What I want to know is why these adaptations end up completely changing the story and fucking it up, like Code Breaker and Tokyo Ghoul, those put me in tears. ALSO Fairy Tail for all its issues, reading it, there's blood fucking everywhere but in the show there's no blood but nudity is ok I don't UNDERSTAAAND LIFE

I can't relate to complaining about Filler Arcs. If the characters aren't interesting or fun enough for me to want to watch them no matter what, then I'm not gonna care about the "real" arcs either.

That is flawed logic. You can take the best characters in fiction, but if you give them to a child and tell them to make a story of course it won't be good. There is a big difference between a mangaka who labored for decades to deliver there story to the world and a collage graduate with no practical experience getting a paycheck every month.

Of course its not inherently bad, nor inherently good. The point I'm making is that filler is essentially a wholly separate piece of art to be judged on its own merits. Dragon Ball filler made the story more fleshed out and gave the characters greater depth. Bleach filler destroys the tightly written pacing of the original story. It all comes down to skill, but the truth of the matter is that very few people withing the industry have even close to enough skill to enhance a narrative. Where as the stories that could be enhanced because they where heavily flawed to begin with won't get an anime adaptation in the first place.

@Dangerous Extremist Sailor Moon 90s Anime was great for the filler, the main plot was worse in every way but all the filler greatness is why I have a higher regard for it over the Manga.

Characters are not always the appeal of stories. If a story has a strong or interesting narrative but not very interesting characters you can still enjoy it, obviously there's a limit

@@ascii_9727 Not for me, if none of the character interest me I drop it, no matter what else is going on.

100% agree on the skipping of filler arcs. Unless you are watching an anime when it airs, you shouldn't complain about filler. There are lists out there which tell you which episodes to skip. The only times fillers bother me is when they are mashed into episodes with canon content, so you can't just skip the whole stuff.

It’s also fine if criticize filler as it’s a part of the product. I think when critiquing a work, you need to be upfront that you skipped filler.

I hate it when an adaptation leaves an important arc out and just quickly tells you what happened when it becomes relevant, or better yet, leave something completely unexplained.

I'm so glad I got into manga, most of the time the manga will be vastly superior compared to its anime adaptation. I also hate all filler and do not tolerate it at all, if it exists I can't just pretend like it's not there, since it is part of that anime, while the manga doesn't have that extra dogshit in it.

What is funny with fillers is that I believe they can enhance stories but only Kyoani ever did it, but they basically made K-on an original anime so... yeah, filler that enhances an already great manga is nonexisting. At least to my limited reach of everything I've seen

I will always prefer anime over manga so I don't really mind most of the problems I think the main problem comes from the fact that too many anime get their ideas from manga and can't adapt them well I wish there were more original anime but I digress...
