Assists is more likely to never be broken. Especially since it's the only stat that is dependent on 2 players. Plus the closest active player (Chris paul) is about 4500 roughly behind Stockton and he's in 3rd place

Great video. The Stockton record in insane. Kind of underrated, think about it. 1 assist contributes to at least 2 points scored for your team.

Pretty easy when you miss 25 games a year and disappear with no effort for huge stretches of time.

Imagine you play 15 seasons in the NBA with 80 games played per season (1200 games - would make you Top 50 all-time right now), average 10 rebounds per game (which is Top 15 in each of the last 10 seasons and probably even further back) AND STILL ONLY HAVE ABOUT HALF of Wilt's total rebounds. You would need to be in the Top 15 for rebounds every season for 30 years. Patrick Ewing (P26 all-time in REB) and Dennis Rodman (P24 all-time in REB) COMBINED have less REB than Wilt. So it basically takes TWO Top-25 all-time rebounding careers to surpass the record. Will never happen.

Ok, so hear me out. As of today, Feb 14 2023, Buddy Hield has played 527 games across 9 seasons, if all other players stopped shooting, he'd need another 534 games and the same shooting rate (3,11 3s a game) to get to the no. 1 spot. His biggest problem is the fact that other active players' numbers will increase but I'm trying to say he's a bit of a sleeper and may end up pretty high on the list if he stays healthy and shooting well. He may be mostly competing against Harden and Lillard.

Stockton's 15.000+ is hard to break, especially w the evolved role of the PG Position.

An active player is DEFINITELY going to break Steph's record. Who, you ask? Buddy Hield. Why? Well as of today he already has 1,641 career three pointers. This season he is averaging 3.8 per game, so if he keeps at this pace for the rest of the season, he will have 1,728 threes. After that, let's say he averages 3.5 threes a game for the foreseeable future. Add that to the fact that he almost NEVER misses games (he's only missed 4 in 7 seasons), and he'd pass 4410 threes 10 seasons from now (3.5 × 80 × 10 = 2,800 + 1728 = 4528). And yes, I do think Hield will play until he's in his 40s.

Buddy Hield is also already 30 years ago. Anything can happen when a player reaches his mid-30s. 39-40 yes. But passed 41, doubtful. Buddy will be up there, but doubt he passes Curry

The All time leader in points can be broken by a pure scorer. He must average 30 for 82 games in 16 seasons, accumulating 39,360 total points. That is a hard task and all but theoretically possible. The most unbreakable record would be Lebron's total points generated. That is points and assists x2 combined. Nobody would beat that
@aridddle
@aridddle Жыл бұрын
Still say assist will stand the test of time. Chris Paul is the closest active player and he's still off by maybe 4500 or more. Plus it requires two players(one to pass and one to hit the shot within no more than 1 dribble) which makes it much harder to get per night than an individual stat like points, rebounds, or even steals.
