@@CL2- I was personally unaware of that because I do not at all use Tik -Tok nor will i ever but with that being said i guess if they are genuinely enjoying the music and can find a connection im all for it but i suspect you mean most of them are just posing pretending to like them to seem different and cool and that is not at all what the Smiths were about so yeah sounds a little lame I noticed the same thing with Nirvana with all these kids with Nirvana shirts on that were definitely not around when Nirvana actually was playing which would be fine but the problem I started to realize is that the majority of them who I ask about Nirvana do not actually like them or know anything about them they just bought the shirt to look cool and as somebody who lived through that era and was a die-hard Nirvana fan before and after Kurt's death it really irritates me smh

I don't see that as being a bad thing. I also don't think they are being reduced to that type of band as much as it being a newer generation of listeners responding to the Smith's sound. Those who love the Smiths will listen to them 50 years from now, where as those who find it a trend or popular sound are simply pushing that musicto the potential listeners who have no idea what the Smith's are about. And since they broke up in 86-87 there's no way new fans will hear them in live settings imo it's really the best way for their sound to last

It has (in almost every case) better versions of songs from past records, as well as being the record that gives a home to how soon is now. I legit hope you cover the band soon cause I think Johnny Marr is one of the most underrated guitarists ever. The way he mixed multiple guitar tracks into a single track like William It Was Really Nothing and layered them makes their sound so signature and stand out immediately musically to me.
