Rare Bitter Green Sunbeam Rapier H120 Rescue. Will it run? Will it even roll? i know it rocks......

Sat in a garage opposite a few other sixties and seventies rootes cars, had been here since late 1980's. Pulled out to give it a chance at a second life, steering lock stuck on, please forgive the camera work, trying to do the job first and film it second!

Remember seeing plenty in scrapyards in early 80s very rare now .😊 most 70s cars were real rotters at 10years old or even scrapped. 😢

A rare find, definitely a reshell, too far gone, those front indicators, never seen that before, surely must have been done by the previous owner but not a bad little modification, would be interesting to see how it was done, shame he didn't give the same attention to the sills. I spied I think two more, a Sceptre and another Arrow car, what's happening with those

What a great shame the shell is so soft. The car is otherwise very complete - bitter green is a terrific colour. Would this have been a Linwood built example?

I own a 69 Sunbeam Alpine coupe here in the US with 5K miles on it but I don't think the Rapier/Alpine was ever built at Linwood.

@@rumcove07 Since my post I've checked. From 1967 til 69 they were built at Ryton in the West midlands and then from 1969 up until production ended in 1976 they were built at the Linwood plant just outside Glasgow.

​@@byronmills5952yes Ryton was being utilized for Avenger production from.june 1969. Rootes had to have sufficient stock for the late 69 early 70 launch date! Ryton was home to the Avenger till August '76 when production was transferred to Linwood so (Chrysler UK ) could assembly Alpine( Simca based) so cars needn't be imported from France. Arrow range; ( Hunters mostly) were now built in Southern Ireland till 1979 where from 1977 till 79 was known as the Chrysler Hunter. The Chrysler Sunbeam was also built at Linwood 1977 untill May1981 when the factory was shut for good .

​@@rumcove07My father had a Sunbeam Rapier like the one in the video in the mid 70s. Navy blue with a white roof. Interested to hear of your American car. I have never re-watched and paused the film to check - but am sure I saw a Sunbeam Rapier TWICE in the film Heat - once near the start when Waingro gets in the wrecker truck, and once in the 'backyard' of the low-level crim/snitch.

Thanks for that comment, really helpful, you can see its an amatuer video, im recording it while doing the job, the job is more important then the filming. if you dont like it jog the fuck on. while youre at it lay open every aspect of your life for everyone else to criticise
