maybe this is nostalgia talking but i really love the speed/Stealth kill element to this game it gives you the option to go in swords blazing or stealth kill all the enemies, it was also my first introduction to stealth in a video game and it was really rewarding to try and kill all the enemies unoticed. and unlike other "quick time events" it was very fluid and diddnt take you out of the action. Id rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it so to speak. Also the third one was my favourite out of the three it had element of the first two games plus more. and as dunkey would say. This trilogy is a 5 out of 5 masterpiece.

The Reason for the Quick Kill System is to add a different gameplay feel your a fugitive in your own City needing to sneak around to save your People. Plus its also Combat, Platforming, and Puzzle elements All thrown into together to see if you can kill all of the enemies quickly and Silently its SUPER fun to complete clear a room with out having to use the pretty good combat system. But even when you fail to do so you don't feel ripped off you have another chance with the Traditional Combat making this game Pretty solid imo

You know what I dont understand? In WW we had such a hard time to fight kaileena. And now T2T wants to tell me that 2 defaults managed to get her up the tower, bond and even let herself be killed by that old guy. Why didnt she just teleport away? The girl had the full power of time. She could slap everyones ass up their. Maybe she did accept that she didnt belong to that fate, to be alive. That would also not make any sense. She literally fought for her life against us in WW. It would be better if there was another way to release the sands of time but not kill kaileena. Then we play with kaileena and farah during the storyline. At a certain point we can chose to save kaileena but farah dies or save farah but kaileena dies. So we get a alternate story at 30-50% of the game.

I actually like speedkilling as a mechanic for stealth kills. It adds tension, so it's not enough to just sneak behind the opponent and magically insta kill it. You still have to actually successfully kill them or else you are just detected. But, then, i also love stealthing it up, even in games not entirely built for it. As for bosses, yeah, not a fan of it there.

9:34 They did pander to the Sands of Time fans. You see... The Two Thrones was supposed to be called Kindred Blades and would have had a tone similar to Warrior Within. Not only that, but the trailer footage before The Two Thrones release showcased some parts of the story that simply do not happen in the final game. Also you could choose, at will, to become the Dark Prince or regular Prince. Yeah... sounds more exiting than what we got now. Also, is that gameplay footage from the HD POP Collection? It looks off... some missing effects like the Dark Prince and the chain glowing a bright yellow and even bloom and post processing effects. It really looked better on the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube and especially on PC.

This is heavily implied in both her opening and closing dialogue.)

This game would be good. E3 the introduction was super and fantastic. Then they changed the gameplay a little bit but story was changed completely. In original you transform dark prince via fire. When you got into fire you become dark prince and in water you become human however in original you're not dark You're more bright than normal because of the fire and you have white hairs.Again you have same armor which was in WW and same amulet. In original story when you arrive the city you realize that the city is ruled by your doppelganger in short, your other version but very you rule the city. They capture you and chain you. Empress sees this and pities you a short time after she suicides :( Thus sands of time are released again. Shame them :( this lore was so much good and game was dark like WW. You can watch E3 video and older gameplay you'll notice the difference.

Honestly I liked playing Two Thrones, but it REALLY felt like a pandering plot. Also Farah didn't add much to the plot, since he was already on his way to kill the Visier anyway. Seeing that the discarded *Kindred Blades* was going to be an ACTUAL Warrior Within sequel, with multiple endings, and you choosing if you'll play as Dark Prince rather then a set transformation. And they didn't go through with it because: criticism, and maybe console limitations. Though, my favourite level is in this game, the one with light sword in the dark labyrinth after he finds his dad dead, again. Not as fun as others, but I guess it works symbollically. Either way, hope they make a game again, either a reboot or one where he tells daddy he killed his bro, and suddenly DAHAKA. Wonder how many people died to that thing before the Prince realised it was after him, and basically unkillable.

Personally, why I really hate this game is because it feels like a step back. Same setting as the first one again with unnecessary bloat (like the Horse Riding Section) and lack of the charme and introvert moments, exchanging a perfectly developed character that had an entire arc in the last game for Farah, which hasn't had any development and her entire character and usefulness could probably be described as "playful love interest". The music was a step back for me as well apart from one tune I really liked. Everything was dialed back to "Disney's" Sands Of Time but still wanting to be grim and dark. And I don't know how they fked it up so bad, but they didn't even have the decency to at least let Kaileena be the beauty, in the ending cutscene of warrior within to this game (which probably was made in the same production frame, let's be real) she just looked so damn off to me, completely different to her in game pixely polygon appearance, and, most importantly, to the concept arts. I get it, they wanted to get back to this Persian Theme, that's why she had to look like this, but it feels so disjointing to the previous game. Also what's pissing me off is that the Visir knows that the sands are contained within her because... FUCK HE JUST KNOWS MAN. It was this huge reveal that the player had to figure themselves out but we can't have ANYTHING from Warrior Within I guess so the player and the prince are just dumb, big F in my book.

I actually really liked the ending of WW and was really disappointed that they changed the invader of Babylon from the corrupted Prince from a some kind of time loop hole to the Vizier. I didn't like that Dark Prince wasn't completely in control whenever you transformed as well. Instead you were just Prince with a new costume. I also missed Farah's original voice actor. As for WW I thought the Sand Wraith section was suitably foreshadowed and it didn't bother me in the slightest. I also loved the section though gameplaywise. Infinite ravages of time.

Speed Killing feels narratively pleasing. Argue about it as a mechanic, but lore wise it fits in very well. In one of the monologues, the Prince says something along the lines of "Having to hide in my own city". He needs to try and limit his normal combat experiences as much as he can. It's pretty similar to the much more difficult combat system of Assassin's Creed Unity, Ubisoft tried to make you actually be an Assassin. Play stealthy, or struggle. Like you're supposed to. And I'd like to argue that the Speed killing idea was a factor to birthing Assassin's Creed. I say this 5 years later. [Gigachad]

He wanted to right that wrong and had to learn to trust the Prince to get the job done. Not only were they a great team as the game goes on they start to let their guard down with each other. Telling each other secrets learning about each other. When she asked him if he was alright after he had to defeat his father. She had to show him that he didn't have to curry such a heavy burden and that she was there for him. His actions led to her death because he couldn't trust the one person who wanted what she wanted. She helped nurse him back to help and was concerned for his well being when he woke up from the time blitz. She actually started to worry about him going into the time blitz. Speed killing was awesome. If you screwed up the QTE or were seen you could still rewind time to correct your mistakes but this would leave you vulnerable in the next fight due to the players lack of sand so it encouraged players to take alternate approaches to combat and to better themselves. It was incredibly satisfying to take down a whole group of enemies without being seen while being detected was certainly annoying it was still fair. The bosses were certainly annoying they were certainly better than the button mashing and abuse of counter attacks in warrior within and the quick time events added a bit of variety. P.s. kiting enemies into walls during the chariot segments was great.

I just really liked the speed kill system cuz I felt that the increased combat and spongy enemies in warrior within were very irritating as platforming and puzzles is when PoP is at it's best imo. At least they gave us an option to bypass it.

Dude quick time events are easy if you have a reflex bigger then a dead horse.. if you can't even do it in Two thrones what's the point of playing?? And not all people like having to fight all the time..

I haven't had the chance to play the Sands of Time Trilogy. Didn't have the systems back then. But I did try out the 2006/7 Prince of Persia reboot later on. Was interesting.

I think, if the developers had released the real version of this game (Kindred Blades) things would have been differnt. The visuals, the action and story even the character design was quite different. I think if Ubisoft does indeed re-release this trilogy the should release it as it was intended.

My issue with the boss fights are that they can only be defeated using quick time events. Yeah you had QTE's in the game for all enemies, but if you want you can skip them and be a combat god, but to have the boss fights ONLY victory condition to be placed in the hands of a QTE hurts the game. I think Dev's do QTE's because they want to show off their animation, but when you play a QTE you're not looking at the animation, you're entire focus is on the button you're pushing and waiting for the next to pop up so you end up missing the animation entirely.

In the Sand Wraith's (lovingly called Maggot Man) defense, there pretty much no sensible way to get a solution to the conundrum at hand without it being painfully obvious what's going on. The Prince pretty much had to look entirely different, possibly mute for this plot twist to work. Now is it absolutely ridiculous how he get's to learn about the Mask? Sure thing, that has no defense and is a weak point. Does it have it's place in the Story and serves a purpose plus giving you a decent reason for reusing locations throughout as you sort of lurk your past self from the shadows, all the while acting as the "gloves off" part of the game with the hardest platforming sections and combat sequences in it? Heck yeah, it's a gauntlet, testing all you've learned. It's just not all that compelling the second time+ through. When you know the twist, when you got super good at the game, it comes off as you've described it, even to me, a diehard, "til the grave" fan.

I believe it was shit. It forces you to hours of watching the prince fall a wall, the combat was pretty good but the way they presented it all at once was too overwhelming, and the fact that they won't let you die but your partner saves you unlimitedly, they could just let you rewind time. They really f it up with that game and force prince of Persia to lose popularity. They had such a great potencial but they didn't do it right. I personally loved everything else in that game but with all those problems it was not worth it in my opinion

i think the best part of this game was the connection between the prince and elika and the art style was gorgeous as well. its true the game was too easy and you cannot die but that didnt bother me

it is a very underrated game with flaws... 1) the title of the game... 2) you can't die or loose... The voice over is good..the animations are freaking EXCELLENT..the graphics are beautiful most of the times..and the OST fits perfectly

Have you played the Wii version of The Forgotten Sands? If not, I highly suggest you do so, at first I was hesitant to do it, because I tought it was just a downgraded port of the ps3/360 version, but I played it a couple of years ago, and turns out, it is a completely different game, with a completely different story. And best of all, it's good, really good actually, as a matter of fact, I'd say the Wii version of The Forgotten Sands has the best platforming in the series by far, they give you a bunch of powers that makes platforming a lot more freeform, make your own path style, instead of the previous follow the designated path through the level laid out to you by the devs, it's really amazing actually and if any new Prince of Persia comes out, I would really like it if they follow the platforming beats that game had. IN SHORT, play the Wii version of The Forgotten Sands, it's a great game and, you won't regret it.
@clowe10097 жыл бұрын
Well to be fair, all The Forgotten Sands games aren't really movie tie ins, as in, they have nothing to do with the movie, Ubisoft just released them at the same time to cash in on all the movie buzz. They actually take place between Sands of Time and Warrior Within. I can't stress it enough tho, The Wii version of The Forgotten Sands is a great game, anyone reading this who didn't give it a chance at the time like me because you thought it was a downgraded port, DO IT, you won't be dissapointed, trust me.

In the first boss fight, I don't remember climbing obstacles to stab the dude's eyes. I just kept hitting him in the legs until he eventually falls down and I climb on his back pressing space. It would trigger a quick time event where I stabbed him in the eyes whenever the dagger flashed, that was it.
@rafagrupp49537 жыл бұрын
Kingdom hearts 2 final mix made the quick time events right, it lets you smash the triangle and make many attacks with them, it feels like another style of attack for each enemy, if anything that's the way to do it

I think the quick even mechanics have to do with the map layout and combat synergy, if you take a careful look at the previous two games combat was always done to further develop the story, each section in the first game added something more to the story where we could explore the characters more, the second game did similar but it didnt feel that hand holdy, like the prince was just there on his man duty to defeat his enemies and die in the process if necessary, the third game felt like a desperate blend, although i loved the game at the time now looking back at it only loved it because of the dark prince, and the vezier's design, and generally the character designs, even the city was good, but the gameplay synergy just wasnt there, at all, compared to the previous games. In length and content you could say: SoT: is around 5.5 WW: is around 10. TT: is around 7,5. That is how long the game goes on and how complicated the events seem, however teh story felt more genunely interesting in SoT and the mechanics only backed it up, while in WW it was mainly all about hte mahcnics and somehow the mechanics equalled out in importance with the story, yet you spent 90% of the game fighting and doing stuff before you got a cutscene or had some more story relevant sections. While SoT was all about story relevant sections with just the right amount of fighting and problem solving in between to balance out the pacing. TT felt derived of both, it had nice characters but all in all its far from its predecessors. Still just those few good things can save the entire game. Btw, have you played the other prince of persia? not the one you mention in the game, but the other one, i never finished that game it just didnt feel right, but perhaps you might like that one. :p

I'm surprised that there's no mention of Kindred Blades when mentioning the story and atmosphere of T2T. That should've been a far better closing chapter to the SoT trilogy plus the atmosphere and gameplay elements were far greater than what T2T delivered. They had to water down a lot due to the complaints of SoT fans when PoP3 was being shown to the public.

Years too late, but I'll share my opinion anyway, because nobody I know cares about the series much anymore. Its a solid game- but I do think it could have been a hell of a lot better. The original planned version featured free-roam exploration in Babylon- and presumably side quests. It would have struck more of a balance between the Sands of Time aesthetic and the Warrior Within without generally pandering to the fans (for some reason) apparent dislike of WW. Never understood peoples dislike of it, but thats a seperate issue. It also would have made the Dark Prince even more interesting than he actually was, and would have seen the player given the option to choose between the two personas or even synthesise/ balance them to an extent. In that version, the Dark Prince is more explicitely an anti-hero rather than borderline evil, though you can choose that path. As for the actual game as we got it, its good but a bit mediocre compared to what we could have had. The Dark Prince was a great addition and I actually didnt mind the speed kills as they (sort of) added a strategic dimension to things without replacing normal combat. They just shouldnt have made it mandatory to win some boss fights- like the infuriating one against the two brothers. With the direction they actually chose in the end, I have to say that if they were going to do the whole "Prince conquers his dark side" thing and make (IMO) unnecessary stabs at his desperate and rough but rugged, self-sufficient and driven personality in WW, they should have at least made the DP actually full on evil. In the end, its debateable if he might be a bit beyond an anti-hero- but the DP doesnt really do or suggest much that is overtly evil. Hes cold, selfish and cruel- but hes also results orientated. He wants the Vizier dead, which is still ultimately the best thing for everybody. There isnt, except for one of the very early trailers, any indication that he would actually mistreat the people of Persia, even if he might be a rather hands off and aloof ruler. I'd rather that than a tyrant, though, to be fair. He's certainly not as bad as the Vizier even if he isnt a saint either. A great idea, but I think a little poorly executed. Overall, probably my least favorite in the trilogy, too, but still a good game. Anyway, good video. You have gained a subscriber.
