When it zooms in on their hands on the bass and guitars, it's them. The other scenes are just old ladies who clearly were willing to have a blast in a music video

This is from their EP The Most Hated, which was them embracing their reputation with some of the worst elitists who didn't think their earlier stuff was really up to snuff. This EP was where their sound started to incorporate more Hip hop influences. Their song Light was remixed with edm elements and released as Lit during this time too. Punkrock MBA has a good video on the history of polyphia if you want a deep dive on that. So this song is like the middle of their career. For an earlier song which is absolutely essential, you should check out Champagne, it has probably their catchiest riff ever.

the '808s' you're hearing ARE the bass guitar. 808 just became the catch-all name for any low notes produced with a certain sound quality. the 808 term itself comes from the drum machine that first popularized the sound quality back in the 80's. I hear so many fans of rap and hip hop call anything with that quality an 80 as if its a seperate instrument but really its just like a filter over the bass to give it its distinct sound. This is one of my favorite Polyphia songs. It’s so damn catchy. If you want another banger like this check out their song Crosty from the same album. one of their underrated songs in my opinion

If you put it on loop and play it a few times you will hear how the melody goes through the phases of partying from hyped to party, to mood swings to burning out at the end. Its subtle but its there. Brilliant. As for the break down, Tim usually plays the more complex parts while Scott plays the leads. As far as I know they don't use 808s Unless it's something none of the instruments can create, It's played by the band. The two Clays are amazing. If its a base line or drums you hear, its them. They are just that damn good.

When it cuts to their hands, you can see it's them with gloves on playing instruments, but when it cuts out to faces, these grandmas are hired actors, haha. I heard rumors that they were their actual grandmas, but I don't think that's true.
