Dry bar has some of the best comics imo. It's hard to find good comedy without it just being vulgar shock value. Not that that can't be funny too, but it takes real talent to make me laugh while keeping it clean

I've never heard anyone clap at a comedy show for academic achievements unless they were told to, though. Not saying it hasn't happened, but I don't think it's normal. The audience seems to clap for 2 reasons: something made them laugh hard, or they were told to give someone a hand. It doesn't detract from his achievements that an audience at a comedy show waits for the punchline instead of clapping.

I dated a guy back in the late seventies who said that we only saw two blacks a year where we lived .... and they were on TV. It's a tiny bit more diversified than that now, but when I'm in a tiny Town and I see a black person that I KNOW was not born and raised there, if I get the chance I ask them how they got here, what made them move to this tiny Town? I find their stories interesting. I see skin color the same way I see different nationalities. And the same way I see brown hair and blue eyes. I noticed color but it not because I don't want somebody to be there. I just noticed people's differences I would notice if somebody was Asian also .. big deal

Maybe because the stuff he said about 2 chainz wasn't true as he never graduated college, and they chose to use the title they did which only further highlights that particular joke, I don't know. He is funny comedian though. I read an old wiki entry about him that said this "Tity Boi/2 chainz played basketball at Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. 2 Chainz then transferred to Harvard where he graduated in two years with a 4.0 gpa, Majoring in Computer Science and Software engineering. He graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors. Impressed by his talent, Bill Gates recruited him as project manager for the developing of a new Windows software. The following year, Windows XP was released and revitalize an ailing company in Microsoft. He got a job at apple because Microsoft sucks. Unsatisfied with his working environment at Microsoft, he then joined Apple as co-developer in its Mobile phone project code named "Artemis" which was soon to be know as the Iphone. Steve Jobs in his 2011 biography describes the experience as "Invigorating! It was like Einstein discovering the formula or Newton discovering gravity. He is an absolute genius". Bored with developing software, 2 Chainz quit apple after the release of the Ipad, his final project with the company. He returned to rap with the playaz circle". Maybe the comedian does his research on wiki and that's what they don't like (even though we are all guilty of it sometimes, lol).

Culture shock was my guess. The type of jokes he was telling they didn't expect from him. I'm black and have a very similar sense of humor; there's a lot of 'I'm not a nigga, I'm a black man' in the set, and Americans are more used to the 'niggas' than black men right now in time. Just part of it. I could be wrong.

@@dlgarner Black people are not a monolith. Non-black folks know that. As a black woman with diverse taste in comedy (from intense story tellers like Ali Siddiq and Josh Johnson to quick wit like Kev Fredericks), I would say that his bombing has more to do with his reliance on derogatory stereotypes. He just didn't make folks laugh enough to be on stage that long.

I don't think he bombed, I think the audience enjoyed the set, just not the kind of jokes you laugh super hard at.

If you grew up in rural areas as a black person then you get that joke. That’s what people tell you and it’s offensive back then. If you grew up around tons of your own race then that joke would offend you now.

I'm a KY native, and moved back after years away. Racism is a problem everywhere. As the mother of a biracial child, my son and I have experienced more Racism (of the aggressive kind) in other states. A knowledgeable person wouldn't resort to hurtful stereotypes for a cheap laugh.

Actually, the peregrine falcon can FALL at more than 200mph. It has just evolved/developed the profile to present the least air resistance. So the PF's terminal velocity is the highest of any creature.
