Jason Lives is my number one, simply because I don’t really like the horror genre too much. However, I’ll watch Halloween and F13. I feel like Part 6 is the most balanced and best paced in the series. It’s easy to digest and it’s the clear recommendation to casual fans like myself.

I will be honest, Cody. When I first watched the remake, I did with a cynical attitude. Thinking here we go, another remake of a classic. And to be honest, it did win me over. Some people complaint is Jason never kidnapped his victim, he always killed them, he's never acted like that. And yeah, the first two are true, for the never acted that way, she looked like Mrs. Voorhees, and in Part 2, all Jenny did to stop him for a moment was put on Mrs. Voorhees sweater. Just saying.

Jason Goes to Hell is off-the-rails insane, which is more fun for me to watch. That's what it comes down to. Friday the 13th might be more digestible, and does all the things it's supposed to, but it doesn't translate into a funner viewing experience for me.

Blu ray Addict I agree with the top 3, but I'd change the order with the 3d being Part 4, the 2nd part 6 and the best part 2, I just love it and I feel it's really terryfing, incorporating elements from giallo movies that later became signature elements on slasher movies thanks to this one, like the use of more blood, the strong use of colors oversaturated that makes you feel tense with that setting, a psycologic horror ending and of course the introduction of Jason. Great movie and in my opinion the best slasher (yep, even bettter than Halloween)

I totally agree. Most people rank it low because it's the popular thing to do. It doesn't get the same level of cult following respect that Halloween III does, even though it SHOULD. It's such an awesome movie. It still has that old feel to it that was present from Part 1 though 4, but has a slightly new take on it, with entertaining cast of characters, AWESOME kills, 2 amazing set of tits and just fun all around. It's definitely in my top 6 or even top 4 of the overall series.

Great list! I only recently (well, I say recently, but it was probably in the last 2 or 3 years) saw most of the Friday the 13ths movies. And watching your reviews of them was really interesting. Gotta say, though, when you said you're number 1 pick I was like, "hell ya!" because that's my fave of the ones I've seen. I know I'm a bit biased because I love Jared Padalecki, but it's like you said. The characters are good, and that opening scene alone! Just, dang. It's a good one. You've inspired me to find the dvd and watch it tonight. Just seems wrong to not watch it on the actual day! :D

12- Jason goes to hell. It ruined it for me with all the side plots of Jason being a blood line demon. Flat. 11- Jason takes Manhattan. Hated the characters. Did not take place in crystal lake and not really Manhattan. Just a lost sequel. 10 - the new beginning. The whole “hey I was never in your life as a father but since I work at crystal lake as a paramedic and found you dead I’m gonna start killing everyone” made everything confusing and very all over the place. 9 - Freddy vs Jason. As much as the film is very fun to watch with the kills and the battles. The acting and characters made it very difficult for me to watch. I do have respect for it but definitely not my favorite. 8 - friday the 13th part 3. The cheesy characters and very bad makeup effects didn’t bring it as well as it could have. The final girl is amazing and kinda carried the film. I did enjoy some characters but it all felt very odd. 7- a new blood. I didn’t mind the storyline of Tina having powers. I enjoyed it for what it was. A Friday film with a twist. The characters were actually cool in my opinion. Nothing bad about them but also nothing that screams “I feel for you” 6 - Jason x. A blast from the past. Even though it has all those over the top space effects, you can tell they knew what they were doing and did not try to take it seriously since it wasn’t. Very fun to watch. 5- Friday the 13th part 1. I loved that Pamela Vorhees ended up being a psychotic mom seeking revenge. It showed realistic classic value. The kills are great and even though they aren’t pulled over very well, it still was original in the gore factor. 4 - Jason lives. Very Good Friday sequel. Everything about it seemed in place. The pacing was good and the story line was more then interesting. The acting was well done and brought a sense of condolence to it. 3- Friday the 13th (2009) I enjoyed how modern and brutal the film was. It was a movie I wanted to see Friday have in its franchise. That being said the only issue I had was the characters weren’t very universal. It seemed that they were very forced rather then being natural. Once you see college kids acting like over the top sexual drug loving college kids with no naturalism, it takes away from the film. 2- Friday the 13th part 2. To me this is one of the strongest sequels. I loved seeing Jason introduced and I really enjoyed the final girl. The 3rd act cat and mouse chase was super exciting. Not to forget how all the side characters were examples of how the side characters in Friday (2009) should have embodied. They were all unique and relatable. 1- the final chapter. This is hands down the most entertaining sequel in the franchise. It really shows how creative Jason can be in his kills. I also really appreciate the out of the window stunts that take place. Tommy Jarvis defeating Jason was great especially with the nod to part 2.

Part 8 also had KID Jason which we hadn't seen since the first movie in 1980 and who I find very creepy and frightening - THAT is something that I do like about THAT movie. Oh, and the scene with Jason encountering the punkers was pretty funny.
