just thought I would let you know, the main protagonist for Me and My Shadow is called Daniel Grubb and his Shadow is called Dan or shadow dan. Yes they were called Stanley and Stan earlier in production but before it was cancelled they were called Daniel and Dan as mentioned by crew members when they have shared their work for the film.

Dreamworks B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherwordly Operations. Had a full voice cast, had merchandise release, and was going to go up against Inside Out. Animation was nearly finished- then they just threw it out. Very weird.

My favorite movie franchise and video game franchise is Madagascar and Sly Cooper. And it's sad that both Madagascar 4 and Sly Cooper movie git cancelled. I wasn't a fan a Sly Cooper yet.I was a big Madagascar fan. when I was little.Until my oldest brother had got a PS3 in 2014 for Christmas and had Batman Beyond Gotham and The Sly Cooper Collection. Ever since I watched my brother play the trilogy, I became a fan of Sly Cooper. I hope they would come back one day.

I wonder if we're some other universes gateway to see what the Lego Movie amounted to, somewhere it's troubled development never landed or they never considered adding Batman and it just fell short of getting a release. A lot of these I kind of just want more material or scenes to get an idea what the movie would have been. Shrek is good where it is and only got better with the internet, but I guess people would still be interested in a book accurate version or more restrained. And of course Disney has so many projects getting pitched it's no surprise they have a set up of projects that even get announced and then canceled or worked into something else, gimme more Kingdom of the Sun I don't care if Emperor's New Groove is solid as is.

The silver lining with Larrrkins getting cancelled is that the same team got a chance at redemption with an Aussie centric film with at Netflix with Back to the Outback

Another cancelled movie I think looked pretty interesting is the Legend of Tembo. It’s about an African elephant named Tembo who, as a calf, is taken from his home and shipped off to India and in order to get home joins the army as a war elephant. The movie was supposed to be directed by Aaron Blaine and Chuck Williams and was gonna be produced by a studio called Digital Domain, but they unfortunately went bankrupt in 2012. Fortunately, some of the people who worked on the film uploaded a bunch of the story boards to KZbin and other websites, basically showing most of the plot, give or take a few changes, and I honestly think it could’ve been a great movie.

A cancelled animated movie that deserves more recognition is "Bremen Musicians" from Cats And Dogs director Lawrence Guterman. It was a very loose adaptation of the namesake Grimm fairy tale, revolving around KISS of all bands getting sent back in time to the 18th century and accidentally possesing the bodies of a group of farm animals.

Larakins is something I would have been so attached to as a kid from having watched an ungodly amount of Crocodile Hunter and being into musicals only way for me to like it more would have been to throw a thylacine in there somewhere and that would have been a foundational part of my childhood

This is from a Lover Fan of the books, With huge Respect and Love for the books. You don't at all have to agree with my opinion, i just felt like i needed to say this. Awww, Yes Mouse Guard is Still Very Sad, i've seen Sooo many Artwork and Paintings Of this Beautiful Project. Although i do Still Really Wished it Was being done in Actually Animation. As however i wouldn't personally call this Mouse Guard an Animation movie, because it was going to be done in Motion Capture With using Real people With the Acting For the Mice Emotions. If it was "Real Animation" it would have been done With Really talented people Who Love and Respect Animation who design a Beautiful Digital model's of the Mice and then Animation and show their Emotions in Scenes in the movie. i also have a Huge problem With the whole i guess you can say, inspiration of the whole movie, being "Avatar With Mice" I'm Sorry but the Graphic novel's Never came even Close to that! I can get small things like the world building, sure that can be a little like avatar But The Whole Feel of the movie? No Absolutely Not! The Books don't resemble that at all! I'm Sorry but the more and more i know about what this movie was going to be the more Sad and Depressed i felt as i started to know that this was going be more Of a "Hollowood Movie" and not a "Artist kind of Movie." Which Really Sadness me Very much, i just don't feel like Mouse Guard Deserves this kind of treatment For a movie. Also The Character designs weren't honestly that good looking? in my opinion. While Sure maybe once they got All of the fur on the Mice done and rendered in might of looked aright. But from seeing some of those Designs myself, those Designs didn't even come Close to The Original Author Desings from in the books. His Designs were alot more closer to A Fantasy Mice designs in the books, while in this movie they had more of a what i would like to call a "World of Warcraft Mice designs." If you look at those designs then you'll understand where i am coming from on this. i also know that they made changes that the author wasn't too on bord with those changes in the storyline. Also they weren't even going to be Faithfull To The Character's Of Saxon and Kenzie's Brother Relationship! They were going to be completely different in the movie then in the Books. and i Love those Character's, Those Character's Mean Sooo much to me in Life. So i'm Really Sad that they changed their Relationship in the Movie and how they were going to be in the story. i Really Hope Oneday We will get a more Faithfull movie version Of Mouse Guard Oneday. as i just don't feel like this approach was going to be right for Mouse Guard. This is All from a Fan's Heart, Love, and Respect For the books, and i do Hope that Mouse Guard will Shine Oneday in Life.
