From Rocket To Russia to Acid Eaters, they all charted really well here in Finland (with a couple of exceptions, like Subterranean Jungle & Pleasant Dreams, which did not chart). I gotta say, I never really even gave a chance to the post Road To Ruin albums, I think that End Of The Century's production was too much of a change when I was a teenager, I remember kinda scratching my head listening to that album.

I'm just gonna rate my top 4... because they're the ones I was obsessed with... 1. Leave home 2. The Ramones 3. Rocket to Russia 4. Road to ruin After Tommy left I stopped following like I did in the first 2 years ...'76 - '78...I still liked them.. but not like I did during those years...saw them at the Whiskey in February '77 while Tommy was still drumming... Blondie opened up...Dee Dee looked pissed because the crowd was mainly sitting down...it was a weird scene but great gig...I remember a really chubby girl had a home made "Dee Dee" t shirt on she had made ! My older brother took me because I couldn't drive yet...he was into Yes ELP and Jethro Tull...but he seemed to like it ! 😀

Great list! My 14, 13, 10, 7, 4 and 2nd picks are the same as yours. I got: 14. Acid Eaters 13. Brain Drain 12. Mondo Bizarro (this is really the only one i strongly disagree with in your ranking. Of course, I like to love every Ramones album, but like every Ramones fan, we all got our favs). 11. Animal Boy (this can jump to 10 sometimes depending on the day for me. It's the overall production that really ruins it for me) 10. Halfway to Sanity 9. End of the Century 8. Adios Amigos 7. Too Tough to Die 6. Subterranean Jungle (I love this record. Only real beef with it is the bad snare sound, and maybe would've chosen another original from the demo session in place of "I Need Your Love") 5. Pleasant Dreams. 4. Road to Ruin (best production of all their albums. Loses a bit of points for me due to some wrong choices in song sequence. "Don't Come Close", "I Don't Want You" and "Needles and Pins" really drags the album's pace down to me. But not a major irk. Still great record. I would've started the record with "Sedated" though, and maybe chose "Slug" and "Come Back She Cried" in place of "Don't Come Close" and "Needles and Pins") 3. S/T 2. Rocket to Russia 1. Leave Home (the original with "Carbona" is my fav album of all time.... first three are pretty interchangable though).

Growing up in NYC/Long Island in early 80s, two bands played in clubs reliably almost all the time: Ramones and Twisted Sister. Even though they were from there, TS were hated by so many on L.I. and called Twisted Sh*tface by the punk-leaning kids, who thought they were rock's most ridiculous L.I. joke, right after Billy Joel. It was interesting to witness the clash of rock cultures at the same time in the same place. The only things they had in common were love for Motorhead and a hatred of disco.

My top 5 would be: 5. End of The Century 4. Rocket To Russia 3. Leave Home 2. Road To Ruin 1. Ramones However, if Live-albums could be included, I'd put "It's Alive!" (1979) all the way up there at #1!

I think Mondo Bizzaro gets hated on unfairly. It’s a really good album but Rocket to Russia will always be #1 for me

No, I agree with you. Originally Joey was the drummer and Dee Dee was the singer. Tommy started on guitar. Dee Dee couldn’t sing lead too well while playing bass, so Joey became the singer and Tommy moved to drums. On the other hand, Marky was only a teenager when his proto-metal band, Dust, recorded two albums in the early 1970s. So Marky was always a drummer and Tommy sort of fell into it. Of course, touring and band squabbles eventually became too much for Tommy and he left the band to become a record producer. I would concur with your assessment.

No, listen to Marky's (Marc Bell) drum on "Suicide" with his previous band, Dust. Very innovative for 1971.

I didn't know that they had done so many albums. I've only heard the radio tunes, and by that metric they didn't impress me. I know they are the band widely credited as the band to start Punk.
