Hello Jeff, I really enjoyed this tractor video. It was amazing to see inside the lower end of the engine. That engine is in incredible condition! I really like the way it sounded when it fired up and when it was shutting down after you turned off the fuel at the end. Another thing I must mention is the brake steering system and how they connected it to the steering wheel. That was ingenious!!!! That was quite a turn you made with it and liked the dust you created as it turned 😂. The photos at the end were beautiful! Thank you for putting this video together. Your friend , Rob.

I had a T-20 many years ago, it had steering clutches, one for each track, if you pulled both lateral controls it would stop, it was a good early system that allowed for very precise control, it would have had the same engine and transmission as yours, it ran amazingly well and I loved the sound of the engine… thanks for the memories.

The interior view of the engine from the crankshaft access was particularly nice. Unlike many long-idle engines from less-arid climates, there was no evidence of water seeping into the engine, or even any rust that I could see. It almost looked new. Nice work Jeff!! Love to see "old iron" running again... As inefficient and ungainly as this was to run, I'm sure back when it was newly purchased, and for many years after, it was a huge labor saving machine to the farmer that purchased it. What's most interesting to me is that the conversion retained the steering wheel, using the mechanism to activate/control a track brake for each drive wheel to control steering the machine. Funny how modern tracked machines have gone back to steering wheels as opposed to brake levers/differential steering like they've been using for many years. But go figure... A tracked machine from the 1930's with a steering wheel... Cool as hell. Again, great work! Glad to see this machine running again.

Hello Jeff, How does the steering work i see a steering wheel in stead off steering sticks
@jeffs_garageАй бұрын
Hello! Since this tractor originally had steel wheels with conventional steering, it does still use a steering wheel, but in a different manner. When the track conversion was installed, they use some of the steering linkage to control band style steering brakes on each of the rear drive wheels. To turn it, you would turn the steering wheel which direction you would want to turn and it would apply breaking that side drive wheel, which would then cause it to steer. It actually works quite nice compared to a conventional crawler with two clutch pedals and brake levers. Great question!

Yes it has coolant in it but it didn’t have a fan belt in this video. It took me a year to find the correct belt for it but I recently got it and fired it slip a couple days ago, stays cool now! Yes, you are correct in this video It did not have a fan belt. I just recently got a fan belt for it and fired it up a couple of days ago, now it is ready to go to a tractor show!
