From one rap loving polyphia fan to another, you really break down their music to a very deep level. For a self proclaimed radio listener you have some pretty deep intuitive understanding of how the songs are structured. Check out "i miss you" by Ichika Nito. He's one of the other prodigies bringing in a new fresh sound to the guitar world.

harmonics themselves aren't really advanced...it's the seamless fitting into already crazy parts that is a Polyphia Flex, cuz of how delicate and precise you must be to get a harmonic to resonate.

Loving the reactions! If you're keeping a list of things to react to and want some metalcore or other stuff, here's a list I highly recommend in no particular order: Lorna Shore - Pain Remains 1 & 2 (Heavy but sad, true masterpieces, part 3 comes out soon) Motionless in White - Masterpiece (it's a masterpiece) Motionless in White - Cyberhex (cool theme, even cooler breakdown) Motionless in White - Slaughterhouse (very heavy) Motionless in White - Thoughts and Prayers (heavier than masterpiece but not as heavy as Slaughterhouse) Bring Me the Horizon - Teardrops (and the rest of the post human album) Bring Me the Horizon - Ludens (and the rest of the post human album, also has one of my favorite breakdowns) Bring Me the Horizon - Parasite Eve (and the rest of the post human album) Bring Me the Horizon - Obey (pop influences and feature) Bring Me the Horizon - Kingslayer (feat a japanese metal band, it's an experience) Bring Me the Horizon - Can You Feel My Heart (you might have heard this already, it's a popular song) Bring Me the Horizon - 1x1 (idk if groovy is the right word but it's good) Falling In Reverse - I'm Not a Vampire (and I'm Not a Vampire Revamped, completely different songs but same lyrics, listen to the old one first) Falling in Reverse - Voices in my Head (gives a good idea of Falling in Reverse's recent songs) Architects - Doomsday (great old Architects song) Architects - Royal Beggars (great old Architects song) Beartooth - In Between (great song, and their most popular) Polyphia - Their whole New Levels New Devils album and The Most Hated Album There's definitely a lot that I forgot to put but all of these are incredible songs imo. Also you might entertain the idea of making a Discord if you want to.

Nice reaction as always! The song is a masterpiece of composition and arrangement. It took them a year to write it, you've seen on twitch what Tim can come up with in half an hour (Playing god riff), so that's saying something. By the way you asked on twitch if the intro is played on piano - it's a keyboard plugin, omnisphere.

If you want to listen to Polyphia, but with metal vocals... listen to Unprocessed - Abandoned, they also have a track called "Real" which actually features the Polyphia guys and it's a lot more pop sounding... but I would recommend their songs, either... "Abandoned", "Haven", or "Fear" before listening to the song with the Polyphia guys. another band that's sort of in the realm of stuff like... Animals as Leaders... but not quite... then check out the band Monuments... they've had a few vocalist switches... but DAMN the guitarists are insane... unfortunately one of their guitarists "Olly Steele" left last year... however he also has some original instrumental songs... I'd highly recommend checking out "Monuments - Animus" or "Olly Steele - Balance". Olly Steele - Balance is probably the best instrumental song I've ever heard... it just speaks to me on a different level... the melodies... the lead playing... the rhythms... just... everything about it makes me day dream... and it brings me inspiration. don't get me wrong I love Polyphia instrumentals... but... That Balance track... just takes me on a different kind of journey.

Plucking a bass string gives you “bum” , slapping a bass string gives you “BWUAM” that’s the best way i can explain slapping😂 but he’s it’s a general bass thing , it’s a very common technique , it’s just REALLY hard to master
@jaroslavsvaha60652 жыл бұрын
Scott is an excellent guitarist, but the reason Tim is so highly regarded is a bit more technical in nature. It's mainly his use of natural harmonics and his finesse. Natural harmonics are when you only lightly touch the string in a specific place, which mutes the main frequency and it sounds like a higher and softer note. They are reasonably difficult, most guitarists can learn to do them rather quickly, but what Tim does is on another level. He can incorporate natural harmonics into very fast progressions and chords. When you just think about it, you have to contort your fingers into some convoluted jazz chord shape very quickly, and then you also have to press fully with some fingers, and press very lightly with other fingers. It boggles the mind. And when you listen to Tim unplugged, his playing is incredibly clean, almost robotic.

I commented on an earlier video recommending tricot, chon, and ttng, but I'd also like to recommend Covet. Yvette Young leads that band is an incredible guitarist. @@HawaiianMusicReacts Let's go! Chon is one of the best math rock bands in the game alongside tricot, covet, and ttng. Fair warning, these kind of bands will sound off at first not just because they're technical but because they're math rock bands. Math rock is defined by weird time signatures but there is always a controlled chaos to the music. Polyphia is controlled chaos, but because they're so technical, their music is actually all written in 4/4, the conventional time signature used for most music in general. That being said tho, since you like polyphia so much, you'll probably like these bands too.

Love the reaction, you seem enthusiastic about learning more about different types of music and I'm here for it! On that note, I noticed you using the word "tempo" incorrectly a few times. Tempo refers to the speed of the track or the beats per minute (BPM), and this song stays at a consistent bpm the whole time. I do understand how certain parts like the drums playing more densely can make the song feel like it's speeding up though. Just something to think about as you develop your ability to describe what you're hearing from these more instrument-based songs :-)
@HawaiianMusicReacts2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! what word would i use to describe the change in rhythm then?
@jjhenn452 жыл бұрын
@@HawaiianMusicReacts I suppose you could say that the drums "pick up" or you could describe the energy of the drums being more lively, I'm not sure if there's a succinct way to describe it in one word tbh! I also don't think it's wrong to describe the drums as being "faster", as that's how it sounds when the drummer plays more notes per bar. Using "tempo" is wrong though because that would indicate a change in the entire song's bpm
@ThaBeatConductor2 жыл бұрын
@@HawaiianMusicReacts In that specific spot where the drums pick up for like, a half measure, there really isn't any good way to describe it without being very technical. The drum feel goes to double time for about a half measure, but that's not really a thing. If you understand notation, the drums are playing lots of 16th notes and 16th note triplets, just not constantly so there is a start and stop sensation constantly going on with the drums except in the one specific spot where it's a half measure of 16th note triplets. Triplets are when you put 3 notes in the space of what would be normally 2 notes. Double time is when you play double the tempo of the song, half time is when you play half tempo. The most common example of half time is any sort of breakdown section of a song. Those are almost always in half time.
@ThaBeatConductor2 жыл бұрын
@@jjhenn45 Also, there is different subdivisions of notes, so one can stay playing at the same tempo, but the amount of notes played increasing greatly. Whole notes are held for a count of 4. Half notes are a count of 2. Quarter notes are 1. Eighth notes are 1/2. Sixteenth notes are 1/4. There is also thirty-second notes and sixty-fourth notes but those aren't very common. So one bar of 4 beats would contain 1 whole note, or 2 half notes, or 4 quarter notes, or 8 eighth notes and so on. I hope this makes sense. xD
