That’s kinda the whole point ,drill music in itself is supposed to come from a place of struggle,anger,poverty.Lil mabus background does not lend to that ,and makes it all just a corny game of dress up .The whole art ,if you’d call it that ,of drill ,is that it’s music that comes from /describes life in the hood,and mabu does not have any meaningful connections to that life .

Another reason is cuz they're black and unfortunately (or fortunately) blacks are associated with gangster/rap/hiphop image so their skin color gives them the appearance of credibility. unlike the ones mentioned in the video. for example, mabu is white and 6ix9ine could probably pass for white if you blur him in your mind a bit.

I related SO HARD with Mabu, but I guess it was his image 😭 I was in the Gifted Program in high-school, I even skipped Grade 11 and took Grade 12 classes for 2 years instead. I used my gifted genius to... well move WEIGHT 😂 I was the silent gangster, as no one could ever suspect it from my polished nerdy little white girl image. I would keep books for the top shottas, calculated profit margins, track market value, I ran that shit like a corporation. I also would be able to hide most of the bad stuff in my locker, no one had a clue because they really just saw me as the weird little smart girl. It was a DANGEROUS combination though, the efficiency in which we started moving stuff was out of hand. I started partying HARD in grade 12 though which put me on a path to get sober and I had to cut all ties with that life. It was a wild time, and I'm glad I could leave that scene in such a amicable way, with no real consequences that I would have inevitably face, we were making TOO much money, it was bound to catch some attention. So FUCK mabu, thought I had another lil nerd thug to relate too haha
