i was gonna suggest either grease, a tiiiiiny spot of superglue and i mean tinyyy, or put a ring of paper around the bearing and then slide it out before fully seating the bearing when the needle bearings are about halfway out. (just some ideas)

Sodium hydroxide Other names Caustic soda Lye Ascarite White caustic Sodium hydrate Sodium hydroxide is a highly caustic base and alkali that decomposes proteins at ordinary ambient temperatures and may cause severe chemical burns. Pack the gears with grease.install bearings making sure to count them and get proper number per gear..install gear set...grease won't harm the gear oil nor bearings nor synchronizers nor bushings... You can usr a drill attachment to lap the valves and guides which makes the job easier and faster...simply cleaning the gunk out of that valve guide and stem will free it back up...new valve stem seals and a good lapping will have that old head back in usable shape... There's a good way to wind up getting eye surgery if a corrosive winds up in your eyes.. Careful over rushing works best every time.

Been watching you for a good amount of time and I just want to say wonderful job keeping projects coming.. With the no longer good CBR 1000 motor, I think you should save all good parts out of it and use it to fix the good engine if you end up breaking something. You can never go wrong with extra parts, at least then you wouldn't have to spend so much money having to fix something

Those needle bearings in the gearbox just use a shorter dummy counter shaft and put them in using grease to hold them in place then slide the dummy shaft in one layer at a time . When you install the original shaft in the gear box it will push the dummy shaft out leaving the needle bearings installed .

You may not have any local bearings shops around you, but most towns have a transmission supply shop or something like that... They usually carry lots of bearings at really good prices. If that is not an option, there are online bearings stores that are a lot better than using ebay or amazon.

My most famous mistakes included pressurizing gear lube with the air hose to blow it it. FYI the Qt explodes in your face between 5 and 10 psi LOL. Also a combination of frayed battery cable and cheap charger which overcharged lawn mower battery boiling out and water leaving lot of hydrogen gas. upon starting batter exploded covering me in acid. Lucky facing other direction and no direct damage. Its about as loud as a 410 shotgun though. I think I still have ringing in that side.

Since you have a yard, might as well ditch that miniature parts cleaner and get one of the cheapo metal sink and make a small stand for it with a drain pump through the normal sink evac and a second hand bilge pump (cause those are supposed to be rated for oils, sea water, and other garbage) and voila, you have a heavy duty parts cleaner. As long as you run some spirits through the pump to make sure it doesn't have water innit during winter, it should last you years out in the elements.

You need to make a dumb shaft that is the same length as your lay shaft, grease then pack your needle rollers and gently slip in your dummy shaft, 'note' this is only as long as your lay shaft so it will slide into the case, once inside insert your longer shaft so it pushes out the dummy shaft, job done.
