I decided to count how many trucks you recorded responding, so here are the numbers. A total of 52 trucks responded. Those 52 trucks included... 26 brush trucks 14 support vehicles (pickup trucks, battalion cheifs, command units, etc.) 6 engines 2 tanker trucks 3 dozer units 1 police car

I counted 51 unless you included the civilian vehicle following the CA-OES task force. It had lights but no markings. Different departments/units that I noticed in order of appearance are: Marin County Fire Department (MRN E1563, E1560, E1566, E1565, E1564), South Santa Clara County Fire Department SCC E68), Santa Clara County Sheriff, MRN B1516, CalFire (CDF E1691), CalFire Santa Clara Unit (SCU E1663), CDF 1470, Milpitas Fire Department (MFD BC), CalFire Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit (NEU E2383, E2362), CDF E1664, SCC E67, NEU 2364, CDF Dozer 1741, CDF U1731, CDF B2317, CDF E2372, Santa Clara County Fire Department (CNT U574), Morgan Hill Fire Department (MRG B1607), San Jose Fire Department(SJS E24, E624, E18, WT18 ), (CNT E373, E382, E374), SCC E368, (jet(s) heard at 7:51 possibly CDF S-2 Vikings out of Hollister. Could also be normal commercial traffic on approach to SJC since this is the area where they are stepped down and begin to follow highway 101 right to the airport), (CDF Dozer 1645, U1645, U1451, Dozer 1442(just the hauler), Fire Associates Santa Clara Valley fire support unit 3, (Helicopter heard at 8:41 possibly the CDF Huey from the Alma Helitack Base), (CDF U1477, E1665), CalFire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit (LNU E1453), (CDF E1458, E1769), (SCC E69, WT68), Unknown Hayward unit, California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (CA-OES E8235, E8232, E8233, E823, E8234), unknown CDF(?) unit, unknown Contra Costa County Fire Protection District utility truck. Units listed as generic CDF didn't have any markings that I saw that assigned them to any specific unit(i.e. SCU, LNU, etc.) so they might not all be attributed correctly, though the specific unit number (i.e. E2372) is correct.

It's the law in every US state that you have to yield to emergency vehicles. The manner in which you are required to do so varies a bit depending on the type of road and from state to state. But only the dumbest of our assholiest drivers won't try to (safely and predictably) get out of the way. After all, next time they could be on the way to save your own home...

@wannabetowasabe4 жыл бұрын
@scottdd2 Here is the long version: the "California Governor's Office of Emergency Services." This is a very active and well run organization, likely the best in the country. However, before swelling up with pride, Californians, realize that necessity if the mother of invention, i.e. the agency gets more practice than almost any other agency of its type. About the only events it doesn't see is hurricanes and large, destructive tornadoes. Mud slides, wildland fires, earthquakes, flooding, riots, major structure fires, seaport fires, refinery accidents, broken pipelines (oil and gas) tsunami potential, windstorms, avalanches, major snowfall, heat waves, dam failures, and more I've probably forgotten are all on its list to prepare for.

As a small town volunteer Canadian firefighter living on the prairies i don’t know a whole lot about California never mind wildfire season. But where are all the trucks coming from? It seemed that several of the engines were in strike team formation. These were either strike teams that had been pre-positioned due to elevated fire risk in that area or they were immediate need strike teams requested from neighboring units. Cal Fire ( California's wildfire protection agency) is made up of 21 geographical units. Units will send strike teams ( 5 engines of the same type) to other units to help out when they require additional help extinguishing wild fires.

Their crews run type 1 + type 6 cross staffed I believe, but considering how many veg fires they respond to I'm surprised they don't run any type 3s.
@robsalisbury25504 жыл бұрын

San jose already has san clara county and cal fire with the type 3 engines. More would be better but i think in politcs thats how they look at it. Marin is a contract county with cal fire so when they’re engines go out, their stations get covered by other cal fire engines from the north

Whats weird is that in my little town of Alaska, all of the stoplights have the Emergency Vehicle Preemption tech installed. The stoplights will change the signal to green for the emergency vehicle. At the same time, the system turns red for other drivers. You would think most other places would have that, especially for larger areas like California.

Looks like it was placed in that position intentionally. It must have been deployed off the truck when they got the call to this fire and didn't take the time to stow it normally. In other videos, you'll see pre-connects just draped over hooks on the back of trucks for rapid pickup so they can move to another location

For wildland response its common to have your hose hang out like that for wui. Wildland urban interface. Its a type 1 engine so they can’t access in rough terrain and off road like the type 3 engines so these guys are usually tasked to protect homes. To save time they can pull that hose off and deploy it and then rack it in that same horshoe load so they can go to the next house and protect it.
