Fan since 1987, Blows my mind on how people think that their WORST 3 albums are Good I don't even have to mention them by Name, But in my research online & Talking to people / younger Fans most of them agree that their first 5 are their Best. My Favorite Album by them is And Justice & I bought it when it came out. Did a Review for it also & recently Seasons.

I love Load. Reload is hit and miss. Fuel, low man's lyric, fixxxer and carpe diem baby are great songs.

Great tier list, I agree with almost everything, specially putting Load and Reload up there! After years of listening to thrash Metallica, nowadays Load and Reload are the ones I listen to the most. Bleeding me is one of the best songs Metallica's ever recorded.

One of my favorite songs is from Death Magnetic. All Nightmare Long. I would bump both “Meh” albums up to at least good but I pretty much agree with everything else. Where would you rank Beyond Magnetic?

Not gonna lie I’ve grown to love Death Magnetic it’s definitely a masterpiece for me, and I thought I was the only one that thought Load was dark, like The House Jack Built is one of their darkest songs and no one realizes it.

I would swap Death Magnetic with Hardwired and St. Anger with Reload, and slide Load down to Good. But yeah, my list would be pretty similar with Puppets in Personal Favorite.

I googled the Load cover pic as I'd never really thought about what it was, as I'm only a casual Metallica listener. Interesting. It's the same photographer that made the 'Piss Christ' pic which caused a stir a few years back.

Death Magnetic is special to me it was the first Metallica album I ever purchased and then had me listen to their older albums. So I would put it in the Good category. Hardwired is superior for me.

This is an excellent tier list imo! Shows you're a real fan to see each album objectively for what they are and not crap on them for being different. Load/reload/garage/sm/st anger are all great for what they are despite being from the same guys that gave us justice and puppets heh 😄🤘 I agree with death magnetic being meh, i think the production and writing style was all over the place and they didnt find their groove post bob rock until greg fidleman took over and made every album since not sound off putting lol ^^

Cliff was huge fan of classical music and it definitely shows RTL and MOP. He influenced the band with a progressive sound that stuck around after his passing in AJFA. Hardwired is heavy but still think AJFA is not only their heaviest work but also their most technical and thrashiest album. Side note their hard rock era is over-hated and Jason’s backing vocals were legendary regardless of what genre they were doing. Who knows maybe he could’ve save St Anger lol

Load and Reload being superior is very questionable to say the least. I also just can’t get anything but meh from St. Anger. Their only terrible album is their album with Lou Reed.

I'm old school. I started listening to Metallica when Ride the Lightning was released. That being said anything after the Black Album is utter garbage to me. I like that you differentiate between their thrash sound and their hard rock sound. I love your content and would love to talk metal with you. That'd be so awesome!

Awesome: Master of Puppets, ...And Justice for All, Ride the Lightning (no skips) Great: Kill 'em All, Reload, The Black Album (some filler like Anesthesia, Memory Remains, Through the Never, God That Failed, Don't Tread on Me) Good: Death Magnetic, Load (A bit self-indulgent, they drag, Load's second half is full of filler) Meh: Hardwired (forgettable, drags, I don't care for half of the songs) Abysmal: St. Anger (All Within My Hands might be the worst song I've ever heard)

The first three albums are ultimate Metallica..great albums..death magnetic, justice and hard wired. Good albums ..Black, Garage days e.p. Garage inc, S&M 1&2..and finally, I own, but mostly because I want to have the collection complete ..St Anger, Load, and Reload. The last 3 grew on me, but the first time I heard Load, a friend bought it and let me borrow it..I listened to it once, returned it to him a few hours later...told him after one listen, they forgot the rest of the title on the album...it should be called Load of S**t. I like some songs on those 2 albums, but I honestly think if I would pick out the songs I like from both albums, I would have one album I would categorize as pretty good and the other under the category of wtf are they doing? St.Anger I like better than the Load/reload duo.

I haven't heard 72 seasons enough to rate it proper, but so far, i like it a lot..probably will fall under the category of great albums..Lulu, I put in between St. Anger and Load/reload. It's an interesting experiment with a Rock Icon.

I was there Metallica wasn’t popular before black album. Guns and roses and poison was the biggest things in metal around the late 80s and 1990. Kill ‘em all isn’t one of the first thrash albums. Venom did welcome to hell, sodom and HellHammer was all releasing EPs in 1981. Load and reload were garbage. I was a teenager when load came out and the entire metal community went off and called them sellouts. In some kind of monster Lars said we can use anything and turn into songs we proved that with load. Metallica came back from like 6 years of not releasing albums and came out with St.Anger and it was bad. I remember Dave mustaine laughing at them in interviews and it was the first time in a long time radio stations wouldn’t play the new Metallica songs

@@caitycore I remember getting Load on the day of release and I actually fell asleep listening to it. I was like this isn't Metallica. They should have released Load/ReLoad as a different moniker than Metallica... Called themselves the Dirty Cowboys or whatever, but calling Load/ReLoad a Metallica album really fucked them up in the relationship to their fans. These same guys who used to say, "Fuck posers" and throw darts at the singer from Winger cut their hair and started wearing make-up and nail polish. Playing lame-ass rock music that Lynyrd Skynyrd did much better. Let's blame Bob Rock and cocaine.

Load and Reload as Superior? They each have about 5 good songs and then fillers. These albums were an overreaction to grunge
