Martin did leave Opeth about 15 years ago I believe but all the albums considered the classics of Opeth were him up until Ghost Reveries. I deeply love system but this man played on some of the most diverse songs ever recorded, Opeth can have blues, jazz, 70s classic, thrash, death, black, groove, folk and classical music in their masterpieces. The amount of rhythms in one song alone is crazy, across several prog metal albums of this band is just ludicrous. He must be considered the greatest drummer who no one has heard of.

I imagine this song would cause a lot of people to stop it early on, if they aren't into metal that is. But I imagine most people who you force to listen from beginning to end will understand Opeth's genius afterwards. It's a musical tour de force and few people are as talented or creative enough to make music like this.

Since the title is so similar, id recommend "throes of perdition" by trivium. You've listened to them before but you listened to a demo version of a song they re-did a few years later (where they did it better). The recording you heard would've been them in their early 20s and the frontman at about 17. Throes of perdition is instead from 5 or so years later and it's off of what many consider to be their best album. It's a great listen and is greatly evolved from what you got to hear.

My Dying Bride - The Dreadful Hours. One can not scape the atmosphere which this song creates... Very dark & beautiful.!! This song is an old song and most of the teenagers don't know it...It would be awesome if you could react to it.!! Thank You.!!

If you guys are doing Opeth you need to do either Master's Apprentice or the Drapery Falls. The best of prog and metal in one.
