Hot take - the shortcuts really make a track for me. Daisy cruiser, yoshi circuit, mushroom bridge always have a special place for me, because when you realise there's a whole different way to race the track, it makes you feel like you've cracked some sort of secret. Great list tho A+

I have fallen many times off that "boring" zig-zag stretch of Rainbow Road. For me, that's the most dangerous part of the track. Double Dash karts are tough to control, but for me, that's part of what makes this game more fun than the others.

Imo Bowser's Castle is the best in the game for me and is my favourite Bowser's castle. It does what n64 does and improves on it drastically and has since been used as a template for the Bowser's castles following it. Ds, Wii and 3ds had the Bowser head at the start, Wii had the mecha Bowser shooting fireballs and 3ds had a portion of gcns soundtrack. Gcn really deserves a remake it's long needed and should be the second last track in the booster course pass with Wii rainbow road being last

Mushroom City would be done justice in the Booster Pass. A GCN Mushroom track is datamined in tour and it has the wiggler bus, mushroom car, and bomb car which is awesome.

The best course is Baby Park, but only because of the Bowser Shell. Besides that Daisy Cruise is my favourite course, i really love the tropical atmosphere, and it was remade in MK7, and yes you can drive into the pool at the start.

Upon my replay of this game a few months ago, I discovered that the best way to go up that spiral in rainbow road is to not drift and just steer it’s much easier. (Also sherbet land supremacy)

Double dash was a concentration camp to play, but is one of the funnest and most charming. Luigi circuit - B - surprisingly good! Peach Beach - C - okayish Baby park - S - CANDY!!!!!!! Dry Dry Desert - MID F Mushroom Bridge - A - not the most complicated, but still fun. Mario circuit - B - charm Carries it! Daisy Cruiser - A - fun course, creative, and reasonably complicated. Waluigi Stadium - A - not the most complicated, but still fun. Sherbet land - D - some charm, but still a snow track. Mushroom city - S - although a remix of Toad’s turnpike layout, pure chaos and really fun with bomb cars and wiggler wagons. Yoshi Circuit - A - a complicated circuit track that is really charming! DK Mountain - S - super complicated and fun to race on! Wario Colosseum - A - alright but not as crazy as people make it out to be. Dino Dino Jungle - D - charm is cool, but it’s alright Bowsers castle - S - a great castle track and always causes crazies Rainbow road - S - really complicated, probably the hardest in the entire series, and really deserving for special cup.

Baby Park is cool when it's 1 of 48 tracks. When it's 1 of a mere 16... Eh... 32 tracks was the standard when I grew up on Wii and 7, and 16 just has never felt like enough to sink my teeth into. Having a course slot taken up by a small oval makes the content feel even lighter.

A good list! Personally I'd make a few changes but it is very solid. I hope to one day play Double Dash for myself, and experience the pain of Rainbow Road and the joy of Baby Park once more. I do wish that they bring either the double dash mechanic back or port the game entirely, because unfortunately the tracks they added in MK8DX are not the best representation of them in my opinion. Even though DS and Wii are my childhood Mario Karts, Double Dash is my favorite by far! I love strategy in my co-op games and i have already had aton of fun with friends just teaming up against CPUs in grand prix or each other in Vs and Bomb-Omb Blast!

If you do get it be patient with it because there is an adjustment period when learning the double dash physics. Once you get it down and play baby park with multiplayer and have Bowser shells flying everywhere it's a blast.

Credit it to Double Dash they managed to make a game that was not only exciting but had great gameplay and speed/reward shortcuts that were lacking in other games. I have to disagree with you on Sherbet Land; when I was trying to go for the cup where you have to race on all the tracks to get the 100% completion that one was the killer for me, as an ice/snow levels it's one of the better ones. Is there a chance you will cover battle maps too? I never played them on DD as I only had one controller and first played the game in 2014 or 15 so no-one would ever want to play it if I could. Each game has at least a few really solid tracks but this game especially most are solid.

Yeah, massive props to Double Dash, it still gets talked about fondly to this day for a reason! I I played the battle maps a bit w my siblings but not enough to give it the same level of analysis as the racetracks - i just remember really liking Pipe Plaza and thats about it!

Double Dash is the first game I have memories of playing (I was 4 I think?) so naturally I have tons of nostalgia for it. I remember loving Sherbert Land because the music reminded me of Christmas, and raging because of the bridge in DK Mountain. Also gotta give it up for being the only Mario Kart game to let you play as the GOAT, Petey Piranha.

Baby Park is the epitome of a basic track, yet it still maintains so much chaos at the same time. I'd say design wise it's extremely barebones, literally anybody could come up with the track. However, in Mario kart where items are absolutely rampant, it brings so much chaos because everything is in such an enclosed area. I'd say because of that, it's actually a fantastic track. It just depends based on what you want in a track as to whether or not you like it of course, but nobody will all like the same track regardless of the track anyways. People have different tastes. For those that just want a simple track that takes a bunch of drifting to win though, it's a top tier track for sure.

While I agree, MK double dash has more charm and chaos that has yet to be recreated in any Mario kart game, and that's what Mario kart should be. Mario kart Wii is more mechanically sound with more to choose from but is not nearly as wacky.

I played double dash once at a friends house, I kinda liked it but woukd need to paly more to get a feel for the controls and courses. I like the double racers and special items, i hope that comes back as an option to play in mk 9. Ive only played baby park on 8 deluxe, and i despise it, it is imo the worst course ever made. I understand it was desinged to be chaotic with the special items, but theres so much going on in a small area that its basically luck as to whether or not you get first. I hate when games rely too much on luck, and thats exactly what baby park does. The theming isnt bad but the track is a tiny oval, it wouldve been better to actuslly be like a baby park and maybe have baby mario and luigi etc be hazards, but they went with a tiny oval. Plus the 7 laps instead of three make the track even worse than it already is, mainly because it means i have to suffer through this track more. So thats why i think baby park is the worst mario kart track ever made.
