2007: B tier. Showed promise, especially in China but made a silly error in Japan 2008: S tier. Beat Red Bulls on merit in a Toro Rosso and dominated the race in Monza. Enough said. 2009: A tier. Pretty strong season. Could have won the title if more things went his way. 2010: A tier. Yes he won his first championship, but he made two pretty bad collisions in Spa and Turkey and also got a puncture in Silverstone. Still has maturing to do. 2011: S tier. Destroyed Webber. Has an insanely dominant season extracting the most from the RB7. Only massive mistake was in Canada when he list to Button on the last lap. 2012: S tier. Put in some amazing performances in Spa and Abu Dhabi, and a gritty final drive in Brazil. Got the most out of a difficult RB8. Only mistakes were the cucumber moment, passing Jenson off the circuit and forcing Alonso off in Monza. 2013: S+ tier. I just has to separate this one from the others because it was an absolute masterclass. The 9 wins in a row were just as impressive as Max's 10 in a row because Grosjean challenged him pretty hard in some of the races. Also had a sizeable lead in the championship when the pecking order was still pretty close which goes under the radar. 2014: C tier. Very average season. Didn't get murdered by Ricciardo like some people make out, but he should have beat him at least. 2015: S tier. Amazing comeback season with Ferrari. Challenged Mr. Equal Machinery for the runners up spot in an inferior Ferrari. Magic win in Sepang and dominant drive in Singapore. 2016: C tier. Pretty underwhelming season. Outqualified by Kimi and had a few scrappy moments with the Red Bull drivers. Could have taken wins in Australia and Canada but didn't. 2017: A tier. A great season let down by his rage moment in Azerbaijan and the Ferrari just losing all reliability after Singapore. He probably could have even won the title without these moments, but 2015 was better in my opinion. 2018: B tier. First half of the season was great, almost S tier. Made the most out of the fastest car on the grid. But after Germany, he kept making lots of mistakes which cost him the championship. 2017 was on Ferrari, 2018 was on Seb. 2019: B tier. People say he was robbed in Canada but he still could've avoided the mistake. Kept making the silly mistakes he did at the back half of 2018. But Singapore was a great drive which saves it from being C tier. 2020: D tier. Worst season for Seb. This time he really was murdered by Leclerc. We should still remember his last podium for Ferrari in Tuekey though. 2021: A tier. A strong rebound after a dismal 2020. Almost won in Hungary. Got a brilliant podium in Azerbaijan as well. Stopped making the silly mistakes as well. 2022: A tier. Great way to end off his career with some solid performances in the Aston, especially in USA and Japan.

His 2020 season was probably one of if not the best non championship winning seasons by any driver. Finished on the podium every race he finished except turkey. He were the only guy to even closely match the merc’s on pace and didn’t make any notable mistakes.

but 2022 was the closest perez has ever been to him. also finished outside the top 5 more times than perez did. and perez is considered a pretty average driver, but his gap to max was still 2-3 tenths for the entirety of the year. 2022 should be ranked somewhere around 5th place imo. 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024 are all better imo. doesnt mean it wouldnt be an s tier season for others, but hes just had so many insane seasons its difficult to rank them properly.

In 2022, Verstappen had a 68% win rate (higher than Hamilton in 2020) in what was generally the second quickest car until the reg change at Spa. How it's not been ranked in the S tier is beyond me.

Saudi, Spain, Monaco, France, Hungary were all races that should’ve gone Ferrari’s way but for whatever reason did not, which comes to 9/13.

Off the mark a bit with 2017 - he was excellent, and comfortably bear DR that year, he just had bad reliability and luck. I'd swap 2017 with 2018, as he lost 2x wins at the start of 2018 with poor driving, and a couple of podiums too. 2021 is B at best - he was excellent in pace compared to Perez, but was extremely dirty all season long

I'm not a Max fan by any metric, and whilst I agree that 2022 and in particular 2023 were fantastic years for Verstappen, I can't really overlook the sheer amount of records he broke, I never *really* thought "Holy shit he's actually in that GOAT driver category," like I am now watching the 2024 season. With 2023 I always felt like it was more down to the other teams fucking up their seasons rather than Verstappen being *that* good, even though I now think he is *that* good. Mercedes stubbornly stuck with 2022 concept which didn't work and then completely changed their car at Monaco, Ferrari built a quali car that eat its tyres during the race and Mclaren weren't even a factor for half of 2023, and I will probably always put an asterisk against Max's 2023 campaign for those reasons. If 2024 continues the way it is and Max still wins the WDC, which he most likely will, I'd say it's been his best season to date, because at least in 2021 he had a teammate helping him. He's currently soloing the WDC and WCC against 3 other full teams records be damned.

he doesnt crack under pressure at all. he just becomes overly aggressive, and starts to overpush to try and get something more out of the car, when the car has nothing left in it. which causes him to make mistakes. most recent one: austria 24 (could have started a championship fight), monaco 24 (the car wasnt good enough, and he overpushed it, ending up in a lower position than he shouldve), jeddah 21 (he was in an insanely high pressure situation), and all the other times hes taken hamilton off track. there are a lot of examples from earlier in his career too. but i have nothing to criticise for the first half of 22 and the entirety of 2021 except jeddah, when he was in championship fights but didnt crack. obviously, we dont know what could have happened if ferrari continued the way they started in 22 though.
