Well, if you look closely, Remi practicly starts from 0 to 100 without having to make himself a name to reach success, he just starts cooking at his dreamt restaurant without having to fight for it, like if you started making small animations at home, but then suddendly you work st Disney, and nah man, thats not how it works
@lifeisadrag77052 ай бұрын
@@gaothhermesk1289 That's literally not the point of the film...It isn't an underdog story in that context. Remi's struggle isn't learning how to cook and or being a good cook, his struggle was that he's a fricking rat and the world will treat him differently if he tried to be himself. He had to get over the hurdle of him being a rat in the world of cooking. That'd be like complaining that Mr. Incredible didn't work his way up when he returned to hero work when he was working under Syndrome and do side missions like catching robbers, you're missing the point of why Mr. incredible is doing his job in the first place, because he misses being a hero, and being himself, protecting the public.

@@lifeisadrag7705 hey I'm fact in that regard i do prefer The Increíbles way more, Is more realístic how even a well known hero as my incredible had to regain his strenght and go back to what he is good at, even if he already has that power, he still need the biold up. With Renny when you say the point Is that he Is a rat, well that's exactly an alegory of an underdog. Someone who the rest of people would never give a s*** or just ignore, kinda like Naruto (wich Is other underdog not well developed as well) He doesn't need to learm how to cook ofc. But Is a horrible message telling that "all you need Is your talent. The works will give you what you need" (just like Naruto) Talent isn't enough, you also have to start from the lowest spot. But if Remmy already has the chance to Cook at his dreamt restaurant. Is like you starting to practicar acting, having the ability, the next day you already had the chance to work for Hollywood. That doesn't have any sense. The story needed more build up to make the ride More believeable. Also Renny doesn't have notable flaws making him hard to root for. Mr Incredible wanted to be a superhero so bad, that he allmost rusk his life and his family. While Remmys only flaw, Is to exist...now i know why average millenials and behond like him that much.

@@Complexitor37 hehe Mate laughts at this. Ok i mean, he Is not the worst character, but clearly he behaves so obsessed with the idea of cooking and doesn't even has to train his abilities. Linguinni was the one i felt more sympathy for, with the idea of trying to fill shoes that were too big for him, like a real underdog.

Ok i can acknowledge having different opinions but putting UP (my favorite movie) below elemental is criminal UP is a movie to grow up to. If you watch it at a young age you only notice the jokes and slapstick but you register the themes. But when you watch it again as an adult you notice the themes soo much more and the jokes serve as more a break from the mountain of thematic storytelling. There are soo many themes in Up but you never notice every single one the first watch. In my opinion it is as close to a perfect movie ad you can get, there are still issues but they are so small. Elemental has less themes than Up but ironically there is too much. Where Up disguises its themes in visual storytelling and simple conversations, Elemental just explains everything and uses several tropes. You are basically told the themes rather than having to investigate and analyze the emotions in the scene. Furthermore the story of elemental is so very complicated with so many different splits in the path. Its like UP is one path that has curves in it and elemental is 5 paths that all go to the same place but have different dimensions you need to pass through.

In response to the section on Up. First it is of course your opinion and I'm not saying you are wrong, just discussing. ^-^ I revisited the movie for my film class last semester and ended up appreciating it more than I did when I was younger. I think I better understood the metaphors and it spoke to me. The house is like Carl's grief that's "tying him down" from doing the things he wants to do. I definitely agree that the movie has it's issues, I never found it particular memorable as a kid or now. But the themes and metaphors of the intro are present throughout the movie, and keeping it in mind and how it has affected Carl, its really a plus of the movie I don't see talked about as much.

Glad I was not the only one who despises Brave, in addition, it reinforced my view that the Oscars were rigged in favour of Pixar, ParaNorman and Wreck-it-Ralph were better candidates. What I dislike about Brave is Merida, she was Pixar's first _human_ princess, remember, Pixar's first princess was Princess Atta, an ant from A Bug's Life. Throughout the film, Merida goes on and on about her freedom, to which I would always ask - freedom from what? Freedom to do what? She's a princess, Merida has more freedom than the average medieval peasant, who were tied to the land and their landlord, it would make sense if we see Merida _actually_ being oppressed, something to motivate her to being liberated, rather than being a rebellious teen who happens to be a princess. This inadvertently makes Merida into a spoiled brat, who is trying to duck her responsibilities as a noble, just so she can lollygag in the wilderness, even though Merida would have to fight for survival in the wild, the law of nature doesn't care about human freedom. I would recommend Wolfwalkers instead of Brave, it feels more Celtic than Brave, perhaps because it was made by actual Irish filmmakers, the bear is more Anglo-Saxon than Celtic, but wolves are centre to Celtic folklore, moreover, Robyn does experience oppression, since the film is set during Puritan times, Mebh and her mother Moll have what it takes to live in the wilderness, because they can shapeshift into wolves, as a result, Wolfwalkers has more positive feminine empowerment than Brave, Mebh is funnier and more dynamic redhead than Merida, and Mebh was a feral child.
@sailormoon2623 ай бұрын
If you ever look at behind-the-scenes footage and other analysis videos, Merida was supposed to have more of a "break-the-chains" kind of story arc paired up with her mother, Eleanor. You can even kind of see this in the first act, where Merida is forced to do all these traditionally feminine things so she could be "marriagable," even though she finds it oppressive to her true nature of being a warrior and hunter. It was implied that there was going to be more of a bigger conflict between her and her mother, Merida realizing that Eleanor is no less a victim to the traditions that broke her own desires in life, and Eleanor realizing that she's only perpetuating the cycle of oppression upon her own daughter and doesn't want her to suffer as a result. I bet the third act would possibly culminated with the two of them working together to finally break away from traditional gender roles and help their kingdoms become more egalitarian and stronger as a result. ...but then the higher ups didn't want that, so they changed it to "lol mAmA bEaR"

Bro just because she's a princess doesn't mean she doesn't have feelings. You are blaming a 16 year old for not wanting to be in an arranged marriage, thats completely irrelevant to whether she's a princess or not. She also didn't ask to be a princess. At least the average peasant has some control over their future as they aren't expected to do anything. Im sick of people bringing up someone's privilege as a point to silence their problems. Merida would probably genuinely choose to be a poor hunter who gets to spend time in the forest rather than be carried through life. She's definitely capable enough. The whole point was her proving that you don't need to marry to keep allies. Just be allies. Its not hard.

I feel like Cars 2 could have been a good movie if it wasn’t a Cars franchise movie. If they made it a regular spy thriller with humans, I feel like it would have been a bigger hit. The premise in my opinion was pretty interesting but the Cars element took too much away from the plot-it was too contrived to make the mechanics of real life apply seamlessly to cars. I do have to say, most sequels get hated because they don’t do enough. However, Cars 2 did plenty, to the point of too much. I can’t fault the ambition. I still wish it was just a spy movie with humans.

On the one hand, Up THAT low is criminal. But on the other, WALL•E being top 3 is based af (even though I’d say it’s #1 but whatever) Ultimately, your opinions are your own and I genuinely respect the bold takes here, but MAN some of these… surprised me to say the least lol

5:50 Here is my regular reminder to those around me that Cars 2 is rated G for General Audience, or the lowest rating that can be given to a film in the US, also meaning that kids can watch this without a parent around. It is the same rating as movies and TV shows such as the Muppets, Sesame Street, Dora, Mickey Mouse, etc.

i feel alone in this opinion, but Monsters University is genuinely one of my favorite movies. like EVER, not just from Pixar. i freaking LOVE it and never get tired of rewatching
@js_musicmedia89813 ай бұрын
For me, the catch with Soul and the reason I like it better than similar movies like Inside Out and Coco, is that all the vignettes and places the characters go during the middle chunk of the movie are all to show 22 why life is worth living, and to challenge Joe’s mindset that life is only worth it if he becomes a successful musician. That’s why it’s a subtle but smart touch that, after his gig when he’s sitting at the piano, he replaces the music he’s looking at with the trinkets that 22 had collected in his body, and reflects on those little moments that made 22 realize how special life is. To each his own, of course, but I think the episodic style of the movie is profoundly intentional and puts it very high on my list, personally

I think the good dinosaur should have been about obscure extinct animals like simosuchus, psitacosaurus, caudipteryx and leptoceratops. The villain could be a tribe of homo naledi and an evil lambeosaurus queen who has charonosaurus henchmen.

I think cars 2 is terrible as a sequel to cars, but as a movie in general I laughed a lot and thought it was really fun. Yes it's completely skippable, you can go from cars to cars 3 and not have missed anything, but that doesn't make it a bad movie. And yes I understand that a lot of people don't like the idea of turning the comic relief into the MC for an entire detour of a movie, and maybe it shouldn't have been a sequel and maybe it should've been it's own thing. But if it was it's own thing and wasn't titled "cars 2" I don't think people would hate it as much as they do. Personally I really like mater and I thought his ignorance throughout the movie was really funny and endearing. To each their own.

I dont really get your ranking of the cars franchise, specifically cars 1 & 3. When you talked about the 1st cars you said the story was too slow, then next you said ratatouille was going too fast. Then when you get to ranking cars 3 you say its at the bottom of your "best of the best" but id argue this one is incredibly slow. You even call it a slowburn. With ratatouile, i think the think that most drags me away from it is that remi practicly climbs from 0 to 100 when he starts in a simple french lone house to the entire paris city, and just next to gusteaus restaurant, its like saying you wanna be an animator and you start in your house making little aniamtions but then, suddendly, you end up working at disney from one day to the other, withour the trip needed to climb in successes and fails wich would make remis plot more compelling
