It's interesting because I have panic attacks and physically this did feel a bit similar, except without the mental anguish. I wouldn't reccomend for a newbie (I've been doing pranayama and ocean breathing before for a few years) but I like how this gives a little boost afterwards.

Glad you found it useful. If done gently, it is OK for a newbie as well.

in which order would you recommend doing the following: Nadi Sanchalana Nadi Shodana Anulom Vilom Bhastrika Surya Bhed Chandra bhed Kumbhak with maha band [breathing in locking, holding, letting go, then repeating]
@SubhashMittal4 жыл бұрын
I like to start with the more forceful and aggressive techniques like kapalabhati and bhastrika and end the practice with the balancing practice of Nadi Shodhana. I don't differentiate between Nadi Shodhana and Anulom Vilom. In the middle you can add other practices as per your convenience.

Is it any connection with Viprida swasa kriya in Shambhavi Maha Mudra of Isha foundation's Inner Engineering of Sadhguru,which I practice regularly. But I feel very much easier and apt practice nadi sanchalana to opt in day today life Thank you Guruji. Pranamam❤.

Hello Ajit, I am glad that you find the Nadi Sanchalan practice easy and helpful. However, since I am not familiar with the Shambhavi Maha Mudra of Isha foundation, I am not able to answer your question as to whether or not there is a connection between the two.

Thank you for your video. You said that while doing this pranayama to use the upper chest & not to engage the abdominal breath. I have been doing abdominal breathing very naturally for decades, so I find it difficult to engage the upper chest. When I focus on the upper chest I can get it to move, but it still feels like the abdomen is also moving. So it seems to be a combination of the upper chest & the abdomen. I would appreciate your suggestions. Namaste.
@SubhashMittal5 жыл бұрын
Start out by becoming aware of your natural breath. Just observe the subtle chest movement. Then slowly increase the breathing to about 30 breaths per minute and continue to observe the chest movement. Consciously try not to move the belly. Over a period of a few days, gradually increase the breathing speed while maintaining the same awareness. Hopefully this should help.

I have only heard the term viparita shwasa as being part of a practice done in the Isha yoga system. I am not familiar with it.

Is fluttering breath and nadi sanchalana same
@SubhashMittal4 жыл бұрын
Hello Krish, I am not very familiar with the flutter breath. I understand it is a part of the practices taught by the Isha foundation. If you are familiar with it, you are perhaps the best judge as to whether these two are similar.

@@SubhashMittal nadi sanchalana isabout very rapid breathing and breathing should be on the surface of the nose. The breath shouldn't go inside and there is a perfect posture of hand and you are just moving it. I don't mean to demean you I just want to say "it should be taught if you have complete knowledge about it" and it should be learned from a guru who experientially knows it and the science behind it. I'm not a guru but i'm a student and i know there are many subtle aspect to it as I can experience those aspects. There are many subtle aspects to it and it should be taught will full awareness. As doing it wrong can damage the system in a big way.

@@Pradeepkumar-fw9nk Hello Pradeep, thanks for your response. I learned this practice about 15 years ago from a yoga guru who was visiting from India. The way I have shown is the same as he taught us. Please share with me any source/resource that I can use to get the most accurate information. Different gurus are known to approach the same technique in their own different ways. I am always looking for an authentic source particularly in any ancient text on yoga. As you may know Nadi Sanchalana is NOT to be found in Hatha Yoga Pradipika or the Gherand Samhita, two of the most commonly referenced texts for all asana and pranayama practices. I look forward to hearing back from you with some more guidance.

@@Pradeepkumar-fw9nk Dear Pradeep, thanks for the information related to the Isha foundation activities. I am familiar with their work. I would truly appreciate if you could provide some resources specifically for the Nadi Sanchalana practice that we have been discussing. Any youtube vidoes, other documents etc. that describe the practice? That way I can find out what modifications I should make to my own practice.
