A lot of people missed this. Bojji isn't a little kid. He was a kid when hilling came. After that she gave birth and now daida could be at least 12-16. Let's just say he was 5 when hilling came. It would make bojji around 17-21. His little body is the result of his curse.

I was hooked the moment bojji went back to the castle and the queen told him he wasn’t fit to be king and that he should just stay in the castle so he doesn’t cause problems and he goes into his room and just cries when no one was around idk why but I related to that one moment because I’m sure a lot of us put on a facade like nothing bugs us but when we’re alone it all hits and I think that moment captured that perfectly. I also really love how kage isn’t afraid to stand up for bojji no matter who they are up against even tho bojji doesn’t need protecting.

@loregoblin38542 жыл бұрын
I really agree with this... Ranking of Kings has very strong themes of loyalty and legacy. I love how it's all implemented, and how those themes can be used to look each character individually, but also to link them up with the rest of the cast in certain thematic through lines. the theme of legacy asks: what are certain characters trying to give to the people they love? what do certain characters actually inherit? and the theme of loyalty asks: who is worthy of loyalty? why are they worthy of it? where does loyalty end... when must a person take back ownership of their decisions? the second OP is so good to use as a framework for both of these things

One thing I loved about Ranking of Kings was that all the characters are human. They aren't necessarily all good or all bad, quite a few of them are extremely selfish, but they still endearing. People I started out disliking, became highly liked characters, one of the characters I liked in the first episode, I spent most of the rest of the series wishing ill things upon and laughing at their pain. Some of even the most minor characters are interesting. When characters motivations could put them in conflict with each other, it added tension because I understand why they are in opposition, but I wish there was a way that they didn't have to be. I don't want bad things to happen to either and sometimes all of them have valid reasons for doing what they are doing. Also, characters and their traits in this are static and changable. Characters change by interacting, they grow because they are looking and understanding each other, they are listening to each other, their perceptions of each other evolve and so the way they interact evolves with it. I love Bojji and Kage's relationship, they deserve to have found each other, they are so refreshing and wholesome in how they support and uplift each other. They are each other's greatest fans and I live for it. The second opening of the anime is amazing and I love everything about it. One of my few criticisms is that there wasn't enough screentime for Mitsumata or Poise, but that might change in the future so I hold out hope. Edit: Also, did someone say show don't tell, because jeez do they do a lot without exposition. I love it.

@RockaByeYT2 жыл бұрын
RANKING OF KINGS does not aim at perfection. But shows real, relatable experiences in life, which makes every single character in ROK's Universe...META. And that's something you don't see be done by most typical modern anime. It doesn't give you the rewards you want for the main character, not outright (usually in "surprise twist" fashion) and yet it gradually improves Him, RANKING every step of the way. He went from ignored and misunderstood, to finally being understood and heard, at the same time helping and changing the people around Him. Shrouding other details with the right amount of mystery to look forward to, in order for you to focus at it's current predicament. So yeah, it is not perfect and it never will be because it is being (Like you said) progressive, and I hope it still pushes on further with Season 2.

I loved this series like you couldn't imagine for the first cour, but the pacing in the second cour, especially with Ouken and the last few episodes soured me. In my opinion, Bosse's motivations are not explored deeply enough to account for his priorities shifting from Miranjo to Bojji and back to Miranjo. Additionally while I'd initially said that Miranjo's past suffering wasn't exploitative, I found myself eating those words as the show kept laying on her sad backstory or rather, repeating it back to us. We saw it once with Daida and again with Bosse, then yet again with Despa, and once again with Bosse. Over and over. It became far too heavy-handed. Miranjo losing her mother and being disfigured is all I needed to understand how she became to be villainous, and I only need to see it once to get the idea. It got to be too much for me, when we see Despa and Bojji in between life and death and Bojji has already made up his mind to not kill Miranjo. Despa flatout asks him what he'll do, yet he still feels the need to show Bojji her memories. One could argue that he wanted Bojji to see her memories to impress upon him the self-perpetuating nature of suffering, but Bojji is already very empathetic. That mind meld was just unnecessary and felt like tear-bait. Take this as literary criticism in the dictionary sense. I by no means dislike the show and consider it far above-average in too many aspects to list, but when something I enjoy this much has issues, I can't wave them off or play the apologist. I reserve this length of thought for media I either deeply appreciate or despise. Were this show mediocre, I'd not be wasting my time writing this out.

Personally i loved the anime.. Absolutely loved it. So i went to look up the manga because i was so into the character designs. I was extremely off put by the art. At least in thr beginning chapters, i dont know if thr artist grew later on by a technical side by alot of the way it was designed just was wrong. It doesnt come off as refined, alot of technical stuff is just wrong such as perspective and things..architecture was done badly. It doesnt come off as some artists who ars technically fine but design something purposely ugly. It just looks fundamentally wrong(same issue i have with mob psychos artist) .. But i absolutely love the story. I love the characters and world it created. Its more or less my own personal conflict as an artist who studies mangas to figure out best approaches and it just reinforced the idea of a "fuck it" attitude for me. Who cares if its ugly as long as you can find a way to connect to your fans you've done your job as a writer.
