Castles spoke to me on a day when I was in an abstract state of mind.... aka my “dark place.” I soon shared it with my 70 year old mother who was feeling alone and sad. She went to bible study that weekend and shared it with about a dozen other 55+ men/women, several of whom then felt compelled to share the castles vid with various family members that week. That’s how unity and love is meant to spread, and I’m thankful for the guy who started this butterfly affect.💚🦋 ☺️

@@KnoxHill, I know you're a rapper, husband & father (or at least a partner, if not a legal husband), but here's a quick look at a song such as this from a different perspective: I was an ER nurse for 20 years. There is a high level of burnout in that job & many other jobs like it such as EMS, forensics & many of the jobs in law enforcement. The only way to keep your sanity is to build a wall between your emotions & the things you deal with daily. As a result, that wall often cuts off empathy & sometimes even your humanity...you become cynical, or even worse, apathetic. Songs like this one...and many more that I can't name at the moment (I just got off work & my brain is deflated), help those of us who are in these specific positions clear our vision & keep us balanced. At least, it does for me. It also explains why so many of the downtrodden lash out upon first contact...they EXPECT to be judged outright. Easier for me not to do that because of what & where I come from but I've seen it from so many of my co-workers. Anyway, just wanted to share. Not everyone sees these songs the way we do.

Great reaction! I just discovered Tom and he's already one of my favorite artists. I'm from a metal/rock background. Yes, there are technically good singers in those genres. But it's honestly not that important how "textbook good" you are. You need a nice voice and first and foremost you must be able to transport feelings with your visits. Therefore I like Toms singing and could care less about his singing technics abilities or range. Greetings from Germany!

This is a great video too just emotions n people, it's not overproduced n distracting visuals n the black and white seems to emphasize pure emotion, honestly makes me cry it's legendary. The music from Red Lights in the background sounds hot for real. Rappers come a dozen at a time, like clones, emcees are special and amazing to witness. Tom has these skills to make timeless music n I just hope all the money and fame don't go to his head n he don't becomes like Lil Wayne it's to much. Tom's video Ashes was spectacular, but what Tom's wearing it's a bit much n takes away from the rest of visually stunning video n maybe that was his goal, just saying. All the vignettes were on fact. Tom did talk to a lot of these people. Tom and Nova used to live in some rough areas of L.A. when him and Nova had nothing to their name. I do know that Tom was at one time homeless and if only by Brandon Hart (another rapper) that he had a couch to sleep on.

I liked how, every single story that he told, was of a person that most would judge harshly. [Example. A Bum asking for money to support his or her drug addiction. And while most would probably judge that person, they might not if they truly knew what led to the addiction in the first place.] It forces you to think about what might have caused that person to fall into their own personal hell. After all, it's not like most people just decided one day that they Want to be a drug addict or a penniless Bum. Chances are that there was a trauma that they were unable to recover from. Maybe it was a bad choice or action that they couldn't take back, maybe life threw a wrench at them that destroyed something or someone precious to them. Who knows unless you bother to take the time to find out. Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to judge others and instead take a moment to try and understand or even help.
