I still remember playing the first one in a yellow/black screen, on a 286 machine. So many memories! I remember saving money and buying them in these big boxes and playing them come summertime, or going to my father’s office, grabbing the empty seat for the slow machine and playing for hours while waiting for my father to finish with his work and then both going home. The 3rd one I remember also vividly, it was short, but you could play all these cool hybrid overpowered characters! Thank you for waking up all these memories. I didn’t know how good I had it!!!

Quest for Glory 3 had the best cover art, though.

this was my favorite in the series. The graphics blew me away when I first saw it. The consoles couldn't touch it.

I think ranking these games from best to worst doesn't fit in the broadest sense. Ranking these games by category is a much more in keeping with celebrating the series as a whole. Criteria like: story, gameplay, replayability, NPC characters, setting, graphics, class paths & battle system, just to name a few, is a much better way to grade each aspect of these games. I think it would be more informative to settle on the most definitive game. The game that best captures the ideas of the series and provides the best experience.

It wasn't really a worst as each gets praise and none are bad. Got liked by the creators, so I trust I did it to their liking.

liking your best of series... quest for glory was/is my favorite point and clicks from back then.. my favorites from 1 to 5 is QFG2 QFG4 QFG5 QFG1 QFG3 . I had them all in big boxes (as well as space quests 1 through 5 and police quest 1-3) But i loved them all and really it all comes down to my experiences i had in them all. i definitely had more fun with QFG2 because of how lost you could get in the city... which is why it is my first or else 4 would of been 1 for me

Ya I agree the fighting system is the week link of the game.

Appreciate your thoughts on this; you have great insight into this series.

Also your rendition of the toke up guitar solo from 3 was spot on.

The combat of qfg3 is better than the combat of qfg4. But the demonic boyar is by far the strongest opponent I faced in qfg4. I had to save and restore the game several times before facing it. The enchanted dragon is the toughest boss in the whole series by far.

For me, what really dragged QFG3 down was having to trek back and forth across that giant map for what felt like an endless number of times. And, so often, getting stuck in combat when you didn't want to (which, I agree, was badly done in this game). It's a shame, because I love the setting and the story. The atmosphere of the game is great. But the gameplay itself could've been so much better. Especially with the thief, as you said. That was always my favorite character class, and it was super disappointing that there was practically nothing you could do with him in this game.

For me I think the order would be QFG4 QFG2 QFG5 QFG1 QFG3.

I felt the demon wizard boss in qfg3 was a far more formidable and strong final boss compared to the pitiful final boss in qfg4.. I mean all you had to do was tell ultimate joke and throw a spear. It's like fighting a regular brigand in qfg2. The final boss in qfg5 was definitely the hardest. You needed your whole crew and had to give toro the axe. And keep Toro and Gort healthy to stand a chance. It was the most impressive battle. I'd say qfg4 is my least favorite and the worst of all the games because it had numerous errors and was pretty boring. It was really complicated to get to the scientist and it had a boring storyline. I actually felt this game should have been before qfg3. Then qfg3 and qfg5. Because the graphics were also inferior compared to qfg3.

The Dragon literally falls apart with the frostbite spell or a 500 strength Paladin.

2 wins easily. From there - 4, 5, 3, 1. I don’t get all the love for 1, it’s so tiny and boring and there’s no real story whatsoever? What am I missing?
@SaxcatGamingCorner4 жыл бұрын
The story prelude is in the manual. You are a young hero that just finished his correspondence school and sees a wanted sign for a hero. He sees the no experience necessary and heads off. As he arrives the path is blocked off so you are trapped in the valley. When you talk to the sheriff, guildmaster, chief thief and guard at baron castle you get most of the story. You also find a lot from reading the quest board. And in reality, if you take out all the mazes and the repeated parts of the desert, 2 is not much bigger than 1, although I do think 2 is a far better game overall. 2 is a great game, but I personally don't think it wins easily. The big con to that game is the time constraints. But I'll get to all of that when I get to those particular games. Once again, they are all good, so they can move around and be different for any person based on preference.

I think what you are missing is that at the time the game came out it was revolutionary, at least that is why I loved it so much! I still remember the giant, how scary he was, and me trying to fill his hands with apples! Or the first time I was attacked out of nowhere by that panther-like monster! Almost peed my pants! It created such strong memories for me, I will love it always!!!
