I've been following Zeihan for a while, his demographics and geopolitics are on point. Especially when you look at the data supporting it. His economic and political insight is often...off...but you can't go completely with the data on those things. As with most people, take what he says and make your own conclusions.

Globalisation is accelerating and developing as other countries are now joining in and diversifying manufacturing locations. China is transitioning to higher tech especially robotics, AI and EV. Now exports more than 50% to other nations especially SE Asia as demand increases with growing wealth and populations here. Population decline is so slow with urbanisation still increasing. No shortage of workers in China for 10-20 years. His dismissal of India as an increasingly important economy is laughable. Just as his prediction of the collapse of Russian oil production was 2 years ago and Europe running out of energy. He is way too US centric and ignores most of the variables and transitions taking place as global trade evolves post covid. He also doesn’t acknowledge the problems of capital creation with debt to GDP ratios so high and rising.

The problem is that we are terrible at implementing technology in the real world because we are equally terrible at defining what we do now and what need to do in future in the corporate world. Most IT initiatives fail to deliver sufficient business value, take far too long, cost far too much and introduce far too much technology complexity.
