Thank you for the music, have played the Beat music on my Sax 🎷 since the 80s I was in a ska band in the 80s and played live at Brixton in 85 mirror in the bathroom was a firm favourite. R I P Ranking Roger

Very ❤️ breaking I mourn and I grieve with everyone who so ever loved and adored Roger who could've ever forgotten his amazing voice/vocals just one incredible gifted singer/songwriter I just loved so much when he sang tenderness it makes me emotional just one of the prettiest songs ever written I am just finding out this amazing man has passed on always wondering what had happened so devastated when I read the news about his death. love my English brothers and my sisters in the UK and all around the world RIP Roger ❤️

I met Roger in the Oasis market in Birmingham 1989, absolute wonderful man. My brother Francis passed in 2014 and was one of his biggest fans and also his friend. I would like to think they are both up there in heaven together partying 😭😭😭😭

Rest in Peace Roger you made a huge impact in my life, my nieces now love The Beat too and meeting you in Glasgow 2017 was one of the most fantastic times in my life and we just talked about all things Beat ! Such a sad loss, what a fantastic showman, always in tip top form when I saw him (a few times) in recent years in Cork. I grew up (11 in 1979) in Pompey, to the sounds of 2Tone and all that it brought forth. It's the music that spoke to someone many youths, something positive in such negative times. I met Roger several times with my great friend Yad. He was such an amazing human being and musical super star. He was generous to a fault and his love of music and all people regardless of race, will live with me forever. May his spirit live on and continue the harmony he wanted through his music. RIP Roger Ranking grew up listening and loving the sounds of two tone so lucky to have seen you several times and meet with you at the Reepham Festival 2 years ago. Je l'avais déjà écrit à Dave et Roger, les trois naissances de mes enfants ont été bercées par les chants de "Doors of your heart" sur le ventre de ma femme. Ce titre est devenu "Pom pom" pour eux et ils savent l'importance que j'accorde à ce titre où Roger utilise merveilleusement son talent. Roger will be greatly missed. He was a lovely guy. Alway had time for a chat and a drink. On 2 occasions he spotted me and the missus in the crowd during gigs and threw his beat t shirt to us. Still got them now. Always had a chat and a laugh. Was just a great guy. Thanks for the music mate and the good times. RIP

Roger, you & all the band but Saxa stopped for ice cream in my village on the way back to Brum at then of a tour in 81. I was walking home from school, only a couple of years younger & recognised you all instantly of course. We bought ice cream (you guts paid) & made Martians out of them like he Smash potato adverts popular at the time. Cadbury Flakes for antenna & Smarties go eyes & mouths. When we met though, the guys said "ello" & "alight", by way of greeting but not you.. you shook my hand.... just like that. A gentleman from start to finish & that says it all. For 40 years you filled homes, heads & hearts with your endless energy & excitement. This is what made The Beat different from all the other 2-Tone/ska bands of the day. It captured me then, it captures me now & it pained me to hear of your struggles over the last year. Life can be so unfair. Your music, soul & spirit live on both in the music you let us, but in the example you showed every day, as well as your kids who carry the flag forwards. Rest well. Love & Unity x
