My lil theory about the salmonid is that after chaos won, Pearl probably lifted the ban on salmonid contact, wich I mostly based off the fact that the salmonids were on her side in the splatefest trailers. Also, maybe the people found some remains of the Eifel tower and tried rebuilding it, but they accidentally made it ulside down and just ran with that

I think there’s still a presence of order in Splatoon 3. On the train ride and in one of the shots of the city (at 15:35), there’s a huge tower that can be seen in the city. This huge tower stands out and seems to play a role as Splatoon 3’s “tower.” (Compared to Inkopolis Tower in 1, and Deca Tower(?) in 2). Notably, this tower looks like it dominates over a lower class. Unlike in previous games, where the setting seems to be a single theme (skateboarding, grunge, childhood, etc.), there seems to be a class divide in Splatoon 3.

The scene with the building with the big blue pig structure could be a shop, or it could be a bank where you can store your earned money in. In the context of the original Splatoon games, such a system would be unnecessary considering how there is no risk involved keeping your money on you. But if the city of chaos really is a no bars no rules place, perhaps the possibility of being splatted outside of battle and losing your money is feasible. Even if you can’t get splatted in the city, the possibility of being able to travel the wastelands and encounter enemies there could be possible. This is just speculation. For all we know, Splatoon 3 does not have an open world and there is no danger in the city, I can’t say. What I do know is, SPLATOON 3 IS COMING AND IT IS GOING TO BE SO GOOD *I AM HYPE*

The pig area is accessible and it isn’t the entrance to a shop. Look closely through the pig and you’ll see a few features that appear immediately in the next shot displaying a secluded but open area. I speculate this to be the salmon run area

If the salmon buddy means anything, there must have been a major relationship change between inklings and salmon-kind. Additionally, in a promotional 2020 poster, you can spot a secret message in the official art spelling “save our salmonids.” Nonetheless, I think its safe to say that whatever salmonids have to do with the next game, there will have to be a major change in the salmon run mode- if it returns at all.

What it does indicate is that we have somehow become stuck caring for one, which I think will be a pretty prevalent theme in the story especially considering the save our salmons post.

One interesting thing about splatsville is that it's said to have a dated feel and I think it could be a direct influence from octoling culture, as they use a lot of old artifacts and recycle stuff, as well as having a "dated" sense of aesthetic for only having access to old stuff iirc. There’s no way they just scrapped this together and also, it could possibly be delayed or come out earlier than intended because of corona. I feel we won’t have to wait to long for this game. I know the others have came out close to summer or in summer, but I feel this one could come out before then. i just feel it will. and good games take time, but tbh this game seems like it’s already been in development, maybe even during or after Splatoon 2 was running or announced. Another possible reason for more Octarian-Inkling interaction/integration: Octavio is no longer in power. In a society that's heavily dependant on a chain of command, not having a super militant warmongering guy be the leader could do wonders for international/interracial relationships + It ties to the entire "city of chaos" narrative. Order is stability and technological development, but chaos, despite its setbacks, is prime for new, radical ideas- including good ones, like leaving old grudges behind. I just hope we eventually get to see a "city of order" as well. Better technology and infrastructure, but worse treatment of octarians and salmonids

6:37 I SCREAMED YES WHEN I SAW THIS this is exactly what I have been thinking and saying to everyone. Another thing about it is that in Kowloon (the Hong Kong city mentioned) the buildings were very close to an airport and because they had no official laws and ordinances didn't apply, they were able to build much higher than what is allowed near airports. The buildings then could only be up to 14 stories tall otherwise the planes would hit them, and this led to planes flying dangerously close to the buildings. In the trailer you can see a clip of a plane flying overhead which is very close to the tops of the buildings which is the same exact thing that happened in Kowloon commonly.

My theory here is that it is France as technically speaking the Eiffel Tower models in Vegas and near Hong Kong are to small to last as long and to small to be that big in what looks like a crater. 6:40 is the Kowloon Walled City for anyone who’s curious. It was a part of Hong Kong (now demolished) during British rule that neither Britain or China claimed jurisdiction over. Therefore, it became a den of immense crime and poverty, being almost completely self governing. As a result, it was built in this haphazard, ultra-dense formation with new apartments just stacking upon the old due to a complete absence of building regulations. It’s a really interesting albeit depressing piece of history. Today it bares no resemblance to its past, having been levelled and turned into a park baring the same name.

some cool things i noticed: the ink tanks now resemble water bags! like the kind you use when hiking or running. the tentacles are burnt on the edges because of the harsh sun lol there are old rusted trains at the beginning of the trailer, before we see the inkling girl. just interesting to think about because trains have had some significance within splatoon, with the creepy train sounds at bosses and with the octo expansion, and now with splatoon 3! ill add more as i see them lol

I think that with the salmons is that, you can’t see them until you beat the story mode so, until then, you have to hide yours but other salmons will appear when you beat the story.

On the salmonling topic, the way I see it theyre only doing humanoid cephalopods, not fish, so really the next, if any, would be cuttlelings, like the squid sisters and captain cuttlefish.

I don't think cap'n cuttlefish is a cuttlefish (despite his name) because we do have art of his squid form. BUT i think you'll be pleased to know there is art in haikara walker of cuttlefish idols! they look a little different from inklings in their hairstyle, but some similarities to Callie and Marie (same eye color and shape) so I wouldn't be surprised if the Squid sisters had cuttlefish genes in em, however that works. That being said, I have my doubts but if we were to get another playable species, I'd def prefer a cuttlefish over salmonlings.

@@rassicas So the reason I say they're cuttlefish is because of their ears, inklings have pointy ears and octolings round, the squid sisters and captain cuttlefish have pointy ears with a flat side on the top, resembling a cuttlefish rather than a squid or octopus. Cuttlefish also says in octo expansion that he "needs to rest his cuttlebones", which are something only cuttlefish have, callie also forgets squid don't have bones in the singleplayer mode.

I love your analyses on Splatoon and I really want to subscribe but I'm going to try to head into this game completely blind other than this trailer. I will binge all ur videos until new content comes out but im making this comment to just say that I very much love this channel and I can't wait to come back once the game is out and get my mind blown. I feel like here in the west, without translations and as much media attention, it's really hard to appreciate just how amazing this game is. For me, this game personally captures the feeling of excitement and dread for a rapidly developing world that is simultaneously collapsing. I'm a gen z kid and I think this is one of the first generation in a while where the future looks far bleaker than the past. Splatoon means so much for me and embracing this series is just so cathartic. I struggle from a lot of private stuff so I've never been able to go through with making videos like these, and it makes me so happy (if not a little envious; im not smart cuz im using 'envious' instead of jealous, it just felt more appropriate ig) to see that there is someone (and from the comment section, many people) who see how fascinating the world of Splatoon is. Sorry for the essay, it was basically my temporary goodbye to this channel. Please keep doing what you're doing. You are doing so much for Splatoon fans who cannot read Japanese or gain access to these materials.

i chose order for pretty much the same reason as you, for the aesthetic, but i really love what they've done with the chaos theme to the point where i might have actually chose chaos if I'd known lmao- i adore the design for the city, and the new hairstyles that fit the wasteland theme. im also happy someone else has noticed the tentacle fade, but i think it might possibly indicate decay, dehydration (because of the lack of water) or pollution? that concept is mostly stolen from a comment under the trailer but i think it's an interesting thing to think abt.

I'm noticing lots of parallel to paris in splatsville and the splatlands. Both cities are split into a metropolitan and a regular area. Both cities are known for one specific thing. The splatlands are mainly the same other than monuments and splatsville, same thing with paris. It's too early to say but i have my suspicions.

The world is drying, that's why the metro is available (Normally in the deepsea) or why the places have so much sand (Actually beach sand) and Inkopolis is no longer habitable. The Inklings have moved to another city that used to be above water in the middle of the sea but has since dried down. The reason to why they have said goodbye to the usual spawnpoints might be because the city is now high above ground level and floating is cool? (Idk). The reason to why Inklings have Octarian tech is because the underground cities of the Octarians are now exposed or a bit exposed.
