I used to work the night shift at a convenient store, and there was a guy who came in every Saturday night and bought 3 porn magazines and a bottle of Jergens hand lotion. Like clockwork. Pursuant to the Unofficial Code of Conduct for Convenient Store Clerks of the World, I was obliged to keep a totally straight face, and just ring up his purchase and give him the change. Under NO circumstances could I smirk, or say anything like "Another big Saturday night, eh, sport?"

When I was really young and really broke, I was best buds with the night guy at the convenience store across the street from my apartment. When Charles H. Levy delivered the shipment of new magazines (huge rack of legitimate ones out front plus the "behind the counter selection"), I'd stock them for him while he clandestinely drank vodka and did a few lines in the employee bathroom, and in exchange I got to peruse the new smut for free. Then we'd laugh our asses off at the cartoons in "Hustler" and "Hustler Humor". Good times. (Eventually I figured out how to get actual women to sleep with me...just in time for free internet porn to become a thing.)

When I was in college, I worked at a bookstore that sold every possible porn magazine. When it came time to throw them away, I would take the most disgusting ones: "Over 70," "Barely Legal," "Gold Nugget Piss mag" etc., and then, before we had parties, I would put the magazines out on the coffee table along with the types of magazines one would normally find on a coffee table. It's an attempted backlash against the fact that more women are speaking out about sexual harassment and assault. (Men are too, which is also imprtant). The fear is because they want to cling to old fashioned views and standards where men could get away with more sexual harassment. Whatever age that person is, their views are outdated and now irrelevant. Hence my dismissive 'ok boomer.' Perhaps they are scared of being caught out for sexual harassment, themselves. Me calling that out obviously struck a nerve. So yeah, truth hurts.
