Played the original "hero's quest" in high school. For us, it was a "King's Quest" with added character types, action, combat, and a more open storyline with tons of optional sidequests and per-class content. We all loved the series and couldn't get enough of it.

QFG is my favorite series ever. Such awesome memories and story telling. I was immersed as a kid, really feeling the story. Trial by Fire is number one for me, followed by Shadows of Darkness, then Hero's Quest, Wages of War, and then QFGV, didn't care for it much.
@sierrakobold68963 жыл бұрын
QFG was the game series that made me a true gamer at a young age, from this series i realized how complex and intricate the story, characters, plot and environements of video games could be, cuz nothing of this scope could be found on the consoles i owned at the time like SNES and Genesis. QFG is the most important game series in my life and it hold the most nostalgia, sentiment and memories of any games I had ever played
@sierrakobold68963 жыл бұрын
also when you think about it QFG didn't lack quantity, quite the opposite since the amount of content in a single qfg entry is exponentially more than KQ, SQ, PQ, LSL, GK due to it being a roleplaying game with 3 different character classes that have different paths to follow within each game, also the story of the games i felt were much more complex than the other quest series. thats why qfg has always been the absolute best series regardless of personal taste just based on how much unique content

Great video, your rankings are exactly mine. I was OBSESSED with this series growing up having played through many many multiple times. Number 4 was actually the first I played as I didn’t get a PC until 1994 and it opened my world to both RPG and point and click adventure games. Was always disappointed they didn’t make a 6th game using Kickstarter because they didn’t own the rights anymore.

Technocery. 2 is by far my favorite. Great puzzles, best interface, great humor, epic length. Lots to do, balanced, and told well. More mature than game 1, fewer stumbles of later games. 1, however, will always have a place in my heart. I bought it (well, Dad bought it) when it was Hero's Quest. It was a great step into role playing elements coming out of the [etc.] Quest games that I played before it.

realize i'm late to party for this video but i found your channel a few months ago. in any case my ranking is 3,2,1,5,4. the reason i put five in second is because it changed the way i eat pizza forever :-P. also with the fifth one according to the coles and others who worked at sierra at the time the fifth was meant to be an on line game but they found out sierra online was being shut down (chainsaw monday) and so they made it a single player but with bugs, such as why your character always loots arrows off dead monsters but you never get a bow for it. Love the channel and all the game series that are played on this channel.
@LetsPlayWithBrigands9 ай бұрын
Ha yeah you know I like that list. I never thought about looting all those arrows and yet never having a means to use them actually, but that explanation makes total sense. The final titles for each of the major Sierra series were all so different than the rest in so many ways as the company was shifting and turning into something completely different, but I have a soft spot for most of if not all of them.

I had spoken wit Corey Cole back in '15 and the reason for wages of war were a bit more than people thought, there was a lot of requests by friends of theirs on how they wanted a more expansive and origin revealing story arch's for characters in trial by fire that would have been never revisited if QFG3: shadows of darkness would have continued the series as the eastern European/Slavic ethno-linguistic/cultural geographic setting originally planned

I played Quest for glory 5 first. Only recently did I play through the entire series. From my perspective i'd rank them as: 1) Quest for glory 4 2) Quest for glory 2 (The fan remake) 3) Quest for glory 5 4) Quest for glory 1 5) Quest for glory 3 The games do feel a bit dated to me, but the humor and story is still there. The interface is a bit of a pain and it can be hard to figure out where to go and what to do.

I feel pretty similarly on the rankings - that's about right. I'd consider putting II above IV, but they're both so great and IV has advantages that the future offered which II could have never had, but still amazing for its time. I'm playing through the series again right now (also uploading let's plays as I go) and it's as good as it ever was. Still feel a little down about 3, but it's still a great game despite the troubles. I'm in the midst of IV right now which is always awesome, but I am kind of eager to replay V. V and III are the ones I've replayed the least in my lifetime. I do plan to play them all yet again with the Fighter>Paladin class next month (I do really love the initiation bit if you're playing the class in III), but for now sticking with my favorite, the Thief. Who doesn't like to play the Thief? Hah.
@micahbush53977 ай бұрын
For me, a major factor that affects how much I like each game is how easy it is to build up particular skills. In some games, building up Stealth is so ridiculously time-consuming it's not even worth the bother, and others (2 and 3 come to mind) offer virtually no opportunities to practice Climbing. Another factor is how practical dagger-throwing is in combat. The EGA version of the first game allowed you to throw a few daggers before entering combat, softening up the enemy, which I loved, but some games made this impractical or wouldn't allow you to retrieve your daggers. And while I like the additional combat techniques in the AGD remake of the second game, the timing was terrible, and actions like throwing daggers or casting spells took WAY too long.
@micahbush53977 ай бұрын
Also, the second game had one massive issue: You had to wait for the caravan. In the other games, there might be schedules to keep or days spent just building up your skills, but in Quest for Glory 2, it was easily possible to find yourself at a point with nothing to do for several days besides waiting for the next elemental to show up.
@LetsPlayWithBrigands7 ай бұрын
Yeah I'm with you that it's extremely frustrating in some of the games that you can sneak the entire game, really take your time with the game, too, and STILL not have it maxed by the end.

playing all the games in row, finally got to QfG5 for the first time and... surprised at how much fun I'm having so far! at this point my ranking would be 4 > 1 > 2=5 > 3 3 is the only lower point for me so far - love the setting, graphics etc., but the game has quite little to offer and I got totally stuck in the mid-part - had zero idea I simply HAD to train up my spear, game gives you like zero clues how to progress.

Happy New Year. Agreed wholeheartedly with your ranking of the Quest for Glory series. In QFG3, I really missed the thieves guild. Yes, I know you can make the sign and get some training, but I thought the developers really messed up there. The humor, adventure and glory made it a brilliant series. Did not think QFG5 was that good, it was the graphics and controls that threw me off. Can you try a full Quest for Glory 1-5 thief walkthrough, imported and without 'sucking blue frogs'? No. 1 used to be my favourite (I preferred the original to the remake) because of the novelty and sense of adventure from playing a sierra game with RPG elements, a day-night cycle, and free-roaming exploration. But in hindsight I agree QFG IV was the best. The dark atmosphere, the story, the characters... Add to that as a 14 year old I found the whole Rusulka thing rather interesting.
