GCSE Chemistry Question walkthrough.
In this video I go through a number of GCSE Questions and discuss the science behind each question.
I will help you work on your exam technique and make sure I model my thoughts as well as making clear what you need to write to get all of the marks.
We look at 4 GCSE chemistry questions about Rates of Reactions, based around graphs.

Thank you so much for this video!! + I have a question------> now if the concentration is increased the rate of reaction increase as there will be more frequent collisions and so a steeper slope. Does increasing the concentration also means that the graph will level off at a higher height as the amount of reactants increased? so the graph will have a higher height and steeper gradient
@chemistrytutor
@chemistrytutor 2 жыл бұрын
Assuming that both graphs use the same volume then yes, the higher concentration also makes more product and will be higher. We can even say it is proportional: 20cm3 volume and 4 mol/dm3 concentration will make twice as much gas (or product generally) compated to 20cm3 volume and 2 mol/dm3 concentration
@marigeo24
@marigeo24 Жыл бұрын
@@chemistrytutor so if the volume decreases and the concentration increases by proportional amounts, then the product amount remains the same?
@chemistrytutor
@chemistrytutor Жыл бұрын
@@marigeo24 that's correct yes. Volume is halved but Concentration is doubled, would lead to increased rate (steeper gradient) but same amount (and height) of product

10:18 I answered that the greater the concentration, the faster the rate of reaction and so as the reaction progresses more gas is produced meaning that it causes the solution to be cloudy. Is this correct? I was thinking this was to do with concentration and how is affects rate of reaction
@chemistrytutor
@chemistrytutor 3 ай бұрын
No, I'm afraid it's not correct. The cloudiness is to do with the production of the precipitate. You wouldn't describe something as cloudy if it made bubbles. Cloudiness is to do with making a white coloured solid

2:45 don’t we change the cm^3 to dm^3 ???
@chemistrytutor
@chemistrytutor 2 жыл бұрын
That's only essential for moles of solution calculations (e.g. titrations). You can do it here, but unnecessary. When you are quoting a rate of reaction you just need to keep track of what is changing and divide that by how long it took for the change. 😃
