Hey guys, I'm back with another video!! So, in todays video we are ranking every character that appeared in Season 1 of Stranger Things. I asked you guys on the community page whether you'd like to see rankings for every season or one after we finish all seasons, and most of you said every season (which I was hoping for lol). My favourite thing about Nancy (particularly in season one and two) is that they don't take away her femininity while also letting her be badass and save the men she's stuck in a love triangle with. It's nice to see a female character who has agency and power and strength while not making her the "not like other girls" character.

I definitely agree with you about the whole camera situation. Personally, I think Steve was justified in breaking it, considering Jonathan was taking pictures of him and his friends at HIS house, like that's gotta make you feel a little unsafe. However, I also think the whole movie theatre thing was messed up and Jonathan was completely justified in beating his face in for those comments and actions. So I feel like the camera thing is nice and like a nice apology, because at least in my mind, he wasn't wrong in breaking it in the first place.

I honestly dont think him breaking the camera was justified. Yes what jonathan did was not alright and he should be held acoutable for that, but destroying his property (especially since his family doesnt have that much money to being with) is quit shitty of steve too. He had every right to be upset and i understand it was a heat-of-the-moment reaction, but it was okay. Ripping the photos im onboard with but smashing a camera that likely cost a lot of money? That doesnt really make steve a better person than jonathan (imo)

@@legacy5526 i mean , johnathon took pictures of them taking their clothes off and in the pool , and was spying on them for a decent amount of time , the pictures confirmed it, thats very creepy and sure johns not a bad guy but you never know when it comes to a massive invasion of privacy, him breaking the camera was definitely warranted cause thats just a weird thing to do to other people😭

Buying a new camera to Jonathan was the bare minimum! People being angry at Jonathan for the pictures is justified. But it just shows everyone’s privilege to think that breaking something that Jonathan clearly didn’t have easy access to and that was important to him was ok.That was just cruel. Scolding him and destroying the pictures were the only justifiable things Steve could do.

@@marcellaboehler9543 An apology was the bare minimum. As far as they know, this was a regular thing and not a dumb mistake. Destroying the pictures helps Nancy, KIND OF, but what if he did it again? Not that Jonathan ever would, but THEY don't know that. Breaking the camera wasn't RIGHT, especially since he knew that Jonathan wouldn't be able to afford another one, but it was completely justified given the situation imo. None of them knew Jonathan at that point, just the warped idea of him. How was anyone to know that scolding would do the trick? And for all anyone knew, he WAS stalking them. I feel bad for Jonathan in that scene cuz I know he made a dumb mistake that he regrets, as the viewer, but if I were in Steve OR Nancy's position, I would've broken the camera too.

Same, to me Lucas was pragmatic and was asking all the right questions. I get that viewers sympathize with El since they have all her backstory but without it and everything else going on it made sense for someone like Lucas who is fiercely loyal and protective of his friends to be distrustful of her

This is all very fair, as usual. Eleven is absolutely number one. I do think that little Will Byers deserves icon. That kid straight up saw a monster and handled that situation by himself. He ran, he called 911, he got a gun, he made it in the Upside Down being stalked as prey, and he figured out how to contact his mom. Everything he did was so metal. True, we did not see him much. He's a survivor, though, for real.

My rankings for this season would be very similar. I personally would put Joyce in the #1 position and Elle in #2, but otherwise, pretty much 100% the same. The list changes a lot over the seasons, but Joyce always remains #1 for me.

i honestly didn't dislike steve in season 1 like so many did. BUT i would still agree with his placement here. Honestly the only things I might change would be give lucas the spot mrs wheeler has and put her in the needs help category instead and then swap Nancy and Barb. I loved Barb and I am not going to lie, sorta hated Nancy... she's grown on me a bit but I still don't love her. I find her personality very boring and just very generic. She's just the basic, wants to be a journalist sweet & innocent with a bit of badass that Lois Lane and SO MANY other female leads get given. I've seen this character too many times. There's nothing quirky, interesting or unique about her. I think in real life I would love her and get along with her okay but as for her being a character in a show to watch for entertainment, she's boring. I found Steve AND Jonathon to be more interesting than her. Jonathan is a weird loner type BUT is shown to be one of the most genuinely sweet and gentle people in the scenes with his brother, that is where his character shines. Steve just has multi layers to his personality the way real people do, even though he wasn't a focus. Barb in the short time we see her felt to have more of an actual personality than Nancy. In my opinion.

I don't remember shipping Nancy and Steve when I first watched the series..But I know Jonathan and Nancy didn't quite do it for me with how their relationship was established in season 2 and in season 3 I really didn't gaf about them, their constant arguing just got on my nerves and at some points I just wanted the narrative to switch to another group. Season 4 however made me consider Steve and Nancy and upon rewatching the entire series, they make sense to me and I do ship them. Love how the series can make you change your opinion with just one season lol

@@mochi_tae9020 yess that is one of my biggest problems with the ship. That was brought up or at least focused on so often that I felt like that was everything the ship had to offer and while I DO love me some of the "shared trauma" trope, it shouldn't be the foundation to a relationship - realistically speaking. Season 3 was the first season where Will wasn't in danger and Nancy and Jonathan were investigating for the most part..so that "trauma" just wasn't a topic at all anymore, instead it was their joblife and how they have different priorities. It's natural for couples to face disagreements but with the previous focus on their shared trauma it was just jarring to see because we barely saw any positive sides. Well, with all that said..I wouldn't really care if they stay together though. It's just a bummer for Jonathan's writing because his only involvement in the plot happens through Nancy and he often gets overshadowed by her - which I think is sad. I do wish the Duffer Brothers would give him more meaningful interactions with other characters. Same could be said about Nancy..While she is a badass in every season, I definitely enjoy her the most in season 4 because for the first time she isn't paired with Jonathan. Instead, she finally got the chance to interact with more people and it was honestly soo refreshing. No idea how even the biggest Jancy shipper can miss the Jonathan and Nancy team up there..

Hopper did give up Eleven and I completely understand why. Hopper is the chief of Hawkins police, his duty is to protect the people of Hawkins. El isn't a Hawkins citizen. And Will had a family and friends who missed him. El only had Mike and he'd only known her a few days. He gave up Els freedom and happiness to save Wills live. He knew Brenner wouldn't kill el. But he also knew Will would've dies if they weren't able to get to him in time

The only one I personally would have changed is Johnathan. I would’ve put him in the top tier. You can tell he very much loves his mother and his brother and would die for either one of them. If it hadn’t been for him I think the outcome would’ve been much different.

I think hopper just wasn’t sure how to feel about 11, like not sure if she could be trusted but maybe by the time he’s giving her food he’s realised that she’s just a traumatised kid and he obviously doesn’t want her to starve or freeze to death so he’s looking out for her to try see if he can help, plus the bad men are gone so they can’t use her as a weapon anymore or whatever (obviously Ik what actually happens but that’s what little 14 year old me though when I first watched it back in 2016)

It’s actually kinda insane how popular the show got tho, like I remember watching it right when it came out and I was obsessed! I showed it to everyone, it obviously got really popular not long after release but when I first watched it, it hadn’t quite blown up yet, it was just exactly my kind of show, 80s, coming of age style like preteens/teenagers, a nerdy friend group, government conspiracies (was obsessed with that shit as a kid, still am, so good) psychic abilities (very Stephan king, I was also really hyped for the IT remake that was coming out the next year, both of which star Finn wolfhard) mystery but like in a fun way but also super dark in some aspects & just overall like the perfect kind of show that I’d enjoy, especially back when it came out. So glad everyone seemed to agree cause they literally didn’t even think they’d get the green light for a season 2 (which is my least favourite season but I still enjoyed it, had great concepts just poorly executed imo)

Barb had alot of stans when the season came out. Steve im just ok with even now, he was supposed to die season 1, but they liked the actor and rewrote him. In real life 11 and Will are super best friends, when you get caught up you should watched their interviews lol.

I completely agree with this list. the only thing I would change is that Holly would be in ICON because I've always gotten the vibe that she knows what's up, even without saying a damned word. that little actress just has the best facial expressions and she's freaking adorable as well. other than that, our lists are pretty much identical. oh and Mr. Clark is also an ICON because he just is. ❤️

I think the little girl wasn't afraid of the thing coming out the wall because she hasn't really grasped the idea of monsters and horror and such she's young enough to not be scared of everything but old enough to not have any complex thoughts such as monsters that come out of walls and how flickering lights is a bad thing
