Most Led Zeppelin vinyl collectors own most or all of their albums on vinyl. Many Zeppelin fans own some solo records from Robert Plant & Jimmy Page, but not many have the two LPs from when they combined forces. In this video I cover the two Page/Plant rare vinyl albums that were released back in the 90s.

Hi. I'm TravisD and I'm a Zep addict. My addiction was just beginning to get very serious when the Unledded/unplugged show and album was released (I'm a year or so into my 4th decade). I loved it. Bought the Cd, VHS and later a concert ticket. That was great, too. Would've been better w/o the constant, fanatical cheering and harsh arena acoustics. I enjoyed Walking Into Clarksdale to a lesser degree, but still liked it. I learned to love it. There is, however, 1 maybe 2 tracks I could live w/o. Attended 2 "Clarksdale" concerts in summer and fall 98, MN and AZ, respectively. For a few reasons I enjoyed these shows more. The touring band was stripped down to 4 (page, plant, jones, lee) as opposed to the larger band w/ Egyptian orchestra that was present for the Unledded tour. That and the more chill crowd made it less tiring on the ears. IMO, both are great for different reasons. Unledded has more appeal for both diehard and casual fan alike. For the all but Zep fiends and Steve Albini/ Studio Recording-a-philes "Clarksdale" would probably be forgettable. 4/5 and 3.5/5, respectively.

Wow, thanks for the great comment. I shot this video a while back so I can't remember if I mentioned it but I got to see them on both tours as well. I would agree with you that I probably liked that second tour better overall.

I really enjoyed both of those albums. I had them on cd when they first came out. The whole reason I bought the unplugged cd was for the long version of Kashmir. I personally like that version better then the original. Another great video man!

Thanks! And yeah I'm the same way with Kashmir. I remember that version being very divisive when it was released but I loved it.

I'm definitely a bigger fan of No Quarter than Walking Into Clarksdale, but there's some really great songs on WIC. I'd love to see both of them get reissued.

I like them both a great deal. I wasn't complaining about No Quarter at all but I rmemeber a lot of people wanting no material. Then they made the new material and no one paid attention. Lose/lose for them IMO

Very cool! I've never listened to those albums, not for any particular reason mind you, I just never got round to them. I'm intrigued about the Zeppelin efforts on No Quarter, so will get round to tuning in on that. I had a look on Discogs and the UK pressing of No Quarter has never been sold, with the records that are on sale all fetching pricey sums! Mental that despite how generic the presentation of 90's records were, for the most part, they're all really expensive!

I know I mentioned it in the video, but go find the version of Kashmir from No Quarter and start there. Like I said, I love that version but most people want to fight me over it lol

Great video about some forgotten gems. I fully agree with your comments on the labels. I prefer the record company logos as it was done back in the day. Wondering now what kind of prices these two releases fetch on Discogs.

Last time I looked, they were both going for around $100 but they were rising.

I really enjoy both of these albums they have great music that as you said, gets overlooked for various reasons. Some of the highlights for me from No Quarter are Gallows Pole, Kashmir the absolutely beautiful live version of Since I've Been Loving You. The Walking Into Clarksdale title track is my favorite from that album. I just love the groove and swagger of it. I think some of the feelings I have for these albums may also stem from the fact that I was also able to attend all 3 tours by Page & Plant. As well as Plant's Fate of Nations tour before that; another great and underrated album. Great video, thanks.

Thanks for watching and the comment. I think I'm the same way in that I might like the albums more because I saw them live a few times. I totally agree on that version of Since I've Been Loving You. At times, I prefer the No Quarter version of Kashmir to the original too.

3 tours by Page and Plant? Did they do a second tour for one of them?
@chriselliott871
@chriselliott871 Жыл бұрын
@@chraffis The 1st one was basically the No Quarter line up, the 2nd was a smaller band but still had some of the No Quarter band members & the 3rd one was The walking Into Clarksdale tour.

I also love good old labels. Custom labels are cool, but to me nothing beats the memories associated to the traditional labels (for an old record collector like me, at least). The first ones that come to mind when I think about my favorite labels are Polydor and the label used by Mercury in the UK during the 60s.

I'm not sure why, but the Epic label always pops to mind first. Definitely a lot of great memories associated with that particular label. When I was very young, like 4 or 5, I thought the inner labels had to do with the type of music on the album. So when I saw the Elektra label on Shout At The Devil, I assumed that all albums with that label were "satanic rock" haha

It's a very great album. Albini's best work. Page and Plant peaking. Just got a cd of it. So both records are worldly master pieces. Great vid. Subscribed

Worldly Masterpieces. Nice.👍 "Albini's best work" is a strong statement, however. I'd love to hear your rationale if you're game....

I don't remember that second album even coming out. Lately I been getting into the Unplugged albums which sound perfect on vinyl. Both the Nirvana and Alice in Chains are amazing. I wish they would release more of those because most of what is out there is expensive. Looking forward to Neil Young's within the year and hopefully Eric Clapton's on MoFi.

The second album was VERY overlooked. It's not the greatest album ever or anything, but I definitely think it's worth a listen. Couldn't agree more on wanting more Unplugged albums on vinyl. The Nirvana and Alice In Chains Unplugged albums are two fantastic sounding LPs. I'd love for more of the classic Unplugged albums to get pressed on vinyl and maybe even start releasing shows that were aired on TV but never released on CD back then like Aerosmith and so on

Walking Into Clarksdale is a pretty decent album - I have it on vinyl myself. My copy is European and is on Mercury. I presume you don't have the mispress on Atlantic? I'd have been a bit bummed if I'd picked that up. I sold my vinyl copy of No Quarter though. It got tedious to listen to after some plays and strangely enough sounds extremely dated now to my ears. And like everyone else here apparently, I'm also a fan of good old fashioned centre labels. Pilz (big redcap mushroom), Neon, Vertigo and Island (eyeball variant) are amongst my favourites.

My copy of Clarksdale is the US pressing, so it's on Atlantic. As for as No Quarter goes, it's a fun listen now and again, so I plan to hang on to it.

@@InfectiousGroovePodcast Apparently some of the the US Atlantic pressings of Clarksdale had two side B's with side C containing the title track left off 🙄

@@snapcracklenpop821 interesting, I hadn't heard about that! I haven't spun mine in a couple of months, but I did play it back when I first got it and all the tracks were present. That's a relief to know I didn't get a misprint
