Just my opinion, the Andy Griffith Show is one of the greatest shows of all times. That is of course until Barney left and it went to color. Those old black and white seasons will never ever be topped.

@Logia SD Well yeah, it happened at the same time basically. Other than the few episodes Barney stared in, by then it didn’t feel the same though.

Back when Color TV first came out it was like being in a fantasy. We were kids and dad just bought a new set with tax refund. The colors were unreal (literally) now they are much more natural but it was really neat, However, I agree the old Black & Whites were great and now i prefer the Andy Griffith show in Black & White. Somehow seems more true to those times and makes it feel older and back to a time when things were slower and values were more pure.

For those who don't know, this episode of "Nashville Now" first aired September 18th, 1991 on TNN.
@bigreed673 жыл бұрын
This may have been filmed as part of a Griffith show reunion that they put on at the Opryland theme park around that time. Nashville Now was filmed at the park.

We took a turbine airplane out to Nashville for heavy maintenance back in the late 80s to Nashville Jet Centers . When we arrived their manager of the facility gave us tickets to Nashville Now for 2 nights anytime in the 2 weeks we were scheduled to be there . Man oh man did that turn out so perfect for us.We went 1 night the 1st week and luck had us to see " The Gambler " - Kenny Rogers . Then the 2nd week we used the second pair of tickets to see "Dolly Parton " .I'm not a great big fan of her singing but absolutely Love her and all because of how she talks and tells stories about even her Personal life , in other words she is funny as can be.Pulls no punches nor does she bite her tongue .A real hoot .Everyone says i like her because of her big uns ( Boobs ) .Well i hate to tell you this , i do like em.Hell i ain't dead. I wish Nashville Now was on still . I would have Loved to have been part of that audience . When they did the Commercial breaks they would at times mingle with the audiences.They did with us but Kenny Rogers couldn't get past the 1st 3 to 4 rows because the women Loved him and too much then . I would have Loved to have been there the night they did this show.Not only were the shows live but recorded also . I used to just assumed all singers sounded good as they did and it was because of better production and equipment .NOT what you heard thru your tv and stereo at home , well , it sounds a lot better there .Even when they cut off the mic's on stage.Mr Rogers prior to the show always liked to come out and do some fine tuning with the back up singers.( at least when i was there and when he came to our fair city also ) Sorry i got off of the subject .I want to say though that Thelma was still very pretty . I could easily have fell in Love with her. You look at all these characters though and you'll notice what i did about them.They all look really really good.Wasn't Otis a hoot and Goober who i watched play a bad guy role in Gunsmoke just this morning and it was hard to watch. . Thanks for posting all of these videos.It takes a lot to do it so many parts.

Yes..Ralph Emery is a staple in Nashville for sure. I think he used to do radio back in the day and that is how he got that gig. They say people reach their level of incompetency and ol' Ralph has done just that. And your right the the whole pony act was so wrong but that is typical grand ol' opry style of cornball comedy at its worst. Poor Don he was embarassed I think and Ralph! Sorry dude! Its like you just woke up from a nap and your trying to be engaging half asleep.

@mcfrdmn: My guess is Andy's association with Matlock perhaps prevented him from participating in a lot of the reunions that took place in the late '80s and early '90s. He hosted a reunion program for CBS in 1993 called "The Andy Griffith Show Reunion" and has appeared in other Mayberry-related reunions, too, but not as many as the large supporting cast.

Even though this was made in 91 I find it sort of offensive that they get these Andy Griffith actors to act like show ponies. It is a little bit disrespectful to these classic actors. Shame on this show Nashville Now. No wonder the main cast of the show didn't participate in this charade.

I know Emery has been around forever and has done good work but he fumbled the ball here for some reason.
