This song is a beautiful core memory of my youth. Every time I hear it, I'm reminded of beautiful summer evenings at home with fireflies darting about in the dusk. Just a warm, homey memory. Dash Crofts is still alive at 86. Jim Seals passed away in 2022 at 79.

"jasmine in my mind" seems to be an allusion to a relaxation technique. Jasmine is a flower that thrives in warmer climates, and its fragrance is said to soothe frazzled nerves.
@charliemorris19427 күн бұрын
You are right, however I think they were referring to the actual scent of the classic summer's flower's scent flowing in the breeze. Jasmine and Honeysuckle both sttaples of Summer in The South.
@terri24947 күн бұрын
@@charliemorris1942 Exactly. If someone has never experienced the heady aroma of jasmine on a warm summer evening they have missed out. I used to love encountering it on an evening walk, especially when I wasn’t expecting it. That’s a foretaste of heaven, for sure.

My man. You are now beyond a “rapper”. You are traversing genres and picking up details few ever do. And you are taking your audience along for the ride. The influence of any song has butterfly effects upon every song after it. In a way, you are mapping the history of music. Kudos.

Jasmine is my personal favorite non-medicinal essential oil to use strictly as a perfume or air freshener without all the chemicals that give me allergic reactions. I get why people feel the need to cover up body odors at times. But many synthetic perfumes are horrible, especially when you have to be in close proximity to people using them, not to mention their use in cleaning products. Ugggh!

Again i just do enjoy your podcast, as it takes me back, and to see the honest joy and appreciation of you, falling in love with the music we grew up with, so the times we grew up in, with its distinct flavour, , is sooo heartwarming. Fuh real🙏🏼❤️💯 And other poddys like you covering same time/type genre. Have you ever just sat and just listened back to back of some, in same type genre (so eg Seals & Croft, Carpenters, The Hollies etc) and feel the vibe...? I think it may well make you really get a feel of the vibe as was back then Of why Woodstock for instance, emerged, and the like. And as the progression from 50s morphed into the 60s then the 70s etc how it was and so why. Life was not perfect to be sure, but damn there was a special kind of authentic freedom in the air that was undeniable - the freedom to express and just be... Then the 80s started coming in and then it was "juicy" 😁 as how I'd put it but slowly you began to see the change. Child of the latish 60s into very early 70s growing up and what I'd always tell my niece etc and younger folk is "It felt like Magic"🙏🏼 Truly. The music, the movies, the comic books.. 😁 Damn. 😁😉 To effect that, when Black Panther the movie came out, and there was so much hoopla, I genuinely was a tad confused. But my niece explained 😁 I just kinda unwittingly auto-assumed it was known of. Those comics were all over our house and so i knew of The Black Panther from way back when. Amazing huh, how our familiars just seem to be real and present all the time, in our hearts; to effect, we don't really, or rather, aren't ever too conscious at times, of the changing times.🙏🏼😁 But ah, the privilege of having been around at such a true generational crossroads. So truly warms the heart to see them being SO appreciated again. Thank you man. Hope you find much more to enjoy....🙏🏼

Thank you for this. I've lived through the 60's twice now and I agree that we had some of the most amazing music modern people have *never* heard before. :) That's okay though, I missed out on a lot of the 90's and 00'S because of work and kids and home maintenance and.... I'm sure there's songs that I would have like to have had the time to hear. :)

Remember this sweet summer tune, thinking it came out in the summer, he lives it a warm climate where the Jasmine is in bloom (it’s a tree or a bush, small white flowers with an intense fragrance). We had a jasmine bush off the kitchen, and in the summer in Florida its smell was so intense wafting through the house, especially when there was a summer breeze. Thanks B.P.👍💕

The reason why music was so rich in the 1970s was that access to different genres became easier to do with improving media and distribution methods. Artists from different labels, different styles could finally adapt and bring together different styles into the writing and performances. There was no talk about "cultural appropriation" or "license infringement" .. it was about the music, and the storytelling in the music connected people in ways we can only dream about today.
