I never had much difficulty with the Mage's Maze, but then I usually played a Magic-User so had enough mana to get through it. Fun fact: if your lock pick skill is above 40, you can use the lock pick on yourself to "pick your nose" without it being fatal, and in fact it acts like you're picking any other lock. So once it's above 40 it's a really convenient and quick way to max it out to 100.

The trigger spell is pretty awesome in the grand world building of the series. It sets off magical enchantments. It can be used to detonate magical traps. Of particular note - it can be used to remotely detonate a magical staff, which is useful if something were to steal yours.

The AGD remake of Quest for Glory II is a free download. So if any y'all want to try the series, you have no excuse.
@ThePreciseClimber2 жыл бұрын
What Quest for Glory did with world-building is something fantasy video games still don't do very often. I mean teasing the locations from future games by including characters from those places in earlier games. QfG1 takes place in a Germanic country but you encounter the Katta couple from Shapeir (Middle East), Baba Yaga from Mordavia (Eastern Europe) and Toro the Minotaur from Silmaria (Greece). And then QfG2 had the Liontaur from Tarna (Central Africa).
@Vicsongwriter2 ай бұрын
How do you know Toro was from Silmaria?

I can proudly declare that I paused to read every single death message screen (including the ones that stayed less than a second on screen). Same for all of the message screens from the game, actually. I regret nothing! (okay, there were a few text screens that I couldn't read, but that's not my fault. (see from 13:13 to 13:19 That map that you made ( 7:45 ) is really nice. You found that secret passage without the hint? I guess that Wall-Checking Degree came in useful. By the way, what does the Score out of 500 in the top right corner mean? Is it something akin to an achievement completion score or a 100% game completion score?
@DaveControlLive4 жыл бұрын
It makes me so happy you noticed the map. It took a surprisingly large amount of time, so that honestly makes my night as I wasn't sure if anyone would notice/appreciate it. So, you get achievement points for completing certain tasks - but it acts more as a guide to show you that you're on the right path. You don't get anything for getting 500 other than personal satisfaction.
@sancturillore4 жыл бұрын
@@DaveControlLive Two things. 1- Have you ever gotten 500 in one of your playthroughs? 2- You bet I'm appreciated that map! I have OCD (for details) in plus of Asperger Syndrome, so I love details like that. When it was on screen, I paused the video and carefully and slowly checked every single part of the map. As in, looking at not only the content in each small area, but also how the areas interconnected and how to navigate through the game world. It appears that you can't go in all four directions for all of them, which in my opinion gives the map more life as well as making it less confusion for newcomers. The many details can thus easily be used as landmarks to facilitate navigating through the game world.
@DaveControlLive4 жыл бұрын
@@sancturillore I don't think I have... I think I ended this session with 490 (or something around there), and quickly glanced at a walkthrough to see if there was anything I could spot I missed. Some tasks are worth 1 point, so at a glance, I had no idea - it seemed like I'd hit everything. You're correct on the map! Several portions won't let you go all 4 directions. There's also 4 pieces of map missing at the top that I couldn't fit. I would have had to make the map on screen even smaller, and decided I wanted to preserve at least somewhat being able to see it. :-/ (And figured only I would be annoyed I couldn't fit the whole thing, haha).
@sancturillore4 жыл бұрын
@@DaveControlLive Yeah, I can understand that sort of dilemma. In the end though, taking the time to go through the map before continuing to watch the video made it easier for me to understand where you where in the game in the rest of the video As a result I did notice the few places that weren't on the map, but I don't think those were absolutely needed in the map (since they were areas in the border and which could seemingly only be accessed through specific paths which were shown in the map). The Magician's area with the mini-game being one such example. So I think you made the right choice.
