He started with a pile of parts and stuff and now he has a running car- with a UK license plate- the MOT is no mean feat either! One man's gnarly finger at other's impressions from their couches. The rat rod scene isn't really my bag but I appreciate the effort and artistic individually that goes into the build. It's a whole hell of a lot more creative than stripping the paint from the bonnet on a MK4 Golf!

There is no mot rule saying you need them. Only option is an advise for "wheels protruding beyond wheelarch". Police go on "construction and use" regulations which is a different thing entirely.

Hey Matt, I love this beauty as much as all of your creations but something about the headlights ... can"t exactly put my finger on it, if the shape or just positioning just doesn't do the rest of the car justice, any chance to experiment on my theory? ... Maybe bullet unpolished aluminum teardrop cases like 1930's Packard length, perhaps smaller radius as when lit look big. I feel like like it's a point on this car that could use some crazy (or subtle) creativity that can make this beaut.. proportioned rod into a true masterpiece ...If you don't see it maybe Photoshop would get you to see what I am on about m8

dawg... i never wanted something so bad in my life as much as i want this thing. that is the coolest rat rod looking sum bitch i ever seen. honestly it sucks living in the rust belt area's of usa. if you find something cool it has to much rust. i would have to have something shipped in from far out of state for a ok body to work on. and some times shipping can be 2-3k and that can destroy any budget when it comes to rat rods as they where always ment to be super budget rids

... Well I can't put into words what I think of that build...... Glad it's not your creation Matt.... I can say I hate anything VW Beetle or beetle related. Climbing in through the roof with a fuel tank in the cabin.... Very very safe not.... Awful awful thing. Looks like a weekends work in a scrap yard after 12 pints of larger... Not... LAG

Think it’s too old to need an MOT which is the same answer to the question of how it gets away with no mud guards, seat belts etc.
