Dog Groomers category, eh? even know I don't provide the service... it's just a business directory service. I was looking at business services categories.

If it's just a business directory that doesn't provide a service then I don't think you can have a GBP in that case. Focus on your site's normal SEO

I don't think the feature is available in India. It's likely your competitor's social media links were automatically added by Google

I would not recommend doing it without a DBA. However, if your listing already has strong signals (lots of reviews, traffic, etc), Google may let you pass and your local performance will improve. Just keep in mind that a competitor can also use the redressal form to report your listing as inaccurate/misleading or they can edit the listing back to your actual name. Luc has covered this topic in some of his other great videos!
