It's always great to see another video from you. I hadn't thought about the operation score for "Sandy Duncan's Jekyll and Hyde" the way that you did, but it makes sense for it to be so high. Nice job working in the Valerie Harper references there. It's also interesting that both episodes ended up with the same overall scores despite the very different breakdowns. From a watchability standpoint, I preferred the first episode, in part due to the guest star.
@JoeGoesOver Жыл бұрын
I have to say Sandy Duncan is easily one of the most adorable guest appearances in the Scooby franchise, even if a certain Great Dane's "attention" is a bit... disturbing. The whole evil studio executive thing is obviously in the public eye right now considering the historic double strike (at the time of this comment) between the actors and writers, but I have to admit feeling ashamed about my original feelings about the whole Valerie Harper thing back in the day. At the time she was fired, like many of us too young and dumb to appreciate what was actually going on, I got a kick out of the studio canning their "greedy" lead actor, and thought it'd send the clear message to other upstarts that no matter if their name was on the title of the show, they could get replaced. Now, of course, I understand that the bad guys have ALWAYS been the studio executives who don't value the actual talent that earns them their yachts. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

@JoeGoesOver Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I was initially unsure about keeping that bit in during the editing stage, but figured it was a good place to give advice from a former hotel worker's perspective. In fact, not only do you ALWAYS get reservations ahead of time, but you CALL AND CONFIRM those reservations. In fact, you call and confirm more than once, including the day you're due to arrive. At the Schmoliday Schminn, the reservation computer automatically overbooked on busy weekends because the company thought it was more important that every room be filled rather than making sure a customer is guaranteed a room. My manager at the time had a brilliant way to prevent that, though, by creating fake reservations for our busiest weekends and cancelling them toward the early evening once most of the guests had arrived. For those hotels that don't have conscientious managers like that, a phone call ahead to confirm you're arriving helps the staff know that they had better make sure YOUR room is available because the last thing they want to do is be guaranteed an irate person screaming at them upon arrival after having made several phone calls to confirm their reservations.

Perhaps writers just use "Mammoth" to denote a giant organization, like how they named Superman's location "Metropolis" because the name literally means "large city". I never understood why they don't just give these places less generic names. What's the worst that could happen if they use the name of a city that actually exists? Hell, there was an episode of Super Friends that took place in a made-up city, but the name the writers chose was the same as a local small town near me and it blew my mind. Still does, actually, since the name is so obscure. The town near me may actually be the only one with that name in the entire country. Thanks for watching and commenting!

6:21-7:01 considering that What’s New Scooby Doo continues this trend of the apologist villain trope, it sadly can get worse. I theorize that the Scooby gang are so used to greedy and corrupt swindlers and criminals that they’re willing to be more forgiving to the villains who have justifiable motives for their crimes. Then again, they didn’t even bother to arrest Terry aka the Roller Ghoster from Roller Ghoster Ride, even though she was legitimately damaging rides and recklessly endangering others no matter what Velma said, and her motives were so pathetic and selfish that it’s baffling she got away with it anyway. Hell, Crunchy from She Sees Sea Monsters by the Sea Shore had a sympathetic motive for his crimes and he wasn’t instantly forgiven for them either but was rightfully arrested for them. It’s starting to become apparent that the Scooby Gang are probably just that tired of constantly arresting people they unmask and are willing to cut slack on the more sympathetic villains, but even then, they should know better than to forgive attempted murder and sabotage (“Sabotage? How? When?”) regardless of motive..

Hmmm, wouldn't have melting the doubloons down into standard bars of gold -- which was presumably Meekly's end game after smuggling them out of town as trash cans -- have devalued the gold itself? Objects of value such as gold artifacts can go up and down on the scale of what they can go for if they have a historical element to them, and using modern smelting techniques would not only wipe out the obvious molding from being doubloons but also eliminate whatever impurities from the old coin-casting process, which is one of the few reliable methods for determining age and authenticity.

Thank you for watching, commenting and subscribing. Unfortunately, it's a "wait and see" for what series I'll hit after this. I'd love to say "yes" but these are somewhat time-consuming to produce (sadly, I'm not a full-time KZbinr so can't comfortably devote 40+ hours per week). I'm somewhat anal-retentive when it comes to doing things in chronological order as much as possible, and there are a WHOLE lot of series between 'The New Scooby-Doo Movies' and the stuff produced today. I've given thought to either doing series out of order or possibly rotating between them (like say, episode 1 of 'Scooby and Scrappy Doo' followed by episode 1 of 'The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries', then episode 1 of another series, etc.), but some of my analysis involves comparing a particular villain's plan or outfit to others that came before, which would be somewhat curtailed if I don't examine things in order.

Well they did reuse the zombie in the Mumba Wamba episode just by wearing pink instead of green I like both of theses episodes especially the Shark god which I thought you were going to talk more on this Shark God origins? Scooby Doo meets Spider-Man would have been fun especially from the 60’s cartoon version and speaking of have you seen Across the spider Verse? There was a moment at the end where it almost looked like there could have been three Shark Men (right after Hildago tells them to head to the hotel, when we see two in the water then it cuts to one walking next to the Gang), but that's probably due to the usual Hanna-Barbera sloppy editing. I saw the first Spider-Verse film and while I found the story and voices good, the animation style with the non-standard framerate was a deal-breaker for me. I realize they were going for a "comic book" effect and the choice was deliberate and made for artistic reasons, but it was just too distracting for me personally, so I didn't bother with the sequel. There really wasn't much to talk about when it comes to the Shark God origins as it was likely just made up by Meekly (Velma says the story "was fishy"). Thanks for watching and commenting!
