@@awsomeman350 Close, but not quite what I'm trying to say. When I first saw CASINO ROYALE in the theater, I leaned over to my brother and whispered, "This is a *real movie!*", and he immediately knew what I meant. It took itself seriously. It was written and directed like an actual film for grown-ups. James Bond was a human being. It was just a great film, regardless of its being a Bond movie. The first James Bond movie I ever saw in a theater was OCTOPUSSY, so Roger Moore is my OG Bond and always will be. Those were big, bombastic, silly, borderline screwball films that had their own vibe. Nothing hit like a James Bond movie in the 70s and 80s, they were just silly, lunatic fun. This franchise needs the Apes treatment where the vampires are treated as the inhabitants of earth and the little groups of surviving humans are just pests to them. A movie where a lone human protagonist comes to terms with that would be pretty cool. Franchise potential because you can turn him into a Vamp and then do a campy sequel where he’s the fish out of water in vampire society and his new vampire gf brings him home to her conservative vampire parents.

Star Trek is a complicated one. As a movie, it’s very solid, probably the best movie to watch if you have never seen any Star Trek (then watch Star Trek Beyond and then go back to TOS), but it is kind of dumb. The villain travels back in time due to his planet being destroyed and instead of going to Romulus and telling his people that their sun will explode, he instead destroys Vulcan to punish Spock. Yes, I am aware that there is a deleted scene where the Klingons capture Nero and his crew, but deleted scenes aren’t canon. What logic is that villain plot? Also Kirk is supposed to be a nerd until after he leaves Starfleet; he’s not Maverick, he’s like that nerdy guy that figures himself out in his 30s (we all know the type). I know, time travel changed his upbringing so he’s no longer the same guy, but there is a missed opportunity to make something different. The internal scientific logic of it is also kind of terrible. Starships are built in space in Star Trek, not on Earth. I know, it’s a great visual, but is also very dumb because of gravity wells (space docks are used instead). The concept of solar system spanning teleportation is also dumb and kind of invalidates the entire concept of the entire show. If you can just teleport between planets, why do they need an Enterprise? This is more of an issue in Star Trek Into Darkness (a truly dreadful Star Trek film), but it just reinforces that this film was made for general audiences and not science fiction fans. Star Trek is a good movie, but a pretty terrible Star Trek movie.

James is exactly like me as a human being: loves the first ten minutes of bumblebee so much that they just want to be burried watching it on loop

star trek 2009 is definitely a soft reboot/legacy reboot, come on. it's an alternate timeline and even has links to the original timeline through old spock, and as you stated the original timeline is still going strong, the kelvin timeline was just those 3 films. a new continuity with nods to the old one is one of the definitions of a soft reboot, and the inclusion of characters from the previous iteration (yes i know it's only one but still) is the definition of a legacy reboot. the it "franchise" isn't a franchise really, it was a 2-part miniseries and the novel got adapted again into 2 films which aren't a remake of the miniseries. i'm not sure a new adaptation of a novel can be considered a reboot tbh, since it has the same setting, story & characters. if you're including different adaptations of the same novel such as it, the thing, war of the worlds, i am legend and dune in the definition of a reboot then this list should include films such as red dragon, frankenstein, pride & prejudice, alice in wonderland, pinnochio etc. that definition is a bit too broad really. great list in any case, hope i haven't come across as too much of a negative nelly, i just wouldn't really consider stuff like the thing, war of the worlds, dune or it to be reboots, they're ...re-adaptations? is that a word?

My wife suggested we watch the horrendous Batman and Robin movie with Clooney and Schwarzenegger. We could not stop laughing.

I will forever defend that movie. I just love how ridiculously dumb and camp it is.

@@Nodiee1 oh trust me I love that it is one giant early 2000's toy commercial 😂 seriously try to find a scene that doesn't lend itself wholly to merchandise that you would have bought as a kid and I'm sure did because let's be honest the early 2000's neon street gangs were just so cool 😂 I'm laughing but not joking even though I love how they're just hanging out in full skilly makeup and contacts in an abandoned warehouse.

Love you guys but learn the difference between a new adaption of material and a reboot. I am legend is a new adaption not a reboot, know people think Dredd is a reboot too but it's not, it's a new adaption of the character from 2000ad.

So the arguement goes for Trek that Galaxy Quest should be included between Insurrection (bad, odd) and Nemesis (bad, allegedly even). This then resolves the numbering for both Nemesis (now odd as the 11th Star Trek movie) and the three Abrams Trek movies. (12, 13, 14).
